Godzilla is naturally buoyant, which gives strong backing to the idea that it has a swim bladder or other such organs that give it the ability to go vertical in water.
The mechanic's biggest regret is that everything he built, all the machines he fixed, all he did, never helped save people's lives, he was a mechanic at a kamikaze's station. With that in the end, he finally did. It helped end his war too.

I cried on opening night. I cried in black and white. I cried on Netflix. And now I cried during your watch. This movie just makes me so emotional it's incredible and I'm glad you all enjoyed it!
Im a former US Marine. Served 6 years. Was in 2d marine division Serving in desert storm. And yes, i cried during this movie. And i tear up even now. This movie is very emotional.
I think it's because they're locked on: the eyes felt motionless while the body raced forward It reaches right into your most primitive terrors, before humans became apex predators and were just a delicious part of the food chain
He didn’t regret because it was dishonorable. It was due to survivor’s guilt. He came back home because his family told him to survive at all costs. He had to learn that it takes bravery to live.
I love the theme at the beginning, saying, "Come back alive... that's what you said." And then the entire movie he can't let himself live until he finds another purpose to return home alive.
I saw this in the theater with my kids, and suddenly, I was that little 9 year old girl who first discovered Godzilla as a child! This movie is AWESOME! Great story, great acting, and visual effects worthy of their Oscar win! Long live GODZILLA! ❤❤❤
I'd rephrase that, considering a common complaint about Godzilla films is they focus too much on people and not enough on Godzilla. But it is special that they managed to write a captivating story for the people and still be a Godzilla film.
Not really, most of them are and are definitely not as good. What does make it special is that they actually make you CARE about the people in the movie.
I heard a great quote that, “You could take Godzilla out of this movie and it would still be phenomenal” I love this movie so much. It’s so beautiful and bad ass all at the same time. The music, the sound design, the depth of the characters, the visual effects, everything about it was perfection. And yes, seeing it in theaters only enriched that experience.
What I love about this story is that Godzilla was essentially the pilot's demon haunting him. They made Godzilla a significant part of the story and he wasn't just there like the North America version.
This movie managed to make the human characters more the focus of the film, had an INCREDIBLE emotional arc, and a soundtrack that absolutely killed it. Had to fight from breaking down in that third act...
So glad you got to this movie! Well-done using subtitles instead of dubbing! A few fun facts: The fish at the beginning are deep sea fish and their swim bladders have ruptured (the balloon looking things). I also like to think that Shikishima found Noriko in Ginza because he saw her fall out of the train. There is a moment where Tachibana (the mechanic) sees the German lettering on the seat's label in the cockpit. The lore is that Japan had gotten Nazi parts late in the war. Lastly, the thing on her neck is G-cells, Godzilla's tissue that he shed with the breath attack. The news report mentions them briefly. It's a bit of lore from the classic Godzilla movies. It helped her heal.
Yeah, too many people rely on dubs when subs provide some much more (imo). I get why a lot of people use dubs and they are excellent resources. But I'm a sub guy all the way.
I agree with everyone else: This here is the best Godzilla movie of the last 30 years easily. They have managed to capture the style of the 50s with brilliant CGI and for a lack of a better word "puppet play". And the skill of the actors is unmatched..the male lead could have easily gotten an oscar as well..that scaream in the black rain was one of the most haunting psychological pain scenes I have ever seen. The cinema was shocked for minutes after and couldnt recover...
I also really like that the war veterans were the ones who saved everyone! The US or Japanese government not being involved in saving the country from Godzilla made the movie even better.
