It’s a very cool pattern that takes some time to tie but looks excellent in the fly box, and while I haven’t fished, it seems like it's hard to go wrong with a buggy pattern like this! I’ve been really into tying larva patterns like your caddis with the turkey tail legs recently. I used turkey biots instead because I don’t have turkey tail and it worked great, it’s an awesome pattern. Congrats to tiesflies for winning. This is an awesome pattern.

You could swap them out for a peacock hurl and white thread or even a black could look good. Alternatively, a wire would work too

Just getting back into fly fishing. Have a bunch of flies, but either I tied them as a kid, or my granddad tied them and I'm not willing to lose or tear them up. Ordering some until my wife allows me to get my fly tying stuff out and make a mess, lol.
I just started fly tying and I like doing it do you have any tips where I can get materials for a reasonable price because now I’m just using metal wire, sewing thread and feathers from our rhea, chickens, Guinea fowl…. that they lost 😅

I got a lot of mine from people who have passed away, and their spouses did not know what to do with the feathers. I also hunt, making for a multi-year supply from a single animal. Craft stores are also great places to check out. Finally, I buy the odds and ends I need from fly shops.

Good ears! The microphone I use is a very popular one for radio shows. The RE20 has quite the iconic sound. That's probably the connection you are hearing.

you can UV glue them in place but then they will just break off
