Thanks for watching! And help us on the debate, would you consider banana bread a cake or actually bread? 🥲
Bread have a rising agent traditionally whereas cake does not necessarily. So you made a banana cake because you didn't have yeast or baking powder it seems.
Google said it is called a bread because you use a loaf pan to bake it rather than a cake pan. I'm no authority but the internet says so therefore it must be ;)
It's a cake that you can eat for breakfast. Because... bananas 😂
We've always called it cake in my family. I think calling it "loaf" is a good middle ground. I can't bring myself to call it bread; if you can't make a ham sandwich with it, can you really call it bread?
It looked like bread from the outside. And at least you tried making it Emma! I've made plenty of food mostly from boxes and cakes from boxes too. Is there any stores nearby that has the cake/ bread mixes that you can try? That way you can just add things like eggs, water, and bananas if you try it again. Just a suggestion tho. I really liked the views of the city that you got. Hoping for less rainy weather for you both.
@@elizabethtonovic4678 hahaha putting ham in it is the true test
Love these snippets of your day. I enjoy that you are sharing the real side of traveling and some days are rainy van days, but you can still find fun in that.
Glad you like them! Very true 😊💕
I make banana bread every Sunday. This my recipe
2-3 bananas
1/2 cup milk
50g butter
2 eggs
2/3 cups brown sugar
1 1/2 self raising flour
Cinnamon
Melted butter in microwave, Mashed banana, put milk, eggs and brown sugar and mix. Then add flour and add how cinnamon you want and mix all together. I add chocolate chips some times.
Lots of love from Australia
I’ll use your recipe next time! Thank you 🥰🥰
10:50 onwards is the greatest thing I've seen on all of RUclips this whole year. I'm ROLLING crying here 😂 😂😂 There's so much sparkle in Emma's eyes as her monstrous creation goes from bread to cake to PORRIDGE and then soggy Weetabix 😂😂😂 I can't. There aren't enough laughing emojis omg I'm gonna watch this segment twice
😂😂😂 safe to say my first ever cake attempt was a flat out fail
I love how real and honest you are in your uploads. So many others would have just not put the banana bread in the video because was a fail. People need to see that everything isn't always perfect in life, so thanks for that.
We’ll always be honest on here! 💖
I love how this channel has gone from ‘Fun Couple Traveling!’ to ‘Cooking With Emma! Will This Food be Alright? Guess We’ll See!’
I just made whisky banana bread. 100% cake. Can confirm.
the rain called for it 😂😂 and whiskey sounds like an interesting combination!
YAAAY!!!! I'm glad you had a great time despite the weather! WOOO!!!
Banana bread is definitely more cake than bread. In our family we treat it like a dessert after dinner or with a cup of coffee in the morning.
Definitely! 😂
Some really nice cinematic ambient shots in this video. I love the natural sounds too it really adds effect listening to the birds in the background. ❤
Thanks! I’d normally use music but it seemed quite nice to just hear the birds aha ❤️
Love the baking segment. 😂 I think if you had had a rising agent or some kind it might have gone a little better. And less banana! I love to bake and make awesome chocolate chip pecan banana bread. While it looks and eats like a bread, I would definitely say it could be classified as a cake.
As for the poppy seed pastry, I think it makes sense… when you go in for a big bite of what you think is chocolate and come out with a strong savoury taste, it would be surprising and might really turn you off even if it might be something you would normally like.
Sorry about the nasty weather! We’re getting a lot of it here too.
Looking forward to the home tour!
Definitely think I had too many bananas 😅 need to source the correct ingredients next time, chocolate chips sound perfect! I think you’re right on the poppy seed thing, if I thought it was chocolate I was bound to be disappointed 😂 thanks! 💖
Did you notice the bus had ‘Dom’ etched on the window? Even though you had to cope with the rain it’s still fun to travel with you. I love your stories and the views of the places you visit 👍🏻
Didn’t notice it in the bus! We’ve noticed it soooo many places here though, it means house here apparently! Thank you 🥰
@@AlwaysAway ahh like DOMocile 👍🏻
I live in a tiny house with my partner so I definitely understand the struggle of trying to bake in a small space. I died when you cut that first slice. As an American who lives in the South we definitely call it "banana bread" though I agree with you that it is more of a cake. It is even better when you mix walnuts into the batter and serve it with a big pat of salted butter on top. So good!
