- Here is an unscripted video where I discuss the live-action Godzilla vs. Gigan short film that premiered on Godzilla Day of 2022, as commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Godzilla vs. Gigan. I also discuss the short film's emphasis on the traditional style of Toho's filmmaking via a return to suitmation in comparison to other projects in the Reiwa Era of Godzilla content. Hope you all find this video worthwhile and worth the food for thought despite the unscripted nature.
NOTE: This video falls under Fair Use, as it is a review/discussion on the short film in question which also includes imagery from other copyrighted media for references.

I really hope Toho will return to making full length Godzilla films with suitmotion again. I really miss those traditional type of films.
I’ve been a Godzilla fan for 43 years. I’ll be 46 in January and Godzilla has been apart of my hole life every time I watch a movie it brings me back to simpler times in my life and brings a smile to my face. My wife doesn’t understand it😂 but Godzilla is very special to me. I really don’t care which way it goes. I like both. Godzilla has always been weird in its direction. Serious with a message one movie and more kids directed the next and stayed there for awhile then back the other way again with the new ones and Shin Godzilla which was fantastic.really I don’t care Godzilla got a special place in my heart and I love it all.
1985. Best Godzilla iteration ever.
David I’ve got over 10 years on you and I feel the same. Maybe it was building the Aurora model kit with my Dad when I was 6 or 7 or all those Saturdays watching Creature Double Feature on our local tv channel. A lot of guys our age love these old movies. Reminds me of “comfort food” takes you back to a simpler time in life.
Love these type of unscripted videos, feels more natural. Sub earned. Love it
Thanks for the sub. I appreciate it. I don't usually do unscripted videos as much as more scripted essay videos on this channel, but I'm sure that more unscripted vids like this will come in the future.
Gigan is now my faverote titan now!
How do u even watch it? ive been trying to watch it for a while and ive been searching through youtube and cant find the new short film
It's on Archive.org.
I much prefer traditional or the monster verse. Shin Godzilla looks mutated and weird. Couldn't get into the Netflix animated 🎥 vies. Sucked imo.
At least with the MonsterVerse and the Gigan short films (both the live-action one and Godzilla vs. Gigan Rex), they've been sticking to a more tried-and-true style of Godzilla film and executing it well.
Whereas with the Reiwa Era so far, Shin Godzilla's mutated design is the least of that movie's issues and the Netflix/Polygon Trilogy is just a broken mess all the way around.
Hopefully that Godzilla film coming out in 2023 will be worthwhile.
@@TheC-Monster what y’all got against shin Godzilla? The second I saw the previews I wanted to watch it because of how different it looked and I was not disappointed. I wouldn’t call myself a hardcore fan but I’ve had love for Godzilla and King Kong since I was little kid.
@@chuco915C I'm not against Shin Godzilla being different. It's just that a Godzilla movie that's different and one that's well-executed aren't synonymous. Now, of course, a Godzilla movie that's different from the norm can be good; I just wouldn't say that Shin Godzilla was good no matter how different it was, and I wish it was good. On the other hand, GMK did a lot of things differently as far as a Godzilla movie goes and it's one of the best films in the franchise.
@@TheC-Monster You're on some shit if you think Shin Godzilla isn't executed well.
The shots, this suit, and the miniatures are so inspired here. Just incredible.
The more traditional way of Godzilla vs Gigan (2022) and beyond
you deserve a sub