My favorite movie of all time, didn’t plan it, but saw it 8 times in the theater ( including IMAX) during its 2 month US run. Oak, since you appreciate WWII history, all the heavy machinery was accurate. Battleship Takao went to Singapore after the war and was sunk as target practice. The Chi-to tanks defending Tokyo, and the 4 decommissioned destroyers used at the end were real. A year prior to movie release, a full rebuilt mock-up of the Magnificent Lightning Shinden fighter was donated to a Japanese flight museum. It wasn’t revealed until the movie debuted that it was built for and filmed in the movie. There were 2 actual Shinden fighters built to fight off American bombers. 2 test missions were flown ( footage is on RUclips ) but the atomic bombs were dropped and the war ended. One model was destroyed or lost, the fuselage of the other sits in the Smithsonian flight museum. I had no idea what it was, but I have a picture of it from a visit years ago! Blew my mind. Best Godzilla movie of all time, loved y’all’s reaction and comments.
My husband made me watch this movie and I was not happy being forced to watch it. But pretty quickly into the movie I started loving it. That human pov looking up at Godzilla won me over immediately. ... And I don't care that she survived at the end I loved it! Call it unbelievable call it bad writing idc I'm glad she's alive!!!
@@kingjellybean9795 there is many theory and peopel quoting the movie director but not always saying the same stuff, it goes from sad radiation sicknesss ( after all it was nuclear explosion and fallout), godzilla cell that may turn her into something else, or the cell only give her regenerative power ( explaining why she has no scare and look like only having a few injury). all in all it is a open ending they could make a sequel or never make one and that would still be good movie don't always need a sequel ( like the first matrix was good all by itself to me) personnal take on the mark, either godzilla regen, or in a more "friendly" way she could later "feel" godzilla like mothra priestress ( only read about old godzilla etc movie so i may be far off XD) all because was curious about gamera due to a manga character
I saw it in a regular (fairly big) theater and absolutely loved it but was able to get back to see it in an IMAX about a week later. I was absolutely floored how great it sounded and how you felt the explosions and roars. The best sound design of any movie I've ever seen and the action was even better on that screen. I feel bad for anyone that didn't get the chance to experience it. Outside of Avatar, easily the best IMAX film I've ever seen.
Saw this in theaters with my 8yr old, in Japanese with subtitles and she absolutely loves it! Forget watching Frozen once a day, she watches this movie (now dubbed) and still absolutely her favorite movie!.
Godzilla's G-cells embedded on Noriko's body. Helped her regeneration though it is not mentioned/known if she will continue to mutate into something else
This is a great movie, let alone a great Godzilla movie. The dialogue, the acting, the production design, the creature design, the sound design, the visual effects, the direction, the editing, it’s all fantastic. Character development is off the chain for most of the characters. I’m glad they showed Godzilla getting hit by the atomic bomb, and getting burned. So when you see him next, you understand why he’s bigger now. Brilliant.
So some fun facts, the director of this movie was also a SFX worker, and he personally did most of if not all of the SFX for this movie. The reason why this movie is called Minus One is because when WW2 Ended, Japan was essentially sent back to 0, Godzilla's appearance sent Japan lower than 0 resulting Japan being Minus One. While this Godzilla is pretty big, he is MUCH smaller than Monsterverse Godzilla. Just some things I found out about the movie glad you liked it.
"Live" Such a simple word but means everything, the whole theme of this movie, so beautiful. Godzilla looked so good and unnerving, shit his gaze was creeping me out, but the acting? I had chills watching the actors deliver their monologues, and crying in a godzilla movie wasn't part of my plans. I sobbed like a baby when Sumiko gave the telegram to Kōichi bc I knew it meant Noriko was alive. Only LOTR and TWD telltale can make cry like that
I love how the theme they use during Godzilla's attack on the city is from "Mothra vs Godzilla". It may not make sense because Mothra's not in this, but her parts of the theme really fit the feelings of helplessness and terror the humans are experiencing.
