Great episode.
I was playing Fallout new vegas earlier today, and found a drink you might like to take a crack at, "The Atmoic Cocktail."
So yeah, it could be cool.
I liked the soft synthwave music you used in this one.
does a line of cinnamon, “that was awesome!”
Audio levels are a bit off on this one, normally I watch these in the 12-16 range and I had to raise this one to 36 to achieve the same level of volume. Otherwise excellent video as always.
Grunt is canonically like a year old (he was grown in a tank at full size) so I love that his drink is a straight up milkshake
It's a Sophisticated and Decadent milkshake, mind you. Which is even better.
Also he's learned basically everything he knows from either the internet, or a suicide squad... dangerous combination.
He's not very bright, but got dang everybody loves grunt.
@@jeffbrown3009 hes not very bright but hes got spirit
@ye or maybe nah And then Commander Shepard, Grunt's adoptive parental figure, had to tell the C-Sec officers that it won't happen again, and then tell Grunt that it won't happen again.
I love Grunt and Shepard's interactions and the kind of pseudo-parental dynamics going on.
him googling "earth lizard wrex" is honestly one of the cutest thing in mass effect
This is my favorite mixology channel on the Citadel
This is my favorite Citadel to add to my tankard 😋
It is rare that a RUclips comment legitimately makes me laugh...which is dangerous when I'm on a work call at the same time.
You aren't Commander Shepard so no one cares.....
The active ingredient in ryncol is highly radioactive (they say you'll set off rad alarms for a week afterward and it literally kills normal humans) so I think we will forgive you for not recreating it
I was about to say the same thing
Shame
Yeah, the most description it ever really gets is "IT'S EXRTREMELY LETHAL TO HUMANS"
Would be pretty dang hard to try to workshop it
@@jeffbrown3009 and shepherd is the only human garrus knew that survived after drinking it.
@@ednascissorhands7398 I think it is due to bio mods, same thing with the guy who poisoned you in the club Omega, you only survive due to bio mods.
“I won’t stop you. I can’t. You’re at home, i’m here.”
*still nervously locks door
😂
Greg, as a certified Mass Effect lore dweeb™️ I can tell you that you made a good call on the ryncol as, in all likelihood, ryncol is just 100% ethanol with a little radiation for flavor. The reason we can infer this is because of a little something called chirality: in Mass Effect the galaxy is divided into levo-amino acids or dextro-amino acids. In-universe, consuming foods that are from the opposite chirality will at best pass right through you and at worse will provoke an allergic reaction and kill you. However, alcohol is the great unifier as it is chirality-neutral! This is important because ryncol is a krogan drink (who are levo based), but we also see in the novels that quarians (who are dextro based) also used to enjoy it (presumably watered down). Given that making your own at-home ryncol would involve you driving some 95% everclear out to chernobyl and letting it stew for a bit, can’t say I blame you for skipping that one 😆
Actually, ryncol _can’t_ be just pure ethanol. It’s green, for starters, and while that could be addressed by it including some light radioactive isotopes in its recipe, it’s also both incredibly flammable, highly acidic (notably chewing through metal, which raw ethanol doesn’t do) and _survivable_ for aliens, albeit it seems to hit like a Thresher Maw going down - for obvious reasons.
All that in mind, my (completely baseless) guess is that the core recipe for ryncol involves distilling a Tuchankan fruit.
Essentially, by turning this fruit - which comes from the radioactive wastes of Tuchanka - into an incredibly high-proof cider, they create a _mostly_ chirality-neutral drink that has traces of what can only be described as a radioactive acidic poison in it, which makes perfect sense as a Krogan drink, thus instilling ryncol with its characteristic absolute pain while also explaining its odd quirks.
If you’re wondering, yes, I pretty much came up with this on the spot.
@@jacobschott6955 As the video pointed out all the drinks in that scene were green so I don't think we can infer to what Rynchol is based on the visuals
"Lizard Klingon" is so extremely accurate; they even have Michael Dorn voicing one of the prominent Krogan in ME2.
I was scrolling to see if anyone else would mention this lmao
I thought the same!
You mean Gatatog Uvenk?
@@Moeflyer6213 Yup. If ya do Grunt's Rite of Passage, and pick a particular renegade interrupt, you headbutt Worf, basically. XD
Greg: "I never actually got into Mass Effeect."
Me: Very tempted to select the currently flashing Red Star
I've had enough of your disingenuous assertions.
