I have no doubt this will be good. Settling in to watch. Thanks again for the work that you do to make this content.
Thank you Terry .... appreciate you spending some time watching 🍻
The best house, let's go!!!
I still have so many Chanels to explore .... Eugenes favorite house! 🤌🤌🤌
Hi Ramsey! I am startled by your Top 10 list of Chanel juices.. 90% same choice as mine.. ❤❤❤
You have great taste ❤️
31 Rue Cambon is a place I believe is where Coco Chanel lived then again some say it was the address of her flag ship store.
Awesome... thanks for sharing MDO 😊
31 Rue Cambon: the address of Coco Chanel's Paris apartment. smell swell & be well! xox
Ahhh yes always dropping tid bits of knowledge John 🙏🙏🙏
Great Video Ramsey, loved le lion when I smelt it as well.. didn’t know it’s almost been 3 yrs since its release.. would you know if it’s been reformulated ?
That I dont know... but I doubt it... chanel takes good care of their perfumes 🦁
@@RamseytheRam thanks Ramsey.. I general, how do we find out about reformulation, do brands mention it somewhere, is it our experience with the perfumes that will tell us . What’s the best way in your opinion.
Love your content. I too am not a wearer of "easy" perfume. Love old Caron Tabac Blond, Chanel no 19, Mitsouko. I love that you get the differences of how perfumes were produced back in the day compared to now. Like hardwood furniture and Ikea furniture which makes those vintage bottles all the more precious.
Great analogy... everything is mass produced particle board now a days which identifies as real sandalwood... but the people who have been paying attention know whats up 🤔
Thanks for watching & commenting 🍻
Ok, last comment, 🤣😂 Lol!
I’d pick the same fragrances. I’d rank, generally, the female frags a bit higher than the male, but that’s just my personal bias.
So my top 5, for example, would be:
1) No 19 EdT
2) Cuir de Russie EdP
3) 31 Rue Cambon EdP
4) Anteus
5) Cristalle EdT
Most Excellent Video!!!! 🙏❤️🙌🙌🙌👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks for that Rachel & thanks again for that decant of 31 Rue Cambon... i need a bottle of that its sooo good 😊
Rue de Cambon EDP or EDT?.... as someone in my frag group has a near full 200mll EDT for £100 which seems a good deal although it would be a blind buy.
Interesting rankings thanks for sharing... Oh and I have a few of Prins different releases. Prissana and Pryn Parfum. I'm a big fan of his work. ✌🏻
Nice! I have more early impressions of his and Bortnikoffs work coming soon... as soon as I trust my nose enought to start doing these early impressions again I got some good ones 😊
I’ve loved Chanel #5 extrait since I was a little girl. My grandmother wore it. I still wear it. I go through a large bottle of the extrait every year.
My favs are…
Bois des Iles
Sycamore
#19
#19 extract
Coromandel
Le Lion is becoming a fav….I’m going through samples
It’s a rough house to rank. I love Jersey too. And Gardenia extrait…it’s gorgeous and so different from the edp or edt.
I don’t really know the male targeted scents.
Nice run down.
Thanks Lynn... there are so many chanel frags I have never smelled... never smelled the Extrait of 19 or 5... never smelled Gardenia or 21 la pousa ...so many to sniff still ... so little time 😅
Just bought a partial (30-40ml) vintage Cuir de Russie EDT on eBay. Very excited! There was a bottle of La Douleur Exquise in the background of the photo too.
Thats bad a**!
Congrats... one of the greatest perfumes of all time 😊
Haha, I know this seller and I tried to get third knocked off it.... you win some, you lose some 🤷♂️ but good to know it's going to good home, well done 👍
Thoughts on Allure Homme Sport Edition Blanche? It's not super common, and I think different enough from the regular Allure Homme Sport to carve its own spot. Perhaps a bit too sweet?
Unfortunately I have never smelled it....but my guess for where I am at in my journey is it probably is a bit to sweet for me... but I never judge a book by its cover📖
Thanks for watching & commenting 🤌🤌🤌
Today I'm wearing vintage Antaeus for the first time. It is a bottle of the year 2003. Good fragrance!!
My favorite .. or one of my favs of all time 🤌🤌🤌
@@RamseytheRam I can see why it is, my friend. At the moment for me it is only a good fragrance. Very few men's fragrances have managed to blow my mind. Maybe it's that I'm very fussy, I don't know.
Hey Ram, I was revisiting this video and wondering whether you think the modern reformulation if Antaeus is worth buying, or if I should bite the bullet and buy a vintage bottle.
