As I said, I haven't played Mario since N64, so which of the new Mario games is best in your opinion?

WARIO NUMBAH ONE!!!
Last time I've played alot of Mario was Mario Kart Wii and.... I cracked the disc. D: Right before I got a 360.
Super Mario galaxy 1 and 2 are probably the best
Galaxy 1 and 2 and Odyssey are all great. And honestly 3D world + Bowser's Fury is underrated
Odyssey and 3D World for sure, Galaxy’s pretty good too
64 is a cult classic. You should give Super Mario Odyssey a try, it's similar to 64,you might enjoy it!
Somehow, Greg being Wario is entirely in character.
Greg was a way better Wario then Elon Musk
He's kinda got a lower range on his voice like Wario, plus, the hat suits him
Greg is playing Wario in the sequel confirmed.
He fits well cause he’s the New Jersey equivalent to New York’s Mario
@@50cal10b now I'm imagining wario and waluigi with New Jersey accents, and it's absolutely awful.
Also, which Mario character do you think is from Philadelphia?
In the words of the late Lou Albano as Mario on a 80's PSA: "Remember kids, if ya do drugs, you go ta hell before ya die!"
Jeeeeezus
CAPTAIN LOU YAOI
NO
"If you're not watching the Super Mario Super Show, you're going to turn into a GOOMBA!"
Unless it’s ‘shrooms
Then he awkwardly says “please” just before the the PSA ends and it cracks me up every time.
Love that he put a fake moustache over his actual moustache.
Mustache-ception
+
I think when Greg said the mushroom syrup was "divisive" that means he liked it but everyone else around him hated it.
Or the other way around
As a chemist, watching you drink out of an Erlenmeyer flask is great but also induces flashbacks to every safety lecture yelling at me to never do that
This is truly a egon vs venkman comment, an im here for it
That intro is truly unhinged
Giving the people what they want😂
Like something out of a fever dream
The reason people hate Rumples is because they'd go out to the bars and do 12 shots of it while drinking and tossing it all up that night or the next morning.
The classical Rump and Dump
Same reason people don’t appreciate Jäegermeister
Yup. Had a college roommate obsessed with it. Peppermint vomit is an aroma I didn't need to know could exist.
Wario loves garlic, so I expect at least one vampire killing cocktail here.
You can make that any cocktail. You either need a small enough vampire or a ridiculously big enough wooden umbrella decoration.
@@ArispeMatt This response is underrated
Angry mobs: peasants wielding torches, Tiki Bars: lower class joes sitting conspicuously close to torches. There's some real vampire hunting potential there.
That's for the Castlevania video
How I would picture cocktails based off of Mario characters and their personalities:
- Mario: Something cloyingly sweet; like fruit punch but the "punch" is capitalized. An absolute club or party drink, one of those magical disappearing cocktails. Something that'd make him go "LET'S A-GO"
- Luigi: Something lightly sweet, not too overpowering. He's a bit skittish, so something more refreshing. Maybe like a mojito
- Peach: Something bougie. Something with Peach schnapps definitely. Maybe a nuclear-pink margarita or one of those cake milkshake things you see like Tipsy Bartender do, one of those diabetic monstrosities.
- Daisy: Something with more kick. She's like the sportiest or most tomboy of the princesses. Probably something with orange juice in it.
- Bowser: Something strong and bitter. Maybe spicy or tart. Coffee or espresso based.
- The Koopalings (Bowser's blood-related child and various adopted children; Bowser Jr., Iggy, Larry, Wendy, Ludwig, Morton, Lemmy, and Roy): just a row of 8 varied colored shots. All the shots are non-alcoholic because they're all children.
- Rosalina (the space princess a lot of people think is hot): Something with luster dust in it. The taste is weird but it's not bad.
- Donkey Kong: Something with bananas and maybe moonshine. Maybe some kind of tiki-drink. I feel like it'd have to be in a barrel.
- Wario: Something with garlic. Just something absolutely vile. Just the most garbage juice, everything but the kitchen sink, kind of Bloody Mary. I would start with Malort and work from there.
- Waluigi: Something like stupidly sour.
- Pauline (the OG "princess" from the arcade Donkey Kong; she's actually a mayor): Something professional. Like, something's that pretty like mainstream. Like a Cosmo or LIIT.
All of this is valid imo, but here's my take, for nuance:
-Mario reads something like a Martinez for me, easygoing but still has a little depth to it. Not a whole lot of it mind you but still. Maybe double up the maraschino?
-Luigi is totally a Last Word but lengthened somehow (bit of a coward, this brother), maybe a Last Word and soda? Is that a thing?
-Peach is definitely a blended daiquiri, served in a fishbowl of a glass with a bunch of fruit on skewers and some mint and flowers and some blue curacao/grenadine layered in there. Goldschlager gets involved for no reason other that influencer clout.