So at the end, the director confirmed Noriko is infected with Godzilla's cells (G cells). These cells are highly mutagenic and as we saw with Godzilla, have regenerative properties. It's very possible Noriko regenerated part of herself when she came in contact with the cells and why she doesn't look as damaged. I don't know what the future holds, but it wouldn't surprise me if we get some really dark stuff with her continuing to transform. Think Godzilla meets The Thing
Hey thanks for the info bout Noriko. I hadn't heard that & for some reason I didn't notice that area on her first time I watched this. Appreciate it!❤💞❤️
Biollante was born out of Dr. Genichiro Shiragami's splicing of Godzilla cells into a rose that he had already spliced his dead daughter's cells into, causing it to mutate at an accelerated pace and become a giant flower monster with the consciousness of Shiragami's daughter still inside of it. Could be this kinda situation
Everyone gets confused on why the girl pushed him into the ally instead of tackling him through. IMO there just wasnt enough time for her to get the momentum and strength needed to save both, so she used her body weight to shove him aside. Newtons Laws and all that
I like to call this the "mom" reflex with the best example I give is mothers when driving will typically put their arm out to protect the passenger. There is also the fact that it did the anime slow down which I think is the reason for the reasonable frustration
Surprisingly enough, this movie’s closest competitor is the original 1954 release. As a sidenote, Norico is probably infected with Godzilla’s G-cells, which is a concept from other Godzilla movies. If so, it would explain her survival.
The first SFX Oscar I've seen given for 'incredible bang for the buck". It was very janky at times, like whenever Godzilla was walking on land, or with smaller things like the bag inflation, but overall it was great and when you factor in the costs, it is stunning.
that opening sequence was such a good analogy for the kamikaze program. Shooting the canon wouldn't do anything, it guarantees death, and he is treated like crap for not senselessly dying.
@@Sage2000 it was already Godzilla, it just wasn't that strong/big, but if it survived the heat and damage of a nuke close by, that 20mm would just tickle it
@@Sage2000 He had a shot into Godzilla's thigh, he woulda just pissed it off and died, then everyone else would still die. Maybe it coulda done some damage from the air, but he had no chance of taking off.
@@zannchristo I may be wrong, but at that point he was a Dino. No regenerative magical Powers. The nuclear was NOT at close range, Godzilla was insiste the water, and the imagem shows he got hit with a massive dose of radiation, not a concussive blast. Then Godzilla essentially became a mutant
Best Godzilla movie I've ever seen! Never thought that a Godzilla movie would make me cry! ♥ Watched this nite before our 12 day trip to Japan! We got pictures of the theater that has Godzilla's head on top. 🦖
HOLY CRAP, do I believe the Oscar hype!!!! Minus One was beautifully done and animated. I wasn't expecting Noriko to have survived, but those Godzilla cells literally saved her neck.
You're not wrong, Minus One is also sort of a remake or reboot of Godzilla 1954. There was a theatrical black and white showing, and throughout the film there's a lot of shots like you pointed out that references back to the original. In this story, Godzilla being a prehistoric dinosaur that was mutated through nuclear testing to become what it is now, a consequence of human meddling in powers they cannot control. In a lot of Godzilla's lore, he's able to regenerate due to the mutation he's endured through radiation. I believe chunks of him is what created Baby Godzilla where there's a bit of wackiness in that era. His son would succeed the original Godzilla once he grew up, and the original dies with his son taking over the mantle. Sometimes there's also some supernatural elements as well depending on the director. There was one story where Godzilla represented all the Vengeful human spirits from the atomic bombing culminating into a raging monster and to stop the evil spirit required the 3 guardians, I believe this is the only time Ghidorah was a good guy. That's the best thing about Godzilla over the decades, he is flexible in being different things: a hero, a villain, representation of the horrors of the nuclear aftermath, nature's wrath, etc.
I wouldn't call it a reboot of the original one. I mean, the reason why it's called "Minus One" is because it's made as a prequel to the original 1954 one.
@@SuddenReal it is called minus one because japan just suffered from the war and everything went back to zero for all of japan, then comes godzilla which made the situation worst hence from 0 to -1 minus one.
The plane at the end is the J7W1 Shinden, armed with some 30mm cannons, and about 150 miles an hour faster than the Zero he flew in the war. Pretty good plane for him to use to run away from Godzilla with. Also the theory of her survival is because she was infected by G-cells, which would give her a manner of regeneration.
