Wash day struggle is spoken of much in the natural hair community, I think I've found a way to enjoy it. Do you think this is a routine you can follow?

I do clay washes too every other week. They are much faster and take just 20 minutes. It gives me a break from the longer shampoo to deep conditioning process. I like to take care of my hair so spending time on it is not an issue but I do imagine that people may be really busy and want quicker hair routines.

Great video...I really enjoyed it...Thank you. This is really the most relaxing wash for me as well. I love that I don't need go hurry to wash it out, I can continue with whatever I'm busy with. I also love the fluffy, clean but not stripped feeling after rinsing it out.
I've been trying to use the same parts as well to minimize over manipulation. And I also wash in twists without untwisting. I have challenges with that...
Sometimes I use a bentonite clay + charcoal mix. That's when I realised that when I get to detangle, moisturize and retwist...I get some charcoal in my hands. So it seems I don't manage to get the mixture completely out from between the twists. Some small amount seems to remain even when I rinse for a long time and I'm convinced it's all out. I'm not sure if this is a problem or not. So now, I undo each twist under running water and retwist...which takes a little longer. How do get the clay completely out? Or do you also get some residual mixture remaining?
Then on the parts, I challenged myself to use the same parts for a year. I found that my hair thinned out where the parts were. So now I'm forced to create new parts every now and then. Have you experienced thinning along your parts at all?

@@SisuDiamant Hi Sis, thanks for popping by. On the parts I dont keep the same parts for the whole year, at times I will change the twist size and layout so I think that helps. On the clay on thr video please see how I was squeezing each twist under running water that helps I have found any residue. I haven't tried charcoal for wash, the properties would be very close to what bentonite clay does so I stick to the clay. Also I don't wash with bentonite at every wash. I will do other videos showing other washes I do. Sometimes I do oil rinse, sometimes just plain warm water, sometimes castile soap when I feel it's needed and sometimes just apple cider vinegar with aloe juice. I hope that helps. The level of clean you need also depends on the type of products that you use, I stick to water soluble ingredients mostly pure natural.

You may already know this but for others to get a smoother and buttery consistency when mixing clays, you first mix water with the bentonite clay briefly to ensure that the water has covered all the clay, then you cover up the mix with a cover or plastic wrap for an hour. After about an hour, the clay will have fully set in the water and will be smooth. Just mix briefly to remove any remaining lumps easily and you will have a smooth and buttery bentonite clay mixture. I find this easier to apply and more effective. I guess the clay needs sometime to hydrate.

Hi Sis, thanks so much for popping by. I do it differently and it has been working. Please check in my video when I apply it, I find no need to thoroughly mix the bentonite clay, it just needs to come into contact with water, when you smooth it to the wet hair it will continue to incorporate, when I cover it with the plastic during showering it gets completely moistened

You're the first 4c youtuber I've found and been excited about in YEARS. Thank you so much for making this. I'm a fellow 4c natural and my hair is hip length, so I currently look for 4c girls with hair longer than me in hopes of improving my current hair care methods. My hair routine has been pretty much the same since I was around armpit length, and I'm realizing that I'm going to need to change up my regimen soon because it's no longer compatible with my new hair length. It took me so much trial and error that I don't want to go through again just to settle on my current routine, so I'm extremely particular when it comes to trying anything new. Your hair washing regimen is the first wash routine I've seen that I think might be exactly what I was looking for :) It's gentle and quick and also apparently aids in detangling from what you mentioned. My main concern with changing my routine is that I need to figure out how to cut down on time as well as not increase effort on detangling, so I think I will try this out soon

Thanks so much for popping by and for your input, I'm also reluctant to change what I'm used to, 4c hairwash day used to be very long for me, only to be left with very tight clumps after wash day, this way, cleanses without stripping the oils so its easier to stretch my hair and it retains moisture better

Even though I used it here I wouldn't recommend if your have sensitive skin or fresh acne, but definitely very good with aloe. If you do try it for the face do let me know how it works out for you

I would like to know if you can do a Henna mask and a clay mask on the same wash day?
    Or just alternate weeks?
I'm thinking the later option would be better for time reasons and hair benefits (less manipulation and overload).

I really want to try keeping the same parts and decreasing how often I detangle. I've used bentonite clay alone and also in a mixture of kaolin and the clay that starts with an R.....totally forgot spelling but I've never done it on twisted hair. Thank you for this video. I learned a lot. I definitely think I could follow this and I would love to see how you retwist and moisturize after wash.

I also use a bentonite, kaolin, rhassoul mix.
I prefer clays to shampoos, as the latter make my hair seize up and clump together, loc, and tangle badly upon rinsing. I apply clay in sections, twist it, and rinse each half of each open twist, condition, and retwist before the final rinse. Any departure from this routine results in 😭
I would caution not to rub clay mixtures on the scalp with vigor. Clays are abrasive and can irritate the scalp before you realize it.

    • @nothandondlovuraw7388
      @nothandondlovuraw7388  2 года назад

@@Doc_McStuffins that's great, the other clays are not readily available in our area so I've only tried bentonite clay. I actually like the action of the clay on my scalp sort of like an exfoliation but I do agree on being gentle. I do get clumping after wash day, I actually wanted to do another video to show that and what I do. I think it's because the hair continues to shrink as it dries up, so I just stretch my twists a few days after wash day and it's fine after that. Thanks for popping by 😘

I've never used bentonite clay. It seems great for those who enjoy DIY mixtures, but I do not enjoy it. Clays are just too messy for me and I prefer using shampoo. It may seem weird but I also can't get past the mental hurdle that I feel like I would be washing my hair with dirt. My routine is simple for me, I just shampoo, condition, detangle, and style.
