XXXX

Yes he was crying too. This song represents the fulfilment of one of his dreams. To sing Kazakh songs to the world and make the World aware of Kazakhstan. So having people of 30 countries more or less singing in chorus a tiny bit of this song at his first concert, for sure made him very emotional.

Hi Bud, Excellent rewaction to this very moving song. As people below have told you Dimash always gets very emotional when he performs this, based on a Kazakh folk song, true story about a man who was taken prisoner and tricked into thinking his wife had left him and the lyrics are from a letter he wrote to her. Dimash sings this at everyone of his concerts and gets emotional at being able to bring a bit of his countries culture to multi national audiences especially when his 'dears' sing along with him, I would say it was a mix of sweat and tears at the end as we've seen him cry performing this previously. 👌👌👌👍👍😊😊

I have read different opinions as to whether or not Dimash was crying at the end of the song. Indeed, it was a very emotional experience, and no one would fault him if he were. I remember another emotional time during a concert in the rain where he said he felt like crying, but he couldn't, because he was a man, and men don't cry! I think that crying to a Kazakh man would be a sign of weakness. If this is so, he wouldn't have cried. Just food for thought. Even if he weren't, I WAS!

Yes, you rightly noticed, Dimash cried at the end. The song Daididau is a folk song, popular in Kazakhstan. This song is very important to Dimash, he often it sang. He said ,he was always dreamed to sing it in front of an international audience and introduce it to the world. Bastau is Dimash's first big solo concert in Kazakhstan after returning from Singer in China. About 40,000 viewers, over 10,000 of whom came from all over the world especially for him. That's why he was so touched in the end, his dream came true.

Dimash did 21 songs that day. Normally artists do 10 to 15. He had lost a lot of weight during the preparation of his first solo concert..Sponsors had been so generous to give him this opportunity, because he had represented Kazachstan so well in the Chinese competition. This text is an autobiographical poem. The poet had been sent to prison during Stalin regime. He had been falsely told his wife had left him for another man. This is his letter to her. Dimash has performed it many times in competitions and concert. It is his signature Kazakh song. The whole concert is on his channel. There were many memorable performances that day, a.o. Daybreak and Diva Dance.

That song symbolizes Dimash's dream come true of sharing Kazkh culture with the world. It's a very sad song. They lyrics are a poem by a famous Kazkh poet who was imprisoned during Stalin's regime in the 30's as an insurrectionist (later executed). The jailers passed on a lie that his wife had left him. Dimash was overcome that so many people had come out to hear him. I think this was his first solo concert on this scale, so he was a bit overcome by emotion. Sweat and probably tears mixed.

Dimash was crying....the song means a lot to Kazakh’s It’s a song about a revolutionary (a poet) who was imprisoned and he was told by the prison guards that his wife had left him. He was let out for 6 months to find his wife hadn’t left him, but then he was executed....It was Dimash’s first concert in his own country (48,000) and I think the occasion got the better of him! The whole concert is on Dimash’s channel, it is really amazing. He got to sing with his mentors and his parents, so it meant a lot to him! So brilliant! His mentor who is a soprano, you can see how much she’s influenced his upper registers and he also sings like his Mom who is a soprano professional Opera singer and his Dad who is a professional pop singer/producer.

    Dombra rules!
This was summer of 2017, at his Bastau concert - his first solo concert in Astana, in front of 30ish thousand people, all his teachers (!), friends and family.
This is a folk-like song, one of his favorites, the one he dreamed of singing to the world, and the world singing it back to him. This was the first moment it happened in real life, and he was hit so hard by it. He sings this song in all his concerts, and even in NY and London - the crowd always sings it with him and to him. Amazing experience for all.

Daididau is one of about five songs that Dimash does that honor his homeland. It’s a very sad song telling the story of a leader of the country that was eventually assassinated but the story tells of the love between he and his wife and the letters they wrote and how it had such a sad ending. The instrument at the beginning is called the dombra.

