AMP BOARD DOWN WIND!
I seriously love this board so much! If you down wind or are thinking of getting into it, this is a must have in your quiver… I don’t even use my down wind board anymore because the thing feels o big and cumbersome. Thank you Chris and @flite.lab for inventing such an epic product! 🙏🏼

Excellent rider and board
I'm not a surfer, but it was pretty funny seeing you zoom past the people paddling out while you're riding in, only to see you double back and immediately catch another wave 😂 I have no clue why you'd surf after seeing one of these hydrofoils zoom in and zoom out before you've even paddled 5 meters. Cool video, thanks for sharing!
Haha yeh that’s why I don’t surf anymore. It’s too much fun and you get so much ride time compared to surfing. Thanks for watching!

Well it’s 3 x the weight of my prone foil and a lot thicker and wider, but in saying that, for what it is, it’s by far the best e-foiling option in the world, but a country mile!

Yeh so fun to carve in small waves. And so fun zipping around in clear water. Kinda like mid length vs short board for sure 👍🏼
Ocean crossings on foil… sensible? No. Possible? Maybe.
Yeh they’ve done the English Channel before. Definitely possible with the right conditions and a support boat 🤙🏼

First, top music choice 😎 Second, it's mighty similar to surf skating a bowl. Are the waves kinda like bowl transitions? Do you get pushed up by the wave or do you need to pump up and down like on a surf skate (which is what gives you speed of course)? I ask because the foil stays flat regardless of waves so i figure you must have to drive it up the face of the wave and down as well... But by doing that i can see where you'd get all that speed from pumping the transition, plus the wave travelling forwards. Like skating a moving dynamic bowl! Awesome!
Thanks! It’s actually nothing like surf skating. It’s more like snowboarding. But you use the wave energy for speed by staying high on the wave and then drop in to wipe speed off etc. the pumping is because you’re going against the swell and energy so you need to keep the foil moving at a certain speed or it will stall out. You paddle into waves like you would like a surfboard and just pop up 🤙🏼

How do they get up on the foil?
You just paddle into the wave like you would on a surfboard and the speed you’d need to catch a wave will lift the board off the surface and you just pop up to your feet like you would if you were surfing 🤙🏼

But tow-in isn’t lazy or cheating? I think even if he had used a little electric mast motor it would be just fine.
No tow-in’s here. Where’s the challenge in riding out here with a motor on the on the mast. That would be lazy and cheating and very boring!

Yeh that’s not cool. I don’t support that at all. There’s people in surfing who do the exact same thing. Same in every action sport. There’s always greedy people 🙏🏼

Laird also liked to foil through crowded lineups at his “homebreak” not sure he does anymore but I found it unnecessarily reckless especially for someone who so many look up to. Plenty of room and wave out there on outer reefs that are inaccessible and un touched by paddle in surfers.

Thanks! Apparently you can pre-order it next month. It’s gonna coming in about the same as a FD + the cost of the a prone board. But then you have a board that does 3 disciplines 🤙🏼
