Wow!!! This lesson is a complete breakthrough for me. At 61 y/o I have significant arthritis in my left thumb, which makes it very painful to play bar chords. You old timers know what I'm talking about. Since I play rhythm and lead your lesson has opened up new avenues for creativity without limitations. Thank you so much!!!
Thanks for sharing soloing chord targeting R 3 5 where 3 is the start and R is the home base. The 3 differentiates the mood of the tone whether it a sad or happy in a song. The rest 2 ,4, 5, 6, 7, 8. 9.11, 13, etc. adds more colors to the playing. Great explanation for those beginners in their guitar soloing journey.
I really put this to use yesterday. The tune I am learning is in F and when I was fiddling with Dm pentatonic, I realized the triads of the chord progression were in the pattern area. I mixed them in together and it sounded quite nice. People, learn your triads!
Plenty of Light Bulb 💡 moments here Ricky Thanks 👍🎸🤟🇵🇱
Ok great lesson but you lost me when you went outside of the 5 r 3? How do I solo around those? Like why do I need a North Star if I’m not going anywhere? Is that a separate lesson. You went Bing Bing Bing Bing Bing Bing and hit all these other notes but didn’t tell me why you were hitting those. Lost me at the end. Please respond.
As always great lesson. Did you notice that the 3-5-1 is perfectly inscribed in the major pentatonic “box” and that the m5-1-3 is perfectly inscribed in the minor pentatonic “box”. “Box” being the three string two fret pattern within the larger pentatonic caged shape.
ricky knew i had to go a different route......
Plenty of light, Bub.
It amazes me how you can keep on showing me again again secrets hidden on plain site. Thanks
Right under our noses!!
"golden" nuggets of melody - brilliant - cheers and ty
Off the hook information!
Great insights very well presented. Thank you sir.
A brilliant way of getting these concepts across. You helped 'declutter' the chord to extract the essence. Profoundly grateful to you.
I play with a group and I see the lead doing this and couldn't figure out how he was Sounding so nice without the Bar chords
Thanks for teaching us, mate 🙏
Thank you. This was great. 😊
