Nice dude! Just subbed. I just purchased the nuvo 10 pro model. Seems to have a nice little upgraded pump and wave maker in it. Gonna either go with my hipargero led reef light or get the full spectrum lominie led reef. My question is, would you suggest the innovative aquashield uv while it goes thru its first cycle or would that mess the cycle up? Also, im gonna be using the custom caddy filter thats included. Mechanical Fiberball, Premium 0.8 ROX Carbon Pack, and High Capacity Coarse GFO Pack is what is included. Would that be ok for reef? I have some chem pure little bags here. That pretty much serve the same purpose as whats already included? Sorry so many questions. Only ever had saltwater set ups in the past, but never reef. Was curious about the media back there. Thanks man!
Hey! Welcome to the channel! I don't believe much in UV light filters. The media caddie that comes with the pro tank will be perfect. I would use the media it comes with til it's exhausted. Chemipure bags are what I use. I just toss two in the caddie and replace every couple of months. A reef tank isnt much different than a saltwater tank. The differences are just the maintenance of major elements (calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium) and a little higher salinity.

They seem pretty expensive to replace. Would you just get a filter floss instead? Any suggestions on what i can fit there in the socks place? Thanks again!
Well if you are using the caddie you just use filter floss. Easier to change and clean. And after a month of using the gfo just swap out with the chemipure bags

Hi, I hope you are doing well, I have a few questions about that tank, my son is 8 years old and he love fish and animals and we are both interested on a reef tank like that one, Do you have an estimate how much water is going to the baffle, what is the GPH for the return pum, and what is the GPH on your powerhead ? You're very welcome! The return pump I have in here is a bit overpowered. And pushing about 250gph. Therefore I don't have a power head on this tank. I think it is so cool that you are setting up a tank with your son! My dad's tank is what got me in this hobby😀
If you're not worried about cost, you could go with a Kessil A160WE Tuna Blue with the Spectral Controller. The shimmer would look amazing on that tank. Otherwise you could go with the AI Prime HD. Good light, good price, and the controller is built in.
Jarrod Davis I'm not too worried about price. More about features spectrum and par. I had a kessil once and one drawback was the distribution of light. Because it's one source of light I found there were a lot of shadows and places I couldn't grow/place corals. I'll definitely consider them though! Thanks for your input and for following allong.
Whatup! Looking forward to see this build out. I've been wanting to get an L-shape desk + drop a nano reef on it for a long time now. This video is NOT helping me control myself! ((Oh, and the edge for sure. It gives you more flexibility where to place your computer/monitors.))

I think by the edge is good so you can get to the back of the tank when you need to do maintenance and water changes.