*Renegade chime* "I've had enough of your gameplay refusal." *Punch's monitor* "... Shit..."
Greg I worked on ME 1/2/3 and it was amazing seeing this pop up on my feed. Worlds colliding. HTD, ME and Drinking. What an evening! Thank you!
Those games inspired me to get into game design myself.
Thank you and everyone who worked on this series for pouring so much love and passion into these games that you inspired me and so many others
"Report to the bar, we'll drink OK." - Commander Greg.
*Report to the bar as soon as possible
Ryncol is also incredibly unstable, it bursts into flame when thrown at vehicles. My head cannon is ryncol is based off some sort of jet fuel that survived the krogan nuking their planet.
"Garrus quick Greg is making the drinks from mass effect"
"Can it wait for a bit I'm in the middle of some calibrations"
"Not right now"
I like how Grunt's drink perfectly encapsulates his adolescent nature. That sweet on sweet on sweet sort of beverage makes way too much sense for him.
LAUNCH FIGHTERS. Everytime you said Star Control, it's all I could think.
The Mass Effect Saga has a special place in my heart. It basically got through the 4 darkest years of my life when my mental health issues were at my worst, in addition to being a fantastic work of fiction. I never knew about the Full Biotic kick because I saved Ashley as opposed to Kaeden in Mass Effect 1. This video really helped me today. I have been very anxious through out the entire day due to the fact it's the eve of Yom Kippur, where not only I have to fast, but also reflect on my sins and pray for forgiveness. Thank you so much Greg.
Ryncol is not meant for human consumption - literally. To quote Grunt, "It hits aliens like ground glass." And apparently tears your insides up for a week, so yeah....for everyone's sake Greg, please don't try to recreate it. These vids are enjoyable and nice moments of sanity during these crazy times.
So watered down bleach?
@@novaiscool1 Fortified bleach, more like.
It's basically a two part mix of A: Things that hurt you so bad that you require active regeneration powers to not die and B: Alcohol that the previous things that hurt you so bad will allow you to experience the effects of since your toxin filtering apparatus is busy dealing with the radioactive bleach you just consumed.
It's the most Krogan of drinks, and I don't really think taste factors into it at all.
@ye or maybe nah Radioactive, 190 proof and highly acidic are all the qualities I could find about it. Oh, and it'll make you puke purple
Huh. This whole time I thought Ryncol was a kind of warhead.

So, funny enough, both drinks are references to an article by website SaveGame that came out a few months after the launch of Mass Effect 3. The recipes they had were
Full Biotic Kick: 1.25 oz bourbon
0.5 oz spiced rum
0.25 oz Triple Sec
Ginger beer to fill
And
Tasty Tankbred:
1 oz Bailey’s
0.5 oz Malibu Coconut Rum
0.5 oz butterscotch schnapps
Fill with iced chocolate, top with crumbled cookies & sprinkles
I'm so making the tasty tankard at some point.
You gotta do Deep Rock Galactic. There's an in-game bar there and it has plenty of drinks.
Yes please

This was really fun. Also, never too late to start playing Mass Effect! I just got to play Legendary Edition and experienced it for the first time. It’s worth it.
As a Mass Effect fan that does a yearly trilogy playthrough, and asked for this episode when the teaser for Mass Effect 4 came out, this made my day!
I was hoping for Ryncol, but I get why didn't do it. If you want ryncol, just drink some gasoline or something.
Toxic waste, more like (for the radioactivity.)
3 parts Liquid uranium 1 part kerosene with a wd40 float and a salarian liver twist and you've got a pretty spot on ryncol cocktail
With you on the yearly trilogy playthrough, just ordered the legendary addition for my Xbox one, waiting till November 7th to start that though, N7 day and all.
Same on the trilogy playthrough. And sush we dont talk about 4. It doesn't exist.
@@dragonhitman1071 The first time I tried Andromeda, I hated it, same fkr the second.
On the third try I finished it, and it was okay, but it had soooo much potential. Characters like Drack were great, and the story had the potential to be better than the trilogy. It's just that the fucked up and wasted all that potential.
My favorite internet drinky man and my favorite game series of all time? Count me in!
You did Perk-a-colas a long while back. How would you feel about doing that again but with perks like Widows Wine, Stamin-Up, Mule Kick, and Deadshot Daquiri?
The perks in Cold War have an ingrediant list on the info-label that can be found on the Empty perk cans intel. That could be used as a base for what you could do, and I would love to see your reactions to some of the ingredients listed.
