People have literally gone thru high school, college, gotten married, and had kids while this friggin thing has been in development, and IIRC not one part of it is complete. The pessimist in me says they did this so people would keep pumping money into it, since if they released it in complete modules, 1 at a time, people might play it and not like it, but since nothing is complete, there's always this nebulous "yeah, but wait til it gets better!"
@@koppy82 1. Do you know what diminishing returns is? If you will hire 10.000 devs instead of 1.000 that will not make the development 10x faster. 2. You can not just hire devs out of nowhere in the market in the endless amount. Companies compete for high quality personnel, building a team and processes inside is sometimes harder than the development itself. 3. They reached the 1000 personnel only a year ago, before that it was much less, they started from almost 0.

But for the last 4 years they've had 600+ devs which is a large AA team size with a AAA budget. They started development in 2011 and it's 2025 in 1 week. Cyberpunk 2077 had 400 devs and started in 2012, released in 2020 - sure with issues but it was basically finished by 2022, also with a quarter of the budget. Same situation with No Mans Sky on a much much smaller scale. So where is the budget going? Plenty of massive games with smaller budget and teams manage to finish their massive titles. So your points doesn't really matter here.

It doesn't have "great playablity" it's totally busted. It doesn't have tons of content. It's almost totally empty. It has more ships by a factor of 50 than it does fully finished gameplay loops. A paper bag full of doodoo is fun if you have a box of matches. Some people have higher standard than the SC community as to what is acceptable and fun.