I always go for the vintage by habit but I have never smelled the newest version of Antaeus so I can't speak to it... some folks have told me it's a good reform, others ehhhhh not so much 🤷🏻♂️
@@RamseytheRam thanks, Ram! I went w the silver stem 2000s and will let u know what i think. As always, thank you for your expertise!
Ram have you listened to the podcast Les Oderants? I highly recommend it and they just did a Chanel episode!!!
No I have not! But I know about them and will try to make time to check them out soon 😊
Awesome 👏🏻 Chanel list on steroids for sure ,sadly I’ve quite the hole in my collection when it comes to Chanel ( not purposely Just happenstance) however what few I have are goodies lol,ie vintage #19 extrait,#5 edt,#Pour Monsieur aftershave (very vintage lol),and then in modern formulation #Antaeus and ,Blue de Chanel Parfum (lol) I’m gonna get me E’Goiste and possibly Platinum?? And I feel like I need to get La Lion, yep got to be done ✅ 😂.Cuir de Russie is of course a wishlist, unicorn, pricey ,and which variations to get ?? Oh the trial and tribulations of the fragrance collector hahaha. Cheers Rams always a pleasure Sir 🙏✌️👍
Thanks for watching Bren & happy hunting 🤌🤌🤌
A new Chanel Antaeus sport EDP would be fun
It would be! Thanks for watching & commenting 🍻
What do you think about the built in spray version with the golden top? chanel 19. thanks!
Never smelled it
Thanks for watching & commenting 🙂
Greaty video as always, Ramsey, even though you bashed my beloved BdC Parfum lol!
I really enjoy Antaeus and it always struck me how nobody ever talks about. Like nowhere at all and it's such a fabulous scent. You've intrigued me about this Antaeus Sport. I need to track that down someday.
I have a question, I'm currently hunting Dunhill Blend 30 and have done so for the past several weeks. Since you are all about this time period of fragrances I wondered if you have ever tried this fragrance and what your thoughts are? On Fragrantica I came across one single post about it and the user was raving how it's the best fragrance they ever tried and sure enough the reviews of it echo this sentiment.
Anyway, thanks again for such an in depth and informative video! These videos are truly must-watch content for any fragrance enthusiasts.
Well first off sorry I bashed BDC Parfum but there will be more bashings of mainstream scents on this channel (see my Eros review 🤦♂️). As far as Dunhill Blend 30 goes it is one of the greatest masculines of all time... definately the greatest fragrance from Dunhill. I have a huge 250ml splash that should keep me sorted for the rest of my life ....easily signature scent material (if I had a signature scent) 😂😂😂
No.5 has gone through various reformulations. My mother has worn it for 50yrs (mostly EDP) and still has empty atomisers the same as yours in all different sizes. I prefer the edt but I tend to wear it as an evening home scent after a bath. If you like No.5 at night save your money and buy Coty L'aimant for a few quid.
No.19 I only like the EDP. A SA tried to convince me the EDT is the same because she didn't have the EDP. The funny thing was she sprayed it and pulled her face and said it smelled like white wine. I don't think she'd ever smelled it until I asked for the EDP.
I personally prefer the EDT as it has less florals to my nose... but any version of No 19 is beautiful ❤️
@@RamseytheRam yes, I'd agree the 19 edt has less floral, seems a little sharper to me.
Hi Ramsey! I love my new bottle of Bois Des Iles - but it's the regular EDP - 200mls. I can't believe it but I have my radar on a vintage EDT of BdI - but it is mega bucks as far as I'm concerned. Can I tap your experience at this level and ask what you would pay for a 200ml bottle of Bois Des Iles vintage EDT (with a bit missing - say less 5% of the juice)? I have very little experience with this stuff and just want an idea of the range for such an item - so I'm not getting ripped off. Thanks a bunch!
There is no range really when it comes to vintage unfortunately... how do you put a price on something that isnt made anymore? Price is all subjective to be honest IMHO
@@RamseytheRam I understand what you are saying. The problem I guess is I've never smelled the EDT so I can't ask myself - how much would I pay for that scent? It would be a blind buy! Oh well, I'll figure it out - and thanks!
This may seem a weird thing to say ... I rather think Chanel's perfumes are for both the perfume lover and someone who just wants to smell nice.
They are not easy to dislike!
Definitely not meh, I just haven't found one I've disliked.
Recently while in Japan I tried Paris- Edinbourg.... thinking here we go this must be it. No it was lovely, not groundbreaking but was really something on my skin....and I was disappointed!
Along with so many, it's on the One day list.
The edc's are a nice wear too.