  • @julieh.700
    @julieh.700 3 года назад +66

Hey, Thanks for the video! Yeah, not quite a mandolin. It's called a Dombra and it's pretty much the iconic instrument for Kazakhstan. Actually, they even have a day called Dombra Day... so yeah its meaning is important. So this particular song is very important to Dimash for several reasons. Dimash didn't write Daididau. But it has become a song he's won contests with and also it holds a deeper significance. Daididau was written about 100 years ago, and is very well known in his country. It is a historically and culturally important song in Kazakhstan. And it's an important song for Dimash personally. Here's basically what I know about the song....
After doing some research, this is what seems to be the story behind Daididau. I'm always open to corrections but this is what I found when exploring the history of this great song. So this is what I found out.... Daididau is special to the Kazakh people because not only has it reached folk status but it involves the history of their country. Kazakhstan has only been an independent country for about 29 years. Before that, they were under the Soviet Union. So there were times of great struggle and war, famine, persecution, and pain there.
This song specifically was written by a Kazakh poet and teacher, Magzhan Zhumabayev, who was imprisoned in 1918 for being a supporter of the freedom and independence of Kazakhstan. After being imprisoned for a year, he worked for a decade as a poet and teacher and translated textbooks into Kazakh. In 1929, he was falsely arrested again as a member of an "anti-Soviet Nationalist organization" and accused of being a Japanese spy. He pled not guilty. He was imprisoned and sentenced to 10 years.
His wife, Zuleyka, traveled to Moscow to be near him. She followed him from prison to prison as they were constantly moving him without notice. Sometimes she would have to search for where they took him and when she found him he'd be bloody from the beatings that he endured.
    .
During this time he had been told a lie that his wife had left him for another man. Possible that this was part of the demoralization and beatings that he was experiencing. Devastated, he wrote a letter, or a poem if you will, to his wife asking how could she leave him and who now would hear his sorrow. This poem was turned into the song Daididau that we know today. The name Daididau was an affectionate name that he would often call his wife.
Ultimately Zuleyka petitioned some of his literary friends to help and they were able to get him released early in 1936, but a year later he was arrested again. This time he was killed in custody and the location of his burial remains unknown.
The Historical significance of this story to Kazakhstan and ultimately to Dimash is not only the story of the struggle for the freedom of Kazakh people and unfair persecution. It is also about the repression of art and the erasure of a significant Kazakh individual and artist through Soviet oppression. Magzhan's writings were banned for over 50 years and his name was virtually unknown to even the Kazakh people. Many of his works and writings have been lost forever. It wasn't until 1989 when Kazakhstan was moving toward independence that they re-discovered him and realized his tragic persecution and the profound beauty of his poetry.
So, Dimash having learned all of this history and being a young patriot knew at age 15 that he wanted to bring this song Daididau to the world. The world would hear this man's words and his art wouldn't be forgotten anymore. Daididau represents years of struggle under foreign oppression and it now represents the struggle for freedom. It became a national folk song handed down from grandfather to grandson and for years the name of the author withheld.
It seems to me that the song represents the heart, the artistry, the past persecution, and the newfound freedom of a nation. Dimash's dream was to not only sing this song to his whole nation but also to the world. And most specifically, he dreamed since he was 15 years old of singing Daididau in America in a large concert in New York.
That dream came true for him a year ago in December 2019 and it was the most beautiful thing to witness. Anybody who has seen the New York concert can test to how important this song is to Dimash. More than that, he was clearly moved by an audience made up of 60 different countries who sang the song back to him with all their hearts. All these nationalities singing in the Kazakh language..... singing this Kazakh song that is so full of history. It is a moment that will not be forgotten.