-Daisy reads like a martini, sub vermouth for Cointreau. Overproofed? Maybe. But if there's one drink that sprints at your face and says "HI I'M DAISY!!"
-Bowser is straight mezcal, the smokier the better. He doesn't enjoy it but pretends to anyway.
-Koopalings are just Faygo's current product line. All of them. Woop woop.
-Rosalina's drink of choice is a vodka gimlet, the lime juice MUST be clarified and the glass must be chilled to exactly 35 degrees farenheit and you MUST use Kazuo Uyeda's Hard Shake. She's not even going to drink it.
-DK is definitely a Zombie, sub everything possible with banana variants. He throws it back like a shooter.
-I like starting with Malort, maybe a whiskey smash kinda thing but with garlic cloves? Definitely with everclear.
-The Waluigi:
Lime Juice 1oz
Lemon Juice 1oz
Cranberry Juice 1oz
Creme de Violette 1oz
Dry shake.
Pour.
Suffer.
-Pauline is the mayor of New Donk City, she's clearly a Manhattan.
Wario is 100% a Bloody Mary with garlic powder poured into it.
Like "make every bacteria in your gut instantly burst into flames" amount of garlic powder, probably with popcorn shrimp floating in it too.
@@diehounderdoggenalt lmao the Waluigi killed me
-malort
-everclear
-crushed garlic
-ghost pepper sauce
Love all of this, including the replies. My two cents is I'd see Toad as the coffee/espresso base rather than Bowser, both for the earthiness & the energy.
Greg actively drinking his drinks as he makes the tutorials is what really sets him apart from other channels being like 5 drinks in at the end of the video is so real
This video needs to be watched in 144p to get the authentic Mario experience.
Edit: also you guys are more mature than I am. That whole time you were talking about button-mashing and "rapid fingering" I was giggling like a child.
Glad someone else felt the same way - Greg, Meredith's rapid-finger is probably just fine.
Since you mentioned Warhammer, I'd love to see a HTD where you make themed drinks for each of the Chaos gods. Examples would be
a twist on a Bloody Mary for Khorne
Something sweet and fruity but extremely alcoholic for Slaanesh
A multi-colored drink with a complex and evolving flavor for Tzeentch
Finally, for Nurgle, the use of a drink popularly considered "gross" would be a must. Malort could be an option, or if you wanted to do something a little more out there, a worm mezcal would definitely fit. Maybe in a cocktail that tries to add some earthy notes.
However you decide to go about it, I'd love to see it.
Khorne deserves something more interesting, good video idea though
What about The Horned Rat from Age of Sigmar, the god the skaven worship
Way to bring back a flood of kitbash 40K memories there. Damn fine episode.
So much plasticard over the years…
I genuinely went "Hey look plasticard, like for 40K stuff" right as he said "we called this stuff plasticard, we used to use it to make warhammer miniatures"
@@vortex594 I knew an orc player who went through that stuff like toilet paper. I think 3/4 of his vehicles were just plasticard sheets he went nuts with.
SO now that this was kinda a power up episode Id love to see a villians episode.
A Bowser drink, garlic Wario drink, and a rose long glass drink for Waluigi. If theres a 4rth drink, something choclate for Gooba, or a Blue drink for Magikoopa.
Great video and can't wait to have some of these drinks when the mario movie is out for home veiwing.
I absolutely love the fire flower drink, and thank you so much for doing a door potion drink. I feel like Mario 2 is too often neglected and forgotten, and it was such a fun game.
It's my personal favorite of the original three, both for what it is and for its unique origin story.
Super mario galaxy 2 is the best mario
game of the year, every year, SUPER MARIO 2
I saw that set of rings and went "Oh that's plasticard, neat! My time making Rhinos paid off after all" and then Greg goes "We used to use this back in the day to make warhammer miniatures and terrain and stuff" and i just had to have a chuckle.
More intros like this please.
I'd also like to see your take on the "poison mushroom" from Mario. There are plenty of power ups or things from Mario universe you can turn into a drink and I'm sure others have good recommendations as well
That's just Kao Liang with purple dye.
That's just Malort with purple dye.
My most favorite thing about this channel is how many thoughts and ideas you share with us in regards to drink theory. Thank you for your efforts, it has changed the way I approach enjoying and making cocktails.
I came SO close to spiting out / choking on my tea with that intro, that's priceless!
First off, I don’t care what ingredients you use in this drink, your intro is epic!
But nooooo it’s “Come on its time to go” oh noooooooooo
Love the bouncing back and forth between the two pronunciations of Mario 😂 one of those is his first name, the other one is his last name
The opening 10 seconds earned this like.