Thats a great take... they have been blessed with genius in house perfumers... back to back to back 🤌🤌🤌
Smelt Le lion today at a department store for the first time. Wow! I was blown away! Then I smelt modern version of Bel Ami for the first time and I was amazed and blown away even more. Ive never smelt the vintage Bel Ami but I can tell you that in my opinion the modern Bel Ami is amazing and it reminded me of Diaghelev from Roja. I think I'm definitely gonna get get a bottle of the current version of Bel Ami. for $100 -$160 for a 100ML. HERMES puts Roja prices to shame man. If I hadn't smelt Bel Ami I would have said Le lion was the best smelling fragrance of the day lol
Two all time greats man 😇
Super Dacob is a pretty big perfume reviewer that's been in the game for many years, and does detailed, in depth reviews. You should check him out. He's shifted some of the perfume reviews over to another channel recently (it's called Essence-tially Dacob), maybe that's why you thought he mostly does fashion.
Ahhhh I See... nice thanks for sharing 😊
@@RamseytheRam No problem! :) Oh, and I have both vintage No 19 EDP (and modern), and a vintage No 19 extrait and both are much less floral than the EDT. They are strong, bitter green galbanum-heavy constructions. The floral element is turned way, way down.
They have a vintage cologne version of No.19 on eBay do you think that’s a better vintage purchase rather than the edt
Looking for your input there @Ramsey 😅
Depends in the condition it is kept it 🤷🏻♂️
If u trust these people and used them before maybe
I was late to Chanel, but catching up fast with vintage russie, bois des iles and egoiste being my favourites so far.
75/100ml or 200ml+ is always a difficult one for me because yes you get a better deal but once you get down to below half way, more air than juice is never good and I tend to decant it to protect it from turning.... that said I still end-up getting a bigger bottle as they just look better.
Those 200ml bottles are mint arent they 😂😂😂
@@RamseytheRam they do say bigger is better! 🤣🤣
I have an old Creed aventus 17 ounces flacon that I've had over 10 years and it has lots of air in and all the notes are just fine. Is just the more citrus fragrances that you have to worry about
So I found a rare piece! I was shopping Drakkar Noir, and found a double ended bottle, called a 2 in one. EDT & aftershave, it’s a cosmair era package..yet another vintage checked off the list, to be Frank😊
To be Frank! That should be the name of your perfume channel 😂😂😂
I always believed Fendi EDP a better Coco. Gotta sniff it 👌👍💚
It is on my to sniff list 🍻
Completely agree with vintage Antaeus being number 1.
It is one of my favorites of all time and the only fragrance that can give Bel Ami a run for its money 😆
Chanel! This is gonna be Excellent! 🙌🙏❤️
Super Davob with the scoop!
This one was tough to rank 😬
Would love to get ur thoughts after u watch this 😊
Smelly, smelly, my dear Chanel,
full of your's will be my panel !
If its real! We shall see... if its true he got the early scoop of all time 🤓
Yes! The 31 Rue is the EdP! 🙌💚
what a fantastic video; I have recently become obsessed with No. 5's EDC version; it's so unlike the no. 5 you get today in the EDP version or the EDT. I have several bottles of the stuff now and I think it's a msterpiece; it and the vintage pure parfum have a striking similarity to me. The only thing is, it's so hard to date the bottles, and once or twice i think i've been duped when purchasing online. It's such a gem to me, tho; i wish more people were talking about it but then again, maybe it's better if they don't!
I absolutely agree & its my favorite version of #5 🙂
Does anyone know if Chanel is on sale at Neiman Marcus? They're doing a $50 off $200 or more on everything. It's saying they're out of stock online, but I'm curious if they are discounted for the sale in store?
Would love to know myself... Chanels never go on sale 😂😂😂
@@RamseytheRam I'll probably swing by Neiman Marcus Friday and see. I'll let you know
That would be awesome 🙏🙏🙏
@@RamseytheRam I went to Neiman Marcus yesterday and asked if Chanel fragrances were included in the sale and they said no. I think they might of been the only brand I didn't see with a promotion. I guess Chanel fragrances really don't ever go on sale. I ended up testing all of them out though lol
They really never do go on sale ... it is extremely rare to see Chanels discounted ... some people like that because they think when frags go to discounters it lessons the brand 🤷♂️
Agree, the EDT is the best!