Seconded :3
For real
this is actually a great idea, no doubt it’ll get views for ol greg too
Been waiting on a part 2 on that for awhile now
"Malibu tastes like sunscreen"
Yeah and? Hand me more
I always hear that, but what i think they really mean is it tastes like sunscreen, specifically bananaboat coconut, smells not like taking a mouthful of the actual sunscreen. Don't do that, btw, its gonna make you sick.
I like that in The Noble Dead Saga, to show how strong a dwarven spirit was, the authors said they used wood alcohol for some of their drinks. Led to a humorous point with the little human sage girl nearly killing herself in a ceremony and being saved by "rudeness".
Been a fan of htd for a long time and for mass effect even longer.. time to put off homework for another 20 minutes👌🏻
What do you study?
I want to try a hot and cold variation of the Tasty Tankard. That’s my favorite drink I’ve seen in a long time.
I was thinking a hot version as well.. did it work?
The Ilwrath theme from Star Control is one of the most rad soundtracks ever made
Any chance in the future of creating some DRAGON AGE drinks? (I don't think anything was ever mentioned in the games... but we could always make something up!) 😁
A couple of cocktail names I have thought of: The Joining (of which I made during Magic City Con at a party. A stupidly simple mixture of Cola, Cherry Heering Liqueur, and Everclear. You could probably do better, Greg!) Alistair's Rose! The Archdemon! Sarcastic Hawke! The Arishok! The Rift! Red Lyrium! The Well of Sorrows! So many clever names for cocktails can be made from game content!!
There may or may not be a Dragon Age episode somewhere in the pipeline.
Ooh! I would be SO excited if this were to occur@@theamazingari3363! 🥰 🥰 🥰 While I am a fan of the ME series, Dragon Age is my first gaming love! 💖
there's that drink you have with the Iron Bull, and there are lots of bottled drinks in Inquisition (a whole quest for them, in fact!) and Origins (mostly gifts for party members, but they have descriptions at least). The West Hill Brandy is one of maybe 3 bottles in Inquisition that describe how they taste/what's in them. Aside from those, there is a spiced wine recipe in one of the "World of Thedas" volumes.
BioWare has actually given us the recipe for Dragon Piss from Origins (1oz Light rum, 1oz Dark Rum, fill with Ice Tea)
You could probably get a passing resemblance to Ryncol by taking lab grade anhydrous ethanol and spiking it with bleach and a little ammonia to get that deadly Tuchanka smog and the intestine destroying effects.
Also, the way you are after your first taste of the Tasty Tankard, it seems like THE drink for the after-war celebrations :D
Nah the ammonia is for the Volus, you have to get some radiation in the Ryncol
also, from what i have heard, drop a few bits of uranium or plutonium in there
@@heliveruscalion9124 if I remember correctly from the Citadel DLC, Grunt threw ryncol at a police car and set it on fire. So it's also very flammable as well.
@@Blueoriontiger Well it is 95% ethanol
Oh man, I am a big fan of both Mass Effect *and* Star Control! I'm loving the references to both
Do you have anything flashier? I want something that says “I own this drink, I own YOU”.
"I wouldn't know - Star Control" Preach, Brother!
“I’m guessing you have somewhere between a passing familiarity and a rabid devotion to the franchise”
He’s into us guys
Greg, let's be honest here, you should use a funnel all the time.
Greg I think you need a literal paint shaker to facilitate large or batch cocktails. Dump the ingredients is a stainless paint can and let her rip.
Now THAT's Krogan thinking!
calling krogan lizard klingons is the most accurate description ive ever heard
The double shaking was everything I'd dreamed it would be.
The little hopping he did while shaking made me laugh so hard!
Although I can no longer try these cocktails due to health problems, all my friends and family are loving your cocktails and the ones I've had are amazing. Keep up the good work.
As someone who always skips Sponsor breaks, you earned my attention with Star Control
Side Note: If you ever do drinks from the Expanse Series that sphere glass will be perfect, as they use no-gravity "bulbs" as drink containers.
I think he becomes less and less sober from episode to episode xD. Great content.
Well he's making multiple episodes in a day so one of the games you can play is guessing if it was filmed earlier or later in the day. ☺️
"Lizard Klingon".... So, the J'em Hadar? Lmao but seriously, this was entertaining!
