    Awesome job! I was escorting Roy Young and we were just north of you most of the channel. I kept looking over at you trying to figure out what looked wrong, then realized you didn't have a paddle! Soo Good!

      Yeh legs were cooked, but actually they were worse after the 43km Maui to Molokai 2 days earlier. They weren’t too bad after this one!

    I’m getting on in my years, I’m almost 52 years old. Imo this activity called foiling is amazing just by the sight of it never having tried it. It’s amazing this is possible.

    • @misterbennetts
      @misterbennetts  3 месяца назад +2

      I think about that almost every day. It’s unbelievable what we are able to do on the foils these days!

      It's not too late! I started wake foiling at 62, wing and prone foiling at 63 and will be turning 67 in a few months. Don't miss out on this incredible sport! I haven't cracked the DW mastery but have not given up yet. Foiling is amazing

      That’s amazing! Yeh there’s a couple of guys I tow with at home that are 70 years old and they are out every day. They swear it’s making them feel younger!

      I started at 63 with a wing. not so sure about downwind channel crossing, but riding waves like Mr. B in AUS sure looks cool. I'm starting to ride some breaking waves after only 3 months winging.

    Now for the big question. Any idea when the AMP JET AND AMP MAST will be available? I've been holding off buying a foil drive in anticipation of your product release. Please give me some kind of an update. Aloha, Don

    Incredible that you did not have ideal training conditions back home prior to the event. Looking back now would you do anything differently to prepare? Too bad about the Boat Wash which seems to be a complaint from many of the Competitors (perhaps everyone can wear tracking devices so the Chase boats can keep their distance). Do you think the Organizers will create a new Category for Handpaddle SUPF in the future?

    • @misterbennetts
      @misterbennetts  3 месяца назад +2

      Well, I did have really good prone waves every day leading up to the event for months so I was foiling a lot and trying to make a point of pumping around a lot to get the legs conditioned. So that probably helped a lot. Nothing more I could have done really besides just going foiling everyday.
      Yeh I think it would have been fine if the boats waited the 15 mins they were supposed to wait for.
      One of the boys suggested that the top 30/40 guys shouldn’t need a boat as long as they had trackers, phone, epirb etc. we did all have trackers on us so they could have found us anyway.
      I hope I can inspire some people to do it with hand paddles and maybe one day they’ll create a seperate division.
      I’m just stoked I could finally do the crossing and I made it! It was so rewarding making it across the finish line! 😀