Of N⁰19? Absolutely ... although I have never smelled the Extrait 😬
Hi Ramsey! I know we live in an era where anything goes and we're told we shouldn't pay attention to gendered marketing but I'm a woman with taste a bit like yours as a man - too masculine just doesn't cut it for me. This being said - I am also a giant, humongous, head over heels sandlewood fan - so our elegant friend, M. Persolaise, here on RUclips suggested I try Chanel's Egoiste - but do you find Egoiste - especially the vintage version - (Mysore Sandlewood is heaven in my opinion!) - leans way masculine? I mean could a woman who doesn't like leaning too far masculine wear it? Btw, I've tried a sample of Bois des Iles and I'm madly in love with that one! The Chanel path is a dangerous tread though. $$$!!! The things we do for the love of fragrance, right? Yikes. 😅
I was going to say to try Bois de Iles (if you can find the vintage EDT it would be even better) but I think Egoiste can easily be worn by a woman... let me know how it goes 😍
@@RamseytheRam - Will do and thanks Ramsey!
From which year is that Bois des Illes ?
Its the EDT from 2007
@@RamseytheRam
Thank you mate.
I will buy the one from 2004. if it has so good Sandalwood note.
Chanel Allure Homme Sport SuperLeggera coming soon 🔥🔥🔥
😂😂😂
Chanel N22 NOT on a 22ml bottle? Outrageous!
Off the bat, I find Chanel fragrances difficult to wear in current times so I can't say I'm a huge fan of the house anymore as fragrances go - they don't even have a men's collection of clothes... discriminatory to say the least :)
My n1 is by a significant distance Le Lion and I honestly couldn't even do a top10 love. Also enjoy immensely wearing Paris-Edinbourgh. The wife loves N5 Eau Premiére and Coco EDT and I love smelling them on her too ^^
Thanks for adding to the conversation! I do think them not doing mens clothes is strange too but I am all about the perfume so 🤷♂️
31 Rue Cambon is squarly on my to buy list 🍻
Bleu de Chanel last and Antaeus first. Hmmmm. You know I'm not surprised. And you know I have it almost reversed. I like Bleu de Chanel for what it is, released in the era in which it was. Antaeus would be last in my list and first would have to be Pour Monsieur. Vive la Différence!
😂😂😂
We are like the immovable object meets the unstoppable force... who wins lol
I like the original Coco edp the best. So good. So is Rue Cambon and Bois des Isle. I just discovered no. 18
I dont think I have ever smelled no 18 ... but 31 rue cambon is full bottle worthy for sure 🤌🤌🤌
Chanel Exclusif is the high end
Yes thats it! It hit me later in the video lol
Thanks for watching MDO 😊
If they discontinued the current version of Antaeus they would be doing themselves a favour as it is complete trash ( compared to previous versions). I’m thinking about getting the current Cuir de Russie 15 ml parfum. Got the Coromandel one last week and it is lovely.
Never sniffed any of the Chanel Extrait versions but I hear they are lovely... thanks for watching & commenting 😊
How's the performance on the Coromandel edp? Sillage and longevity
Its fine 6 to 8 hours with no problems from memory
@@RamseytheRam I'm thinking of purchasing the 200 ml, even though I have a vintage Richwood because I don't want to blast thru that bottle so maybe this can fill the void when I'm digging that style.
I’m rewatching this and I’m still surprised seeing Platinum Egoiste being left out. I assume you don’t own it, can’t believe you would have ranked it behind BdC. It’s definitely one of the most hated fragrances in the community, probably still carrying the stigma of that naming
I dont own Platinum Egoïste... for me I would rather just wear GIT 🤷♂️
@@RamseytheRam Yeah I understand. I haven’t worn any of them in a long time. It’s time for me to do a side by side comparison then ✅
I just see it as Chanel's version of that late 80s / early 90s style and trying to salvage the mess (financially) Egoïste turned out to be... i think its an okay fragrance... its just not for me... although I only smelled the newest version in passing at a mall in Dallas years ago... maybe the vintage would blow my socks off 🤷♂️🧦
@@RamseytheRam Yep agree, it’s Chanel’s safest bet before the 00s
Coromandel is my fave!!!
I would love to find the EDT one day!
Thanks for watching 🍻
Yeah I received some of those single wear samples - hate the format!
Its the worst isnt it ? Look at the N⁰22 19ml complimentary sample they used to give out back in the day.... ahhh the good old days lol
Unfortunately I only have 2 Chanels and they were brought weeks ago.
Which two did you get Shiva?
This will be a great reference video then as its a house you should definately dive into 🙃
@@RamseytheRam oh shit I thought I wrote it. I brought Anteus & Allure Blanche.