Ah yes, my favourite channel, drinks with nerd
Yesss!! I've been waiting for you next video!! I love your energy in your videos.
Greg: *busts out the whipped cream*
Me: "The abomination is complete."
That cinnamon pour for the fire shot was definitely a renegade option.
i think its technically the tasty tankbred, in reference to grunt being grown in a vat as a super soldier, but tasty tankard also works haha
Hell yeah, I love to see Star Control love out in the wild!! Still one of the best games I've ever played, and Mass Effect REALLY owes a lot of its DNA to it. :D
I was just thinking of Greg making a video on Mass Effect drinks and now here we are. Incredible.
"I once watched a Krogan drink a liquified Turian on a dare. Yeah, no one came out of that one looking pretty." - Matriarch Aethyta.
Where's our Liquified Turian, Greg? :D
Watching the editing evolve over the years has been such a treat to watch. Props to the HTD team!
Absolutely delighted to see this video and your take on the drinks ❤
The double shaking had me reeling, thank you, you brought some much needed joy into my day!
YEEEES, I've been waiting so long for this episode!! I'm gonna enjoy this.
Haven’t watched HTD ina while, glad I tuned back in for such a treat of an episode
Where you been?
I'm Commander Shepard, and these are my favourite cocktails on the Citadel.
So now you are going to have to do a Star Control episode. Something like the Spathi Slammer, guaranteed to cause frightful panic or the Pkunk-a-krunk.
YES! I've been waiting so long for this episode!
Oh man I was just on a how to drink binge and this comes out with perfect timing
I have been waiting for this one!
That Tasty Tankard actually sounds awesome. Gotta try that some time.
Perfect intro! Great episode, thank you! I love Mass Effect
Amazing. Love everything.
What a super fun episode, awesome to see a creator enjoy themselves. Great stuff!
Just cause it's mass effect best episode ever
Man the music the humor the energy in this video was just SO GOOD KEEP IT UP
Love the video! After watching your channel for a while now, I'm hooked on mixology :)
Someone's been playing the Legendary Edition lol
Hmmm perhaps of Star Control 2
Definitely going to look it up right after this. Possible plagerism aside, ME is an amazing series honestly. Almost all of your actions carry over from one game to another and many choices and combinations of choices culminate in the third and final game in unique ways. If you've ever wanted a series you can dive deep into and you ever have the time...which I seriously doubt lol you should definitely look into it. Love your chanel btw, been watching since the Churchill video. Thought I should say that while I have your attention :).
yes
been waiting for this one
I glad to see happy Greg back
That opening
You still got it!
Curse you for making me want to play the whole trilogy again in just four seconds of a very predictable opening. Besides that: great episode and the Full Biotic Kick might become a personal liquid long time companion.
Wasn’t expecting to see a sweet chocolate drink from a mass effect themed video! Tempted to try
Love this. Gonna need to make me some of these
I love watching your show. you keep showing me awesome drinks i can try when i move. Good show dude
Did a good job with the names!
Okay the Double shake was A-MAZING.
The closest that you can get to Ryncol is mixing Everclear with Uranium, and maybe Midori for color.
LOVE THIS!
Just moved into my new house and this was perfectly timed with my first old fashioned in the home.
Sophistication can just piss right off... Buttershots is amazing in rootbeer floats!
The Mass Effect tetrology is my favorite video game series bar none, so stoked to see you do this!
Great video, nice reverences
Hey Greg! I've been following your videos for quite a while now, and while I enjoy seeing your creations come to life and learning about all these different cocktails, I'm not actually that fond of alcohol. I've tried a lot and only liked a few of them.
I would love to see a video where you talk about cocktails that someone like me may enjoy,
Cheers!
Watching Greg pour milk and cereal in slow-mo in the ad break killer me far more than it should have
I love how the sci-fi drink sphere is essentially a clear sippy cup.
Once did a Kentucky Mule with orange bitters from angostura rather than lime juice... Worked well 👌
As a Mass Effect and Dragon Age fan, I approve of your drinks in this video.
I love the Star Control 2 shoutouts! The 3DO port of the game with all the voices is an absolute masterstroke of science-fiction space adventure.
Toys for Bob forever!
I do love watching 12 hours worth of how to drink

The fact that Greg knows about star control just made me fall in love with.
Liked for the Star Control II reference!!!
YEAHHH!! IM SO HAPPY YOU DID THIS!!
By far my most favorite commercial that you've ever done.