Regarding clear juice:
I've been watching a lot of people making cocktails on RUclips lately, and it seems like everyone feels awkward about the term "nut milk bag," and at the same time they don't know that the same thing has been called a jelly bag for longer. The nut milk thing really became prominent more recently.
What I know about making clear juice, I learned for making jelly. And what I know is, if I want clear juice, I *must not* squeeze or press the jelly bag. Squeezing forces fine solids through the fabric, resulting in cloudy juice.
For nutmilk, it doesn't matter, since it's opaque anyway.
But every bartender I've seen on here squeezes the jelly bag, and they don't seem to know that the result will be cloudier.
Next time, squeeze into a separate container instead, and compare the clarity of the juice that came through the strainer unforced with what you squeezed.
Oh! That's great advice about not squeezing the bag if you want to retain more clarity of your jelly juice. I love finding out about things that sound simple and obvious in retrospect, yet don't occur to us until someone points it out.
How Meredith didn’t panic at Drunk Greg shaking cinnamon all over a flaming drink is beyond me. 😂
I want an episode of Warhammer 40k drinks now! hahaha
"tyranids blood"
"The emperor's brew"
"Corpse starsh"
So many possibilities!
Would love to see you tackle some warhammer themed drinks in celebration of 10th edition dropping soon!
Well Greg, if you like matcha in your drinks I got one for you. I developed a drink recently for the bar that I work at using Roku gin, blueberry syrup, italicus, lemon juice(or you could sub yuzu), about 1/4 tsp matcha, and a splash of soda. Fantastically refreshing and highly recommend you try
This was great Greg! How about an episode of the drinks they would have served at Jurassic Park? Spare no expense!
Been playing Mario since 1988. To this day I’m still pleasantly surprised how enjoyable the Mario games are.
I love the format of covering different liquor bases for each drink. A little variety for everyone.
Do you think you could do an entire episode based on turning classic candies into drink form? Like without just infusing the flavor into vodka. I'd like to see how you turn candy cigarettes into a drink! They're my favorite candies!
Thank you so much for knowing the Mario Song (Super Mario Bros Super Show)! God, what a throwback to my childhood!
I love the energy of this video. Love it.
Another great video.
Would love to see more gaming themed or in game menu items.
Seeing how you make these to your tastes and ideas is a refreshing look and take on the whole concept.
Thanks for the hard work Greg. Have a good day.
Loved the energy in this video!
I know you specialize in tiki drinks, but I really appreciate the variety of liquors in this episode.
love this vid, I'm actually pretty hype to see the movie this week. Keep up the great work!
Fun episode man, I think you captured the spirit of super mario brothers well
The good buddy chemistry of having Meredith interject a bit adds to this show like a good bitters adds to a drink! ("A real boy?" totally made me giggle) Also really enjoying the new podcast. Meredith seems like she'd be a great interviewer, though even she can't keep Greg's tangents from straying, which is fine because the digressions are also fun.
I like that the 1-Up cocktail is a refreshing and invigorating cocktail!
Best wario cosplay I've seen
Regarding Matcha, I've always considered tannins to be their own flavour. Tartness is different from mere sourness.
This was a strong video - all those drinks look and sound great
have you ever considered doing a selection of the beers from deep rock galactic?
*ROCK AND STONE, BROTHA!*
Im shocked he hasnt done anything with them yet. Dont even need to be just beers because im sure the alcohol content of some of those is well over 50% lol
@@percher4824
ROCK
AND
STONE
Karl would approve
@@percher4824 ROCK AND STONE TO THE BONE
Very cool. Yes carbonation changes the flavors so much. Ive been home brewing and always amazed at how much the flavor changes after force carbonating the beer. Some flavors get covered up and some get brought forward.
The Gunpla builder in my liked seeing the plasticard make an appearance. In the Gunpla hobby, we call it pla plate, but it's essentially all the same thing!
im with you on the super mario bros 2 potion being the go-to cocktail idea, yours looks great!
Oh we know you've been practicing that button-mashing motion your whole life
Who needs sound bites, Greg can just do all the sounds himself.
film school paid off in the intro for sure!! love ya Greg!
The stencil technique worked out so well!
I can only imagine Greg going home while drinking out of a laboratory flask saying “honey, I’m home”.
petition to get Greg to remake official version of door potion accounting for his ideas like the strawberry syrup.
These were fun drinks! I could make the mushroom ones super easily
I love the sound effects in this one
Great episode and can't wait for the movie to come out
14:10
Stroh 80 is a great one too.
I get alot of raisin, which is great for me because I love rum and raisin ice cream.
Legit that opening made me feel nostalgia tingles, you would make a great Lou Albano
Greg rules. Mere rules.Htd rules so much effort and hard graft goes into this and its still fun and entertaining. Cheers errbody
It's the Super Mario H.T.D Super Show!!
