I wish they hadn't glossed over this theme of being forgotten, My husband is gone and my children my not have any children, and when they are gone who will remember what a wonderful man he was?, who will visit has grave and put out flowers on his birthday?... we all have a reputation...what people think of us...then we have character...how we actually are...his reputation and character was stellar! We all should strive for that.

Everyone gets forgotten eventually. And then one day the earth will not even exist and it will be like none of us billions upon billions of people ever existed in time anyway. Best not to dwell on who will or will not remember you. Right now you and your children remember your husband and that’s enough. We do not have the past or the future, we only ever have the present. So you make the best of right now. It is hard to stomach at times, but that is all there is. Make each day count if you can. Even if all you do is love ❤️

Very important to keep telling family stories about loved ones passed. My niece was born before my mom died and she feels like she knows her and bakes like her. What a gift for me. 🙏🏽💚💙
Becky was always more like dan and darlene was more like Rosanne..attitude wise..however dan always doted on darlene honestly..becky was always getting into trouble lol.
Did you watch every year before the bike shop closed and they didn’t have the money to send her to college? Becky was the reliable one, always picking up darlene’s slack. David was responsible as well. Don’t know why Darlene suddenly has her act together.. she left home shack up, not marry.
Dan doted on Roseanne so I guess that’s why he doted on Darlene (not in a creepy way) as Darlene was so much like her, same attitude and sense of humour. But also because she had what was called “tomboy” qualities back then, and Dan could relate more to her. But he was still very loving and protective of Becky.
You are right, I just watched the show recently, and it’s funny how everyone always says how ungrateful Becky was and that she needed a good slap etc, but she was a decent kid. She did all her chores plus Darlene’s too when Darlene was depressed, and she babysat (and taught her little sister some facts of life 😂) She studied and worked hard at school for good grades. She got a job - how many young people do you know that get a job so young. There’s a lot that just live with parents and do nothing nowadays, drifting along well into their twenties until they finally decide what to do with their lives. Yes she was a typical teenager and lashed out sometimes, but I think the frustration came from her working so hard at home and school, and getting little credit for it. All teenagers have their moods and tantrums and can be self centred, it wouldn’t be depicting real life if they had not shown that.
@@kristinesharp6286 sometimes that happens in real life. Many of the most irreresponsible people I knew growing up are more successful and together than the goody goody straight A kids are now.
And to think that Darlene was Dan's favorite daughter.
A blind and deaf person could tell that. I had a sister like her dad called her his favorite son as a joke.
yeah but remember the episode where he takes her to the mall and she meets up with some friends and he's like, "go, have fun with your friends and I'll tell your mom we bonded" and she said, "thanks, dad.....i love you." and kissed him on the cheek or hugged him (something adorable like that) and he said, "I know. but here's an extra $10 for saying so" becky and dan had their problems mainly bc of mark - come to think of it, boyfriend problems were the root of the issue between both of his daughters. but he had a sweet relationship with both of his daughters, they were just really different personality-wise. darlene was into sports and not girly, becky was more responsible (probably bc she was the oldest) and was more into girly stuff - he loved them both equally imo. just because I'm not into sports and history like my bro, my dad and I still can find common interests in things like movies and music. different kid, different relationship... that's all.
Becky was always his favorite. Darlene was his favorite to spend time with, big difference.

I’m still just watching the re-runs. They’re more entertaining and have a great edge to it with Roseanne leading.

Sadly Roseanne denied to sabotage her show. She violated her contract with Disney and plays victim later. In any job you do your job and don't embarrass your employers. Everyone is replaceable.

I can relate. As I race toward the finish line in life, I realize that I have hardly even run the race. Once it's over, I'm just going to be a face in some old photos.

ive watched roseanne when i was a kid and i cant stand watching becky as an adult mother. LOL
Had those thoughts of being forgotten when I'm gone, then I figure I'll be dead, and will probably have no way of knowing.....then I feel a lot better....
I can relate to Dan. I've been feeling my own mortality lately. I have a sister who has great grandchildren and I wonder if I'll be around to see my own. Will my grandchildren remember how much I love them? Will they remember all the time we spent together? Shoot. I'm wondering if they'll even want to spend time with me when they become teenagers. So yeah it's a big deal.
when kids hit the teen years that's normal they are not as interested in being around most adults so if it happens don't take it to personal they will do it to their parents to
John Goodman took his weight and health seriously! I almost don't recognize him as Dan in this! It also reminds me of how real Roseanne as a show was!
In the show he had a heart attack and nearly died so his story arc fit in well with his health journey and I'm here for it.
Everyone lives in Dan's house and relies on him financially, and they all forget his birthday. Nice! Dan, without you, guess what---everyone is homeless because they're financially inept and can't take care of themselves without assistance from you or the government. The family is pathetic. I hate to say it.

