So many great lines in this video but the one that hit me the hardest was “Time feels infinite when you’re young. A month is an age… a year is a life time… it is a strange feeling to realise how little of it one might have left.” Feels like straight out of a book
Ah, yes. Elminster. In classic BG, he's a sack of 26,000XP if you manage to backstab him before he walk away after dropping his 2 lines cryptic of dialogue.
roundabout 80 i thought, but yeah, easy to kill and only a construct.... why complaining about shoes of a construct - and never wasting food on it again ;o) - but will he come back so or will Gale consume items forever now so ?@@Aureilius2112
I never bother with Elminster in the original, seemed like too much of a hassle, while Drizzit not only gave you XP but also his badass scimitars and chainmail.
Like moons make swell and wain the nescient seas, so to the sky-strewn gods ordain the tidal fates of mortal days. And yet, notion born in lonely hours - come ebb, come flow, come all that is beyond the breadth of our dominion: be a moon unto yourself. Even the waves of fate can break on the shores of will. - Elminster from Baldur’s Gate III Now that is some great writing!!!!!!!!!!!
What I love with Elminster is after eating he pretends to babble comparing words to food but actually saying "Ignore the message I repeating and listen to what I really say". Gale is quick to declare the bumbling an act but misses he was told to find another way. Hopefully he gets later.
Elminster is my favorite kind of Wizard: The Classic. Hes the wise old man thats seemingly immortal and speaks with such fluent speech patterns its almost mesmerizing to hear him talk and makes you almost feel ashamed you cant be such a wordsmith of your own native language.
I know Simon has one cousin out there, her name is Amarune Whitewave, and she is the granddaughter of Elminster's half-dragon daughter Narnra Shalance. Yeah, he banged a dragon (Actually he didn't know Narnra's mom was a dragon, dragons can disguise themselves as humans and elves either naturally or with magical items). Centuries before that, he lost his virginity to Mystra herself.
Meshifuari has the right of it, actually. Souls and the afterlife definitely exist in this setting. You can even visit them, if you have the right spells (You won't be able to see the whole place unless you are dead though.). Being a staunch devotee of Mystra, Gale will, without a doubt, be shuffled off to Mystra's plane after he dies. Even if Mystra doesn't come grab him personally, Kelimvor, the god of the dead, will make sure he's shuffled off to her realm. In other words, she'll definitely be seeing him again if he dies. More surely than if he lived, in fact.
I remember reading Elminster’s first arc (I believe it was four or five books?) over a decade ago. I fanboyed like crazy when I met this legend once again.
@hideonbush5537 no he was the real one because i could loot his body, the projection turns to water when killed. You can easily defeat him using silence spell and dazing/stunning/ensnaring.

Should I feel bad that one who has bedded (a version of) the Goddess of Magic is basically telling a later man who did the same to go kill himself? It also seems odd that Mystra can't just deprive a certain Artifact of the Weave's power, and just...but them it's always a reason the Mighty can't just do what is called upon the Destined to, plus it wouldn't be much of a game then.😊 Does make one wonder, though, if Gale HADN'T given into temptation, and received the Orb, THEN what chance would Mystra, or someone else, offer to fix the crisis? Also, if you Origin run Gale, is the entire point of the story just a sacrifice run to the end, where your main basically gets to blow himself up, and enjoy the credits posthumously? It might be cool, but it would also suck.

He always sort of has had a resemblance, but the fact that this game chose to *really* make Elmimster look like Ed Greenwood is a nice touch.

"Be a moon unto yourself". God what a great line.
Fun fact, this is Simon’s Great Great Grandfather from the D&D movie!
The ancestor of Simon from the Honor Among Thieves movie, ladies and gentlemen!