Super Mario World on SNES is amazing! Loved the cape flying and secret exits playthrough. Still have an old school working cartridge with my *96 exits playthroughs. I replay it every few months. Still fun to me!
Greg As Wario: I'm a gonna win......... At making Drinks
Amazing episode
this was super fun and these drinks all sound nice. if you were to do another, some powerups id recommend you draw inspiration from would be a poison shroom, a tanooki leaf, a power star, maybe a blue shell
I love tanooki Mario, Super Mario bros 3 for I forget what handheld was easily one of my favorite games (we jumped from nes to n64, so never had the snes versions unless they were on gb/gba/ds)
Greg, I know you enjoy old fashioneds. I had one of the best old fashioneds I've ever had, and it was a little out of the ordinary. It used vanilla infused symple syrup and garam masala bitters. Sounds a little strange, but it worked so well.
Clove!! That, to me, is the dominant flavor of Velvet Falernum. Would love to see a whole episode dedicated to the stuff. Corn 'n' Oil is one of my go to drinks at home.
This is the greatest video I have ever seen. Mainly due to that god-tier intro.
Very neat to watch a video so soon after it comes out that no one in the comments could have even finished it yet
Will try the door potion. One of my favorite drinks is the Fresa Brava from death&co- I use jalapeño tequila to pair with strawberry syrup. Think I’ll modify it with a jalapeño mezcal infusion
this was so much fun tbh, if I had the means id definitely try to recreate them all
I don't know why but I feel like episodes like this would be amazing to invite guests on
As someone who played SMB2 so much I beat it in all the ways, even a no warp run, all the stages, but back before that was a thing, YES to the Potion.
Once again, your intros are perfect 😂😂😂
I like how we're now just making drinks and pouring Ango in them. I respect it.
Love this channel, sadly I’m just a touch young to drink. You should have an episode where you try and come up with some alternatives to use for different spirits!
Happy 400+ videos of HTD!
I always love video game drinks. Maybe it's just because I game too much. But I'm so excited for the Mario movie. I might sneak in one of these drinks to the theater ;D
We had the Nintendo NES Max controller with the turbo buttons. Never had to worry about crazy tapping
Those stencils worked great!
I went from Atari 2600 to SNES. Never played the original NES Mario games, but Super Mario World and Super Mario RPG were my jam. Also, original Mortal Kombat really improved my button speed because of the Test Your Might bits.
I made the door potion with strawberry puree, the drink is so so so good. Another idea would be to try a peach variation on the door potion for Princess Peach.
I needed a funny pick me up thanks, have a good day🤗🤗💜💜
Oh god that intro was a big memory unlock. DO THE MARIO!
Also 26:11 is a great idea. Game night where you play Mario Party while drinking Mario themed drinks
dude, you gotta do more videos where you serve cocktails in the erlenmeyer flask, fizzy drinks with crushed ice and interesting colors
My first idea on making those mushroom circles was to have circular ice cubes. Either you place them atop the powder, or you place them, powder, then remove them.
Let's a Go !!, Bring Ha ~
That Intro, Whaw!!
I would say make a bigger circle outline of the glass and than make holes in that circle to give you the effect you needed. All and all great drinks.
I Can not wait to see you make the Mario characters like the goomba, Mario, Luigi, wario, Yoshi, Ect
Okay I didn't see the goomba lurking until a zoom out and I legit did a double take 😅
Wario was spot on, I've played a couple of the galaxy games but Mario 64 is still a favorite
i fucking love how Greg make the sfx for the video, looks like me when i was little doing the mario sfx as i play, that's some peak Greg entretainment!
I have to say you make a fantastic Wario
warhammer cocktails when? i want to drink BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD
Yeah, Surfacers don’t tend to enjoy London’s mushroom wines, but the Neathy Darkdrop coffee is much-adored.
Wait, did Greg just admit to playing Warhammer? Recaff and Armisec videos when??? Lets get Grotsnik's Mad Dok Toxic Shot! Little bit of Campari and Aelfari. Tech Priest's Motor Oil. Lets DO THIS! 10th edition was just announced so it's coming out this summer. Lets get some Tyranid Biomass In a Glass to celebrate the range refresh!
intro made me rewatch a 5 year old ytp about the super mario bros show.
Epcot drinks!!! We need Epcot drinks!!! Haha the Gin mint tea freeze will forever be a Moroccan staple
id look to see your take on some of the world of warcraft drinks such as the flasks / potions / actual in game drinks like the kungaloosh
Regarding that strawberry syrup, I made it more as a cheong, and it is *great* as a soda syrup or mixer
If you are making video game drinks, try making drinks from "Sunless Sea". Very... Eldritch. I'm sure you'll love them.
And still waiting for you to delve into the fancy, decadent drinks featured in the books of the Gentlemen Bastards series (may Scott Lynch finally completes the remaining 4 books).