@SARA I'm with you. The Roseanne show depicted a young family with hope for a better future. The sequel highlights that the WHOLE FAMILY became losers with NO hope for anything better.

People is a t.v. show. I'm a real widow and my wife was my soulmate. 5 years after her death, i haven't dated and dont intend to. I laugh how t.v. shows widows and widowers wait a year or 2 to date and find love. It's digusting. How, Hollywood is full of 💩!
it's not disgusting to move on with life, nor is it strange to not date for years after the loss of a spouse.....grief is different for everyone so it is better not to be so judgemental

Dan is in my opinion the only reason this show is worth watching. Actually if you want to know the truth, even when Rosanne was on back in the day, Dan was still my favorite character.

Dude, Dan. My birthday is forgotten by everyone I remind of it except for my parents. And it's hard for them to ever forget since they were both THERE when I was born, so.... Don't waste your time placing your sense of self worth on whether or not anyone remembers your birthday. It's not worth it.
I know exactly how Dan feels. Even though I've got some family and friends who love me, I feel they're just putting on a facade, like they don't really love me. And when I'm gone I feel like there's nothing memorable about me. That I'll eventually just...fade away. I don't matter. Poor Dan. I just wanna give him a great big hug. Also for the longest time, it seemed Darlene was always Dan's favorite cause she was a tomboy, played sports, etc. But knowing Dan, he truly loved all his kids. And for D.J. and Darlene to forget their own dad's bday? They should be ashamed of themselves. After all Dan did and suffered through for them.

I kinda did. Her character was that of the perfect daughter who slowly unravels over time and she took that and did so much more with it.

I sure as hell have learned to live with it but always keep in mind that there’s always going to be someone out there who will remember you or we look back even if it’s your great great great great grandkids they’re gonna look back and they’re still going to say oh wow they were nice or I like that name maybe I will name my kid after them and they can carry on the good.
If you don't want to be forgotten do what I'm gonna do that someone else did that gave me the idea. My gravestone is gonna have an ATM built in it. So when my family needs money they will have to come visit me. There will be a minimum and you can only withdraw once a week or once a month. And if you were ungrateful once every 6 months lol

What people don't realise is that the 32 million viewers were WORLD WIDE UK, IRELAND, ALL THE USA so now it's just one state ...... in the UK we showed the first episode of the Connors it got less than a thousand viewers and was pulled off half way...... people love Roseanne just that simple . What's laurel with out Hardy, 3 stooges with out stooges mamas family without mama ......

Same. The Connors comes off like the same dull tired sitcoms that are always on television. It lacks that bite and strong wit that Roseanne brings to it. The Connors only got made because she signed the deal that allowed them to still make it without her. She wanted them to still have a job. She should’ve just given them the finger. She should revamp Roseanne with a better network, keep John Goodman and Laurie Metcalf, but kill the kids off in a major car accident. They won’t be missed. The older kids lack the great acting chops they had as younger child actors anyway.

If I swelt seriously on this, it would bother me. 58, never married, last serious relationship 20 years ago, no kids. House full of nice things; what's it matter. Fortunately I don't dwell, and at some point when the rat race has ended I'll become the indispensable volunteer (well, for 15 or 20 years anyway) at some organization that serves disadvantaged youth with no family to properly care for them, and I'll be able to say, yeah, I did something.

You can clearly tell the writers have changed, and they changed the characters.
They didn't sit around gabbing all the time - there was also a lot of physical comedy in the show.

Dan is right though, most people unless they're famous will get forgotten. Once the next generation comes along that wasn't alive when you were won't have any memories of you. You'll just be the guy in a few pictures. How many people can even tell you the names of their great grandparents? Or if they know their great grandparents names they sure don't know the name of their great great grandparents.

When Roseanne created this show she wanted it to be relatable because growing up, she never saw people like her family on tv. So I guess that mission was accomplished.

You may not like this show but you all come here watching these clips. Roseanne Barr did add some spice but she got stupid and put her foot in her mouth. She didn't have anything going for her but this show, so she was expendable.
What's really funny is how, after she left, the show stopped focusing on politics and instead just focused on a family trying to live their life while living with a lower income, something the original series was all about, but was forgotten the moment the reboot started where half the episodes became left vs right bs.
