    Something i’ve been meaning to try is doing a roll of star photos then double expose some portraits or something, always thought it would look cool. Also! The wider your lens, the longer your exposures can be before you get star trails!

    What's up man, I've actually shot film long exposures at night but I found it's hard to predict if you're going to love it or hate it. I think digital is ultimately better as you can see your results immediately and make adjustments. The main problem I ran into is if I do a 20 second exposure you can still see the stars slightly move and that's a bit annoying, I imagine a Sony a7s wouldn't have that problem though

      Yeah I’m glad a brought my digital otherwise I would had almost nothing lol

      I have an A7 and shooting at 50mm 1.4 the max exposure time for me with no star trails is like 4-5 seconds. If you want to do long exposures with sharp stars unforunately you need a star tracker or just find a sweet spot where you don't mind too much trailing. Can also take like 100's of pics and stack them but it can be loads of work to do.

    • @Usercehdbf
      @Usercehdbf 3 года назад

      @@balmung1992 that's because of your lens. With a sub 30mm you could probably shoot a lot longer. Especially since it's full frame

    My jaw dropped when I saw the price of the Portra 400 film. I did purchase a Portra 800 film in 35mm in 2020 for a concert and I don't think the price was outrageous then.

    Yep film sucks for shooting stars, but it's kinda great for star trail photography, especially if you are shooting with mechanical camera so you don't have worry about batteries (if the battery dies durning the shoot it will cut your exposure time).

    It looks like you had either a lot of camera shake or your exposure time was too long. I have a Pentax K1000 and once I finish recovering from my surgery, I will be giving it a shot to shoot astrophotography on film. I plan to use my star tracker and film ISO 200 or 400 and either a 50mm to get a wide angle shot or a 135mm to maybe shoot the Horsehead and Flame nebulas. I hope I do not have any star trails or camera shake.

    Sounds like you almost lived up to your IG name. lol. I've always been interested shooting the night sky and since I don't live far enough north for Aurora Borealis I'm left with stars and the night sky. That's not a bad thing. Have you heard about the Jupiter and Saturn conjuction in a couple weeks? On the 21st the two planets will be the closest together in our southwest sky in 800 years. The two will appear almost as one. I was having a quick habitual look at youtube for something to watch during lunch and I almost accidentally scrolled right by until I noticed it was you. No, there wasn't any unexpected expulsion of beverage when you admitted possession of a digital device. I confess I'd do as well. It's tough to shoot stars and not introduce trails. Isn't the suggestion keep the exposure time to 30 seconds or less? Ugh. I'm writing a book with no segue. I really liked the digital as well and because of the wider field of view but the the superia shots are nice and enough of a tease to try more. So, I really enjoy your style, sense of humour, presentation, and "eye." Keep up the great posts!

      Yes I’m planing on shooting stars again when Saturn and Jupiter align so hopefully I get cool stuff, unfortunately.... I will probably use my Digital camera again... but I do plan on shooting or wasting a roll of 120 to see if I can get anything
      I appreciate the feedback

    I wish you had been smarter! You are playing music while you were trying to get us to listen to your teaching-what were you taught in school to make you do such a foolish thing? Did your teachers play music for you to listen to while they were trying to teach you history? You are not alone in doing this on RUclips. The world is full of fools.
