The full-speed carving 360 @ 1:58-2:00 was so smooth. I have never seen it done so well. The lines this guy draws just flow so perfectly with what the waves present.
This is magic!!! The classic board surfer sits and waits for his "right" wave... And you get out there and attack the liquid skate park just like a skateboarder would, spectacular!!! You probably ride until your legs are burnt up!!!
That's so impressive! Some of the sharpest turns I've seen on a foilboard, that move @4:02 was very skillful, practically a backside floater on a shortboard. Amazing how much surfing you are getting in on average waves at best for a longboarder, they are all sitting and waiting whilst you are ripping it up constantly. Great stuff mate.

Serious question. What am I missing here? Is this exceptionally hard to learn to do or something? Why would you paddle out to sit around like shark bait for hours when you could do this? Is there a limited envelope of conditions when you can do this? Thankyou for sharing, love your work.
It’s definitely a steep learning curve, but you do progress fast if you can stick with it for about a month. And then yeh, exactly what you said… the ride time to water time is exponentially bigger with foiling compared to surfing. You can actually foil in more conditions because you don’t need a breaking wave like you do with surfing. And it’s the funnest thing I’ve ever done!

@@misterbennetts hey if you value ride time and flowing speed I can def recommend hang gliding too. My flights typically last over 2 hours. But this is super cool too! I remember looking up for this kind of foiling around 2010 and it did not exist yet, there was one single video on YT of someone that had a foil under a longboard and it would go up after catching a wave. Nothing like this. Foiling with kites was starting to become a thing. Anyway I still want a foil, formula kite also looks awesome to me (the one with that looks like a paraglider). Still have one question, how do you start in the middle of the water? Can you paddle into a wave? Or you need to start off a deck or towed?

It depends on your weight and height and then also what kind of volume you’re used to riding in a shortboard. I’m 80kg and 6’0” and I ride a 25L 4’3” JS. 🤙🏼
@@misterbennetts I'm almost 6' and around 70kg. I am not really surfing unless with a wing or kite so no idea regarding the volume! I love pumping but on my 3'6" dockfoil setup I won't catch any wave 🤪.. thinking about an Axis Pump 4'6 (37L) or 4'10 (44L).. 🧐😊🙋♂️

Well one day I paddled out, took off on one wave and was on foil for 1 hour and 7 mins. I probably caught nearly 100 waves. The ride time to sitting around waiting time ratio is 10 fold compared to surfing. Most days your up riding for 2-3 mins at a time so in a 1 hour session you spend more than half of your session actually riding Insted of sitting around waiting for a wave 😃

Hi mate, I'm on a F-One foil here. It's a new model coming out next year. But yeah 150 Vyper is good. I always recommend people to get the Cabrinha H1000 as a starting wing. Its unreal and you can build out your quiver with that brand. I'd be going for Cabrinha!

Sadly... For those Amazed. He's pulling this off because of riding a HYDROFOIL. Ppl don't notice that ??? Really ? It's ok, Crusify me. I can handle it. Are all ppl watching this, Non surfers ? Or Gamers ONLY ? HYDROFOILS have their place. & this litterly the best & most functional use of one... Ever. & the timing of that particular swell makes it possible. Period. Just saying.
I think the amazement is because I’m doing this on a hydrofoil… which would never be possible on a surfboard. It clearly says Hydrofoil in the title of the video 🤷🏽♂️ The timing of this swell is a normal swell, 4-5 feet @ 10 seconds. Pretty standard for most places in the world. It’s nothing out of the ordinary and you could have been on a surfboard this day easily, but with about 1/10 of the ride time 😃

Thanks! Offset helps you roll in and out of turns a lot more. It also squares up your shoulders so it makes it easier to pump 🤙🏼
