- After the bad news about our new car in the morning and a stressful journey to Kampala in a hire car, we finally made it to the Mandela Stadium for my big boys, Adam and George, to watch their first football match and cheer on the Ugandan Cranes in a World Cup qualifier. Despite the setbacks, we made some unforgettable core memories. 🏟️⚽️🇺🇬🥰

Not only 4 kids a bunch of them! Others in secondary sections her alone supporting them financially!
"Hey, mum! Do you remember that time you took us to a football match by yourself and Uganda won!?"
That's going to be what you hear round the dinner table in 10 year time, and you'll have the best moment reminiscing about it with them. You just created a core memory for both boys with this experience. I hope you know just how special you're making their childhood by doing things like this with them (and give yourself credit for it)!
Kudos to you, Emilie for picking up the pieces after the unfortunate car crash! You did what a good mother does and refocused your attention to the kids to move forward . You showed yourself you could navigate the trip to the soccer/futbol stadium among hundreds of people and create wonderful memories of Adam & George's first visit to see futbol LIVE and IN PERSON!!! I loved the look of wonder on Adam's face when he reached to top of the stairs and saw the huge field, the big lights, the thousands of fans and the players on the field!! What a fantastic experience both boys will remember forever! You and Josh are doing an admirable job creating this loving, lovable, and resilient family!! Keep calm and carry on. A setback is just a set-up for better things to come. Keep planning loads of fun things for the family!! Emilie, I honestly have no idea how you manage to deal with your mental health plus also having to worry about the boys running around and making sure they are safe. You carried yourself really well in this one! Even for me, a stadium would’ve been a level 10 challenge for me as someone with social anxiety , plus I also would’ve taken a break in the toilets too haha ❤
It was a struggle! Driving to Kampala alone with the 4 kids by itself is a lot for me 😅 but they were so excited, I couldn't let all the rubbish with the car ruin their weekend!

It was quite good we already had all this planned/booked... stopped me from sitting home and being upset over the car as I was so busy trying to make sure the kids had a good weekend!

Emilie, I'm in absolute awe of you. Despite all the challenges you're facing - and these are big challenges, you still choose to give your boys a memory that will last forever. They will never forget that game or the experience. Well done, mama! And Josh, my heart aches for you. I can only imagine how disappointed you were to miss that experience with your family. I think by that point I was not only anxious about going on my own with the boys... but utterly exhausted after a whole day of crying/stress! We did enjoy the weekend though, but I did fall sick straight after 😅
@@TheLarters Emilie, stress can wreak havoc on your immune system. You can learn to manage your stress so that it does not make you fall sick later. A good way to manage stress is change your perspective about the situation. Avoid “awful-lizing” or thinking of the worst things that could happen. Next time, instead of being anxious and stressing out about a fast ride on the motorbike ride, fill your mind with thoughts of you all arriving safely and appreciation for the skillful driver in navigating the heavy traffic. Overflow your mind with thoughts of gratitude and appreciation for what you DO have and eager EXPECTATIONS of what you DO want to happen. Fill your mind with thoughts that serve you and revel in those moments of joy despite life's disappointments. You are an adventurer, a risk-taker , a courageous and compassionate woman who knows what she wants. You are doing a marvelous job from what you have shared on RUclips. Stay positive and keep the faith that EVERYTHING IS WORKING OUT WELL FOR YOU!

I really feel for you. I would have wanted to be curled up in a ball, with the cover over my head sobbing. I wish nothing but the best for you both and the kids. I hope the guys family do the right thing and pay up.
That is what I would have probably been doing if we hadn't already booked this and told the kids.. I didn't want to let them down! Not going too well with the family at the moment, but we're fighting 🤞

Will your brother and parents visit you soon in Uganda? How much longer will you and Adam be able to stay? The children have blossomed since you returned. I love seeing their smiles and how far they’ve come having two parents in the home.

It's good to see all the kids happy. Try and be more optimistic. It would be nice to see a brighter side of you despite the challenges. The things that happen are only temporary, so keep your head up. Even though Ugandas is not perfect, my country is very beautiful..praying that God will see you through all the challenges!
Please remember this was the day that the new car was destroyed, and this has been a huge stress. We now have a huge bank loan and no car. Despite this, I tried to make sure the kids still had a good weekend and took them to Kampala by myself for the first time- which wasn't easy! I did my very best considering the circumstances. Things aren't easy at the moment.
@TheLarters It will get better. It's only a matter of time. I hope all will be sorted out as soon as possible. At least you and the kids are healthy, and well, the rest will work out. Again, I am praying that God will see you all through the challenges.

how safe did you feel at the football match? was it scary being alone with just the boys? did any one come up and talk to you / ask about how you know the boys etc?
I’m so sorry to hear about the car, it’s so unfortunate, especially considering you need to spend money to recoup your losses. It seems mad to me that if a crime is committed the police need a bribe in order to deal with it appropriately.
I have an off topic question, I hope it is okay to ask this.
When you and Adam moved back to Uganda, I think you said something about how it was meant to be short term, and that you had a return flight to the UK booked. Is this still the case? Or are you now planning to stay in Uganda for longer?
With purchasing the car and everything, it seemed like you were settling longer term roots in Uganda. (I know if/when you leave, Josh and three of the children may have to remain in Uganda, and caring for 3 kids is simpler logistically with transport).
I love seeing the whole family back together, the love you have for Josh and each of the kids is visible in your face when you look at them - heartwarming! My hope is that you are all able to remain together as a family in whatever location you wish to live in. Hopefully soon!