Grew up on all the old Godzilla movies- and I do mean all of them, my brother was OBSESSED and was always digging up another one- and I love Godzilla in all his shades (bad guy, good guy, in-between)- this right up there as one my favorites. That scene at the very end where the mechanic hears "pilot lived", something he never got to hear as a mechanic for kamikaze mechanic and just that look on his face- I full on sob every time. Cried in the theater, cried watching it at home, and even now watching your reaction, I still get choked up. Such a powerful movie.
I just clicked on the thumnail, the video hasn't even started yet, and I'm saying: YYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS!!! You guys are watching the best Godzilla movie ever made!!! What is my rating for this movie on a scale of 1 to 5? 20! (and I don't just give that away. this movie really earned it for me.) the director confirmed that what was seen on Noriko's neck at the end, was some of Godzilla's cells that had embedded in her in the shockwave that hit, and it's why you don't see a scratch on her other than the bandage on her head and her arm in a sling... she was in the process of regenerating herself! but here's a call back to one of my all time favorite Godzilla movies (because it scared me so bad when I was little, seeing it on the big screen in a drive-in theater back in 1974, and I was 10 years old): Godzilla vs. The Smog Monster (a.k.a. Hedora) and if you read this far... there is another Japanese movie made (not Godzilla, but a pre-war Japan) that I love, called The Great War of Archimedes, and it had to do with a "conspiracy" of funding for the construction of the legendary battleship Yamato.
The fish floating around are “ryugu no tsukai,” a messenger from the palace of the sea god. Others dramatically dubbed it the Harbinger of Doom, or simply the Doomsday Fish. they appear in japan before seaquakes.
Ryugu no tsukai are big eel-like mythological creatures that are supposed to be 5 to 18 meters in length with human heads and horns, and sometimes beards. Sometimes people called oarfish that; they are also very long and eel-like, and it takes a line of several people to hold one. I didn't see anything like that in the movie.
this was such an interesting movie, i never truly realized how low of a point japan was in immediately after the war. + kamikaze pilot with the ejection seat at the end was good irony

And… I love the soundtrack very much! I listen to it almost very often and I never get sick of it. It gives me chills every time I hear it. Half of the time, the music is downright terrifying. Full of dread and suspense. The ominous air sirens reminds me Chernobyl and The Lighthouse. It’s like the feeling of doom slowly approaching. The other half of the music is hauntingly beautiful, emotional and somber. Sometimes it’s full of bleakness and other times, it’s full of hopefulness. I love how Sato uses the strings, brass, choirs and electronics together. To me, it sounds like a dance. Particularly with the strings and brass and how they play off each other. Of course, the film would not be complete without Godzilla’s signature theme. It’s sounds very consistent but has an “updated” feel to it. Powerful, triumphant and intense. I liked that there are 3 versions of it and my favorite is the second cue that plays during the final confrontation. But I love how impactful the drums of the third cue sounds!
That black bruise mark growing on noriko at the ending - she has G cells in her body or godzilla cells just like godzilla it was confirmed by the director himself in a fest and what does G cells do simple they help godzilla to heal may be thats why she survived the blast now she's mutated with godzilla cells.
YESS YESS YESSS I LOVE YOU GUYS AND THIS MOVIE!!! Seeing this video pop up on feed just made my night. Thank you! Cant wait to eat my mcdonalds and watch this along with you guys.
After Godzilla Minus One became a number hit in the US, the director of the American 2014 Godzilla, Gareth Edwards, said in an interview, "...and I must admit I felt a twinge of jealousy throughout the entire viewing." and that, "This is what a Godzilla movie should be like."