Dimash is the best singer in the WORLD and there are no doubts about that, his voice is a prodigy of nature and a genetic marvel since his parents are two glories of singing from Kazakhstan since he was 5 years old, he sings publicly and has more than twenty years of lyrical training and graduated from the university of music, he is a singer, composer, arranger and multi instrumentalist, he plays more than seven musical instruments and sings in more than Ten(10) languages, he is also a great performer and a great artist who lives and feels music He is not an imitator of voices , Dimash has his own style and is one of the forerunners of the "Popera" he also has a very pleasant, Humble and simple personality, easy access, which makes it very easy to follow, he always travels with His family and friends is a very educated person and an example to follow, he has become known for his musical talent not for getting into trouble or scandals, It has a very wide vocal range of approximately 7 octaves ,he is a singer with a wide vocal range very versatile is Baritone, TENOR , Soprano, against TENOR, mezasoprano, everything at the same time is how to have 5 singers in one, it has a male and female voice, also many resources such as vibrato, "melismas", falsetto, Staccato, whistle tone, reaching a( D8 )live "Outside of Piano"at the concert of Gakku in an unforgettable day, at his young age he continues to improve and grow musically to perfection, he has a good physical presence he measures 191 cm or 6 "3", he is very famous and recognized in Asia and now he is becoming known In Europe and America, ALL their songs are spectacular, it always goes from low to high, soft to spectacular at the end, in my almost half a century of life I never heard so much quality and it is the hope of continuity of the classical genre because all the old tenors have already Almost all of them died and Dimash can sing like them but none of them can sing like Dimash, being a Man he sings better than any Tenor and his female voice is superior to that of any average Soprano, greetings and a hug from Venezuela🇻🇪, "Dears" Forever ❤️👍🏻 Sorry for copying and pasting my informative comment in ALL the Video reactions to Dimash what I see but I do it with the intention of sharing information about him and what I think that in the music industry there are many artists who have been successful and have no talent and are bad people and they do not set a good example for the youth, Dimash and his music deserve to triumph in America, Europe and the whole WORLD, do you want to have already read my comment please come by without problem there is always someone who for the first time knows this information and I won't get tired of sharing it with all my friends"Dear" around the world, thanks for reading and for supporting Dimash 🙏🏻S.O.S. His earpiece wasn’t working. He was pointing to it when he first started to sing. This song is very emotional to him and the USA dears filmed them singing this song for his birthday. His dream is to sing his Kazakhstan songs and win a Grammy. His online concert in January had several Kazakhstan songs and an album will be out soon.

@@elenaserra8900 True. My concern is more like: will he be pushed into the mainstream or can he stay creative - in his direction. And if he can, will the western music industry support him and accept the slightly different view on things - that things like morality and empathy are more important than e.g. prestige and big cars...? (see TWB). I fear that he will be disappointed by the "western world".
On the other hand it will be a great chance to improve his "Dinglish"😂
I really admire his work and attitude and deeply hope he can preserve it because - besides of his voice - for me this is what makes him special.
      Stay healthy🇩🇪

Stefanie Huber I hope not, that’s what I fear as well. Dimash is so unique and I hope that, by him living here and being involved in the music industry, he doesn’t loose his morals and his values. I’m also so happy for him. If he’s able to continue to have his freedom on what he wants to pursue with his art and talent, I surely think he’ll be alright. If that doesn’t happen, then OMG I’ll be so sad. I want him to be recognized as he deserves it, but not at any cost.

In many cultures, a full moon is a symbol of beauty. I guess Kazakh culture it's no different

@@Tricia_K fair enough. Cultures which have a lunar calendar use the moon to track time. A month starts when you first spot the crescent 🌙. That's day 1. A lunar month is 28 or 29 days. The 14th day corresponds to a full moon :)
If you have a muslim friend who fasts Ramadan (the name of a lunar month), they will tell you all about :)

First big concert in his country after The Singer contest in China, 30,000 people attending. It was very emotional for him and Daididau is one of his favourite songs, a folk Kazakh song which he sings at every concert. I love the passion and love that he transmits in any kazak song, but Daididau is unique.
The string instruments are dombras and there are also Qobiz which are like violins only with two strings but with a very peculiar sound. If you react to SamalTau, you will apreciate the power and beauty of this instrument. I recommend Samal Tau, Tokio Jazz festival 2020 from his studio.