It gets quite chaotic right 😂 oooh that sounds yummy. I need to remake it properly 😅
Loving the content!
Thank you!! 💕
a very interesting city, looking forward to the van tour, and as a person who makes banana bread on a regular basis you did pretty good for not having everything you needed to make it and yes technically it is more like cake since you didn't have a rising agent and it wasn't in a loaf pan
The city itself looks pretty, I'd have been happy just wandering around there all day. So the banana bread/cake didn't turn out like you had hoped, but it was still edible, so that counts for something.
It’s a great place to go wandering! It was edible but tasted gross 😅
Im so sad about the rain,it really takes the fun out of traveling🙃Hope the food helped☺️Everybody has a banana bread experiance in the kitchen once in a while🤣♥️
It’s at it with the rain again today 😭 haha at least it’s not just me! 💖
💙💙
♥️♥️
That’s so funny, I just made banana bread with some leftover bits and it turned out good! I have definitely had some baking disasters though as I don’t follow recipes properly lol. Slovenia is so pretty, excited to see more!
I had hopes of that happening to me 😂 I definitely didn’t follow it correctly. Thank you! 🥰
Welll... at least Dom was honest 😂 And those are indeed very wise words. "If you don't have the ingredients, don't make the cake. 👩🍳 " Weren't you talking about merchandise at some point? That would make a nice sign for in the kitchen. 😅
Haha perfect, we’ve got a mama dom merch design ready so we’ll have to add that to the collection 😂
Unfortunately your “banana bread” lacked 1 vital ingredient - the input of Mama Dom! 😂Oh yeah and a raising agent! Very enjoyable vid - hope the weather improves soon! ❤👍
Too right! Especially when she’s the harshest critic! 😂 thanks 💖
You made banana porridge! Serve it for breakfast .lol
Could you have made a banana smoothie. I guess the right equipment like a blender would be very important.
Lovely view of the town. Seems very peaceful.
Ah we should get a blender! It was very peaceful up there 😊
You’re supposed to let the breadcake cool before you cut into it! It needs to cool down to “set”, and it’ll also continue to bake even after you take it out of the oven so if you dig into it right away, you’re probably underbaking it. Poor cakebread never had a chance 😢
btw it’s blowing my mind that you have an oven in there!!
Oh no 😂 I’ll remember that for next time! 😅 and it’s so great having an oven!
Dom should be a food critic 🤣
The Simon Cowell of cake 😂
Ahahaahaaaaaa those bananas though 😂😂😂 looked like you forgot about their existence. Having said that, I am sure the banana bread came out really good and sweet ❤❤
I did indeed forget about them completely 😂 it tasted horrendous, to many missing ingredients and too much banana 😅
@@AlwaysAway let's make one together if you want 😊 with the right ratio's
@@gaara2503yes! And with chocolate chips this time 😅
I actually like my banana 🍌🍞 cake thing a little moist 😅
Normally I use banana and oats, add some peanut butter, coconut shavings and seeds. Flower is something I sometimes add but the oats do the same things.
It was definitely moist but the flavour was horrible 😂 peanut butter sounds like a nice addition!
There's a two ingredient pancake that you can make with bananas......I think it's mashed bananas and Greek yogurt maybe?
Maybe this is what I was thinking of when I read about a two ingredient thing 😅
You can make that with banana and egg. Optionally some cinnamon
I call it banana bread but I definitely think it's more like cake 😅 Cakes are hard, I've been baking for years but still mess up lol 😬next time make banana pancakes you just need mashed bananas, flour and milk so they're much simpler to make and they go great with a bit of Nutella or syrup 😋
I was thinking banana pancakes, too! That would be delicious
Either that, or freeze them to use in smoothies (peel first!)
Oh why didn’t I do that 😂 sounds so nice, gonna have to invest in some Nutella 😅
@@lindakim3051 Haha yes I do that to, I always have a freezer full of bananas to make smoothies or nice cream
@@AlwaysAway Yes!! Make the most of the cheap Nutella prices on that side of the world lol 🤣
To me banana bread is cake. There is no gluten, and it contains far more butter, eggs, and sugar than any bread I’ve ever made. So, I call it banana cake not bread. Also, it is leavened with baking powder and not yeast. Loved the tree lined walkway, so sad to see so much graffiti though. Cozy video, have an epic day and be safe!!!
Haha got to be cake! And thankyou!!!
Banana poridge xD
😅😅