Absolutely AMAZING MOVIE!! And oh man Godzilla looks like an absolute menace. Those eyes coming out if the ocean.... I think the fish looking like their insides are spilling out has ti do with pressure. Deep sea fish being forced to the top. Something like that.🤷♀️
I'm a citizen of Hiroshima Prefecture. In this movie, there are 30,000 victims of Godzilla's Atomic Breath, but I will explain the actual atomic bombing. The temperature at 8:15 a.m. on August 15, 1945 was less than 30 degrees Celsius, but it instantly rose to 3000 degrees due to the atomic bombing of the B29 bomber. The damage situation at that time has been revealed by a follow-up survey by the ongoing obsession of Hiroshima City. First of all, people within a radius of 1 km from the hypocenter instantly boiled blood in their bodies due to high temperatures, and blood vessels ruptured and died instantly. And people within 1 kilometer outside it were caught in a building that collapsed by the blast and became immobile and burned to death due to the fire. In addition, in the outer 1 kilometer range, people suffered for three days and three nights because they were exposed to the high-concentration radioactive rain that fell immediately after the atomic bomb. At this moment, the lives of about 90,000 citizens were lost. In addition, American prisoners of war who were imprisoned in Hiroshima City also followed the same fate.
The Toho Cinema in Tokyo has a giant Godzilla popping out of it 😂 it’s a highlight of the movie going experience there for sure. This movie had me absolutely bawling. Outstanding casting and honoring the roots of Godzilla.
Yeah, I totally agree with the analysis of this movie. It's amazing how they made such a great film with only $15 million. I hope Hollywood takes note and realizes that you don't need a huge budget to make a great movie. And the Godzilla roar was so on point! It was the same one I grew up with. Overall, it's an incredible movie about the horrors of war and the strength of the survivors.
I was stunned when movie ended. It was so good in many ways - CGI and Godzi are so real, team deserved Oskar. And you can feel the pain of post war Japan and people's grief and how they were traumatized.
So, in the older Godzilla movies, it was established over time that Godzilla has an incredible healing factor. My favorite version of this was Godzilla 2000, a great Godzilla movie if you've never seen it, introducing one of my favorite of Godzillas enemies.
2:11 air bladder sticking out of their mouth. If a deep sea fish comes to the surface too quickly, that's what will happen. 11:01 Takao and company. All the Japanese warships are modeled after ones that survived the war. I like that attention to detail. 14:01 Godzilla isn't standing, Just treading water with it's stupidly strong legs. 16:48 a 100% CGI shot. Outstanding quality. Stuff like is why it won the Academy Award for fx. 33:13 the 46 centimeter shell reference makes no sense. That's an 18.1 inch shell, the same size as the BB Yamato fired. I suspect they were talking about the freon gas cylinders which MIGHT be 46cm. 40:47 The growing black mark on her neck. According to the director, it's the setup for the sequel. When Godzilla fired his heat ray at Ginza, he blasted off bits of his flesh. A piece of that was embedded in her when it was carried by the blast wave. It seems she can regenerate. And Who Knows What Else?
Remember the psychic girl from the Heisei era Godzilla films? Maybe they're setting Noriko up - or a descendant of hers - to be someone who has a psychic connection to Godzilla similar to that?
I think Noriko survived because of the thing on her neck or whatever caused it, i.e. Godzilla regenerates, and in some way Noriko is regenerating from exposure to his radiation or something. Therefore I'm also guessing that in the sequel "hey Noriko how the f have you been able to heal so fast and your eye should've been toast but you have full function' and so on will be a plot point lol.
When the bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki the explosion seeded the clouds and caused a Black Rain(Kuroi Ame) to fall shortly after. That rain, filled with radioactive particulates coated everything. Because homes and infrastructure were destroyed survivors could not change clothes so those particulates remained on them. With few sources of running water people boiled what they could find to drink, but the Black Rain had washed into the water they found and unknown to them boiling would not remove the radioactive particulates. So that rain that falls after Godzilla strikes with the nuclear breath has very deep significance in Japan as detailed in a 1965 novel named Black Rain. The book was made into a Japanese film in 1989 but it was overshadowed in the US by Ridley Scott's film of the same name, which also came out that year, about two American Cops who go to Japan and become embroiled in a case when the prisoner they were extraditing to Japan escapes.
