I’m very biased towards the basset hound for a number of reasons. They can’t run fast so they’re easy to track down when they wander off. They are EXTREMELY lazy. I live a pretty busy life. I can plop droopy down on the couch before I go to work. When I get home he’s right where I left him!!!
I think the basset hound is better to mine is currently in a foster home 🏡 ☹️ my family’s hurt so yk but he’s so funny and I don’t know what I’d do without him ☺️

I had a Basset Hound for more than 12 years until cancer got the better of him and I thought he was the most stubborn dog ever but it was a cute stubborn most of the time and he will be forever missed and was was actually insanely intelligent and capable of problem solving, he once moved a kitchen chair and a box in order to get on the box then on the chair and then on the kitchen counter to get at chicken nuggets on a tray on top of the stove. I now have a Beagle and he is endlessly energetic and the name Turbo can’t possibly be anymore fitting. While my beagle is calm and lays in my lap at times he is almost uncontrollable at times when he gets excited, I call him my little Hell Hound when he gets wound up like that
I love both breeds because of their personalities. I had 2 Beagles at different times. The first one was tri colored and the second one was mostly black and white. My favorite celebrity Bassett Hound was Roscoe's Bassett Hound named Flash on the Dukes of Hazzard TV show.
I have one that is a mix of both. Rosies' mom was a mix of a Basset and Beagle, and her dad was full blooded Basset. My dog looks pretty much just like a Basset Hound but doesn't stink as bad and doesn't drool as much. Her coat favors that of a Beagle.Her bark and bay pure basset as well as her personality. I love my dog !
Beagles shred all year,they have to be on a leash in your front yard and on walks or they will take off after a scent.They love to eat and are stubborn but love people.I raised 2 purebred beagles.Smart and good memory.
I have a basset hound which is my love bug. She can be stubborn at time's, but she loves her play time and walks. But most of all she loves her morning nap time in the sun. My neighbor has a beagle which we love, she is playful and both are vocal when together.
The best thing about Beagle and Basset, because both always work for humans (tracking, leading humans and let them killed their prey) its so rare to see they have any possessive agressions. I love both breeds and for choosing one, i think its just depend on how your lifestyle and how high your energy. For me personally the important different of the two breeds is their energy level : Beagle only needs a short time of nap then their battery will full again, even after walking for hours and running with their dog friends, while for Basset a long walking is more than enough for dozed off for a long time. For me who also mischievious and can't stand many wrinkles, i chose a Beagle for my pet and Basset for my clothes brand (HP). My Beagle always could make me laugh only by seeing her silly demeanor, esp. When she does a foward roll just like human's with her head first! Its so cute! 🤣
Got to say I love beagles and have one myself. She has spent time with basset hounds and they certainly are more laid back but she isn't hard work at all. You just have to put a bit of effort in like with any dog
They make a very good alarm clock as well they just like to make you just to have fun with you and when the owner is sick you have a very good combat medical care Beagle heads and basset hounds will always check on you at anytime

My basset loves to fetch and zoom around then just relax with me.
I bought what I thought was a beagle online and looked liked a beagle until he got bigger he’s 50 lbs now 😳 I’m guessing I got a beagle/basset mix great dog though just horrible with food haha !
Beagles shed year around.... pretty much all dogs with short water resistant coats shed all year. Double coats and long coats blow their coat 2 times a year.
My grand beagle is quite the fiesty girl. She's 12 now, lost most her color, but runs around like she's 6. She is tough too, has 2 bigger brothers that are both GSD and she has no fear of them at all. I can make her howl on demand 😂😂😂
Nope.. my basset topped out at 80 pounds at 2 years old. He's nearly 10 now and the same weight. My basset is like a squish mallow cuddle buddy! Toshy Toshiba!

I choose Beagle three times. Plus I work with beagle rescues in January alone I've rescued 15 beagles

I have a mix of beagle and basset hound who I adopted at 5 years old. I think I got the best of both.

The hair from Sammy my basset hound was endless but it you hit him up with a rubber brush after his walk and a Dyson on stat it’s manageable!🐶🤯🔫
