Great video @themakersworkbench - you highlighted the 971e features really well. Thank you for taking the time to review this soldering station. Our family has put a lot of hard work into maintaining the quality and support of our products and look forward to more reviews. Thanks again! All the best.
Thank you for the kind words, and thank your for supporting us!
I was looking for a Made in U.S.A. soldering iron today and am so delighted to discover your review.
Definitely give Edsyn a look! I can vouch that they are a solid company with very high quality products. I've spent time talking to some of the family members who still own the business to this day and can honestly bday that they are good people!
@@Themakersworkbench I bought it and it just arrived. I'm going to christen it by recapping my Battlezone and Space Duel machines! Thanks again for the tip.
@@Themakersworkbench It is worth noting that the Edsyn is not technically Made in the U.S.A., but designed and assembled in the U.S.A. They certify every unit to their exact specifications.
You're a little off base here. Good luck finding any electronic device with electronic components made here in the USA. The hard truth is that we simply don't make some things here anymore and certain parts have to be sourced globally. The simple truth is that Edsyn manufactures their soldering equipment here in the USA. Some of the components may be sourced, but good luck finding an electronic device that does not have globally sourced components in it.
@@avary just an FYI - we do manufacture here in our Van Nuys California factory but some components and small parts are sourced outside the US. Because of this and the way the laws are written we therefore do not say “made in the USA” but you can come to our factory and see for yourself - every aspect from design, molding, machining, assembly and repair - to the best of our ability - we make our tools and stations in California.
Great review
Great video! I really want to upgrade my soldering station now!
Just wait until you see what else they sent us! You are going to definitely want to add them to your soldering arsenal!
Very nice job on the review. Repairable is a rare thing these days.
Thank you! It really is, and being able to pick up a phone and talk to a human to order that part is even rarer.
Well
Mine ain't doing to great cuz my tip won't melt solder wtf?
I keep it clean and minimally used it and it's on full heat
Anybody please advise if you can
2:21 minor nitpick here, but why the hell do they make it to so you need to poke holes in the sticker to access the pots , ,makes no sense and looks terrible, cringe
I understand your point, but I also see this as not much of an issue. The label is in the back of the device, and you use the calibration pots very infrequently, and I guess it's just not that big of a deal to me, and honestly, they would clean up with a hobby knife pretty quickly.
Also, we included this feature to help identify if the calibration pots have been used. Similar to breaking a seal on a package. This is necessary for production environments for compliance. Production managers have remarked in the past that this option helps give a visible sign if a technician has tampered with the calibration pots without approval. They can easily reseal them with their own stickers to ensure compliance as well.
That makes much more sense. It serves as a tamper detection device, and you can reseal with a calibration date sticker
California isn’t America 😂