Reactors always say that she should have dove in between the buildings with him or tackled him so both him and her would be safe but those people don’t take physics into account. By pushing him away from herself (as seen in the film) she uses counter force to gain energy in her shove, causing him to move away while she moves in the opposite direction. A “tackle” or “diving in” with him would require more energy in order to carry them the distance needed for safety. More potential energy built up, like say in a run, that would then be transferred to them both as kinetic energy once she collided with him so they could “fly” into the space between buildings. That maneuver is next to impossible given how close they are and her relatively lower mass in relation to his.
This is how to do a proper giant monster movie. The monster is there to give the humans in the movie somethi!g to fight against or run away from. The people must matter more than the monster. Then again, I'm also a sucker for the giant punch 'em up movies haha
For me, Sumiko was the most surprising character. Introduced as an angry, bitter Karen, she quickly evolved into a caring... though brusque... friend and neighbor. Hollywood never would have given her an arc like that.
Been looking forward to this reaction from you guys! This movie is absolutely fantastic. Like you guys alluded to, so many other Gozilla movies put the human story second fiddle to the monsters, and so the monsters' absence is sometimes really felt when other movies focus on the humans. Not the case for this one! If you haven't seen it already, I highly suggest watching the original 1954 Gojira. For me, Minus One and the original Gojira are neck and neck for which one is the best Godzilla movie.
Looking forward to it's sequel the "Bride of Godzilla" it will be about Noriko going on a rampage in a shopping maul. This is one of my favourite Godzilla films I like the darker story good to go back to the darker 1954 film, and using the sound track.
Seeing how the people built themselves up from nothing without the governments help and even when they escaped war, having to go back to risking their lives against a seemingly impossible living biological weapon, is just very inspirational. It really helps build respect for the human cast. I was so invested in the cast that I didn't want any of them to die. Best Godzilla movie ever.
I loved how Godzilla went back to his villainous roots here and became the bad guy again. One of the things I found most interesting is that at first when we see him in the beginning, Godzilla seemed to have a contempt but also a surprising curious view of humans. The only time he attacked is when he felt threatened or provoked into doing so. Kind of like a corned animal defending their territory. But once he transformed and mutated into his more familiar form, his contempt of humanity into outright misanthropic hatred. It is implied or suggested that Godzilla blames humans for his condition and wants to punish us for it. That’s why he’s so outlandish in his destruction and violence. I honestly can’t really blame him too much. Humans kept messing with the natural order of things and not to mention that we kept dropping bombs and shit on him all the while he’s trying to heal from his wounds. I’d be pissed or resentful too!
Wrong.Wrong.Wrong.Godzilla obviously heard there was a sale on at the local fish shop and was desperate to get to the front of the queue. You ever tried getting fresh tilapia?
Have you all seen Shin Godzilla? Another devastating breath blast. As for the mine sweeper. Even when I was in the Navy in the late 80's those types of ships were used in the Persian Gulf area. Wooden hulls aren't magnetic but there are other types of mines that they would have to worry about.
phenomenal movie! my new favorite godzilla movie. MAJOR kudos for all the actors, especially the lead, Ryunosuke Kamiki, his anguish was palpable throughout the film! my only real complaint about the movie is the whole, zilla looking like hes standing in shallow water when he isnt. but theyve done that in several movies. i just suspend disbelief and accept that its something i dont understand and is never explained. 🙂
This is a very good movie, at the very least, which just happens to have a Godzilla in it I loved the call backs on this film . In reference to the story telling as well as previous movies, and not just within the Godzilla universe. It was Godzilla. 2000 that first introduced us to his healing and regenerative abilities couple with Godzilla vs Biolante. The former had been my favorite Godzilla movie before thus
I really don't like monster movies, plotless popcorn action movies -- what I call "hulk smash" movies 😂 But THIS. THIS was incredible. I'm so glad that I saw this one _in theaters!_ I was blown away. Loved seeing you guys be blown away by it too! You guys are on a ROLL, and I am HERE for it!