Nice congrats ... vintage Antaeus ?👀
@@RamseytheRam Oh no! Respectful, I’m not of the Vintage Acolytes and this love for older fragrances …. I will buy vintages if I happen across some. Seeking them is time consuming to the new guy. I just want a Vintage Gold Man and Interlude. Finito
@@shivavereen7824 😂😂😂
I totally understand ur point of view... there are still so many vintage frags I cant find even searching high and low... but sometimes one falls in your lap and it is just meant to be 😊
MY FAVE HAZ ALWAYZ BEEN PLATINUM EGOISTE...ITZ A NOSTALGIA THING...IF THAY DISCONTINUE IT I'D TIE SUM FISHING LINE 2 A 12 GAUGE SHOTGUN & THA OTHER END 2 A DOOR KNOB SO WHEN THA DOOR OPENZ BOOM IT WOULD BLOW MY HEAD OFF...
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ CONTENT MY G
Not a fan of platinum Egoïstè but I totally get the Nostalgia 😄
Cuir russie probably smells Rasputin while working for the royals.🤔👌
Yes! Thats a good one 😂😂😂
Mate, today, at the departament store, I've tested Chanel Antaeus and Pour Mosieur, for the first time in my life. let me tell ya, for US$130 the 100ml bottle doesn't convinced me at all, I was specting some sort of bomb!, room filler, anything, but it wasn´t that at all. feeling dissapointed.
That makes me sad... the vintage of Antaeus is a room filler for sure
@@RamseytheRam Around Jun 20th, I'll buy an YSL Kouros, I've found in a little perfume store in downtown, the girl told me the bottle is the one with metal shoulders, but?, how can I be sure?, what should I chsck in the box??? can you help me wit that? the box it's sealed with that plastic transparent paper
*check
Well the older bottles of kouros with the metal shoulders fall into the realm of many different distributors, charles of the ritz, parfums corp, Gucci PPR etc... it is just a good guidepost... if you buy it and it isnt what she said just return it
@@RamseytheRam I'll open it right there!!! Thank you so, so much
I think a lot of these French designer labels have survived so long because they were revived by new blood in the 90s. People like Galliano McQueen Tom Ford and Lagerfeld. They’ve all gone and there’s no one to replace them. No one cares about their catwalk shows anymore .
31 is the address of Chanel’s building in Paris I believe
Yup I think thats a great shout .... still on the perfume side of things chanel is one of the best... maybe their fashion side could use some work lol... thanks for watching & commenting Colin😊
I loved this video! Some of the Esclusifs that you haven’t smelled are good too like Belle de Spiro, Boy, Misia and Beige.
I have them on the to sniff list 🐽
Thanks for watching Phyllis 😁
Man i always loved Bois des Iles...but i cannot imagine wearing it, i always picture someone like Ingrid Bergman in 1940s wearing it, it has a classy womens vibe to me
Really?! I will tell you what I have worn that to some high intensity business meetings and it just works... its so posh you feel like you are wearing something better than everyone else but its so elegent you wont offend a single soul.
I wore Jean Patou Pour Homme Prive in a similar situation yesterday and it acted the same .. Lavender & Sandalwood..
Sandalwood is just a brilliant calming relaxing note 🍻
@@RamseytheRam i guess its my perception if anything, for me its a nice feminine powdery sandalwood, but thats just me
Chanel in fact CAN make bad fragrances. Coco Mademoiselle is really boring. Had the intense version and it gave me nothing. Got rid of it! Have also owned Boy, Beige and 1957 and got bored with them. Coromandel I had and sold because I preferred Le Lion which I also have. Love Le Lion! Agree on Bois des Iles but don’t want to buy the edp. Had a decant of the edt and finished it really fast.
I have never smelled those 4 fragrances you mentioned... but your point is well taken ... even the best brands can have fragrances that seem boring to us that are targeted towards the masses, see my most recent review of Uncut Gem 💎 for a perfect example of that 🙂
🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂❤️
Thanks for watching my friend 😊
Fearless commentary.
Btw. Swore I heard a cat.
Maybe there was a cat back then ... no more 💪🐏

Thank you Saturday 🍻
I disagree that " *everything is marketed as unisex* " these days. The opposite really. Most successful women's fragrances are now gourmands, chock full of sugar and marketed in the bottle equivalent of "sexy baby voice." Men's fragrances are dismally butch, blue, uninspired...
In the 70's Estée Lauder had about 15 different chypres for women. All sitting on a base of oakmoss and vetiver. Compare and contrast with Prada Candy, Ariana Grande Cloud, etc...
Often I'll point for something to try at a perfume counter at Neiman or Saks and the salesperson will shriek "Oh NO, you won't like that. That's for WOMEN!!"
Fair point... thats a good shout..i would say at least most niche brands are going the unisex route it seems🤷♂️
Bdc is so overrated. That smokey funk note is too much and gross 3-4 hours into wear. Edp especially. Id love a fraische version w more mint and less smoke
I am not a fan of bluuuuughhh de chanel