Loved it watching it in IMAX. Beyond the visuals, the audio was top notch - the theme, the escalating music, and great use of silence. And the atomic/heat blast… it was better than Oppenheimer. Not just a great Godzilla movie, but a great general movie of 2023.
This was very well done on such a small budget. Bravo to all involved. What was your reaction? Where does this rank on your Godzilla films?

Director got to meet with Steven Spielberg and mentioned the boat chase scene was heavily inspired by Jaws

You know it’s a special Godzilla movie when the focus is more on the people than Godzilla itself
Like 2014?
I'd rephrase that, considering a common complaint about Godzilla films is they focus too much on people and not enough on Godzilla. But it is special that they managed to write a captivating story for the people and still be a Godzilla film.
@@JakkFrost1Except much better. The 2014 movie was not nearly as engaging with the humans or Godzilla.
@@continuallyblessed44 that was my point, I was being ironic.

Good to see someone appreciate this particular plane. And I would add aesthetically pleasing as only the Japanese could do.
My husband made me watch this movie and I was not happy being forced to watch it. But pretty quickly into the movie I started loving it. That human pov looking up at Godzilla won me over immediately.

@@kingjellybean9795 there is many theory and peopel quoting the movie director but not always saying the same stuff, it goes from sad radiation sicknesss ( after all it was nuclear explosion and fallout), godzilla cell that may turn her into something else, or the cell only give her regenerative power ( explaining why she has no scare and look like only having a few injury). all in all it is a open ending they could make a sequel or never make one and that would still be good

I really hope they re-released this back to the theaters here in the US. Seeing this movie in the theaters in imax is quite the experience.

Only LOTR and TWD telltale can make cry like that
Incredibly designed Godzilla, one of the best
Appreciate it!❤💞❤️
We might get the shelved idea from Shin Godzilla.
The actress was quoted as saying that if they do a sequel everyone will be running away from her. I believe she was trying to be funny.
So she is an idiot

Dying for your country is honorable but I think it’s better to live for it
"No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for HIS country..."

What is my rating for this movie on a scale of 1 to 5? 20! (and I don't just give that away. this movie really earned it for me.)
the director confirmed that what was seen on Noriko's neck at the end, was some of Godzilla's cells that had embedded in her in the shockwave that hit, and it's why you don't see a scratch on her other than the bandage on her head and her arm in a sling... she was in the process of regenerating herself!
but here's a call back to one of my all time favorite Godzilla movies (because it scared me so bad when I was little, seeing it on the big screen in a drive-in theater back in 1974, and I was 10 years old): Godzilla vs. The Smog Monster (a.k.a. Hedora)
and if you read this far... there is another Japanese movie made (not Godzilla, but a pre-war Japan) that I love, called The Great War of Archimedes, and it had to do with a "conspiracy" of funding for the construction of the legendary battleship Yamato.

You know how long I have been waiting for this one. Writing this while just listening to audio.

She is a famous actress who plays various roles in Japan.
Brought me to TEARS!~~ Saw in theatres 4 times. Unbelievable FILM!
This is by far the best Godzilla movie ever made in my opinion and not only is it my favorite Godzilla movie, but it is also in my top five all time
I loved how Godzilla went back to his villainous roots here and became the bad guy again.
This is a very good movie, at the very least, which just happens to have a Godzilla in it
I loved the call backs on this film . In reference to the story telling as well as previous movies, and not just within the Godzilla universe.
It was Godzilla. 2000 that first introduced us to his healing and regenerative abilities couple with Godzilla vs Biolante. The former had been my favorite Godzilla movie before thus
Godzillas regeneration has always been part of his history.
Best Godzilla film since 1954!
Loved it watching it in IMAX. Beyond the visuals, the audio was top notch - the theme, the escalating music, and great use of silence. And the atomic/heat blast… it was better than Oppenheimer.
Not just a great Godzilla movie, but a great general movie of 2023.
I agree this movie was amazing!!! Everything about this was what I was hoping & I was not disappointed!❤💞❤️
