hi there, I'm looking to just like ride in the woods and all that and i was wondering whether to get a 4 stroke coz I've never ridden or bought a dirt bike
TPI bikes, 90% pro riders use 2 strokes in Europe. Other than sand tracks, 4 strokes are not as favored.
i wish you have mentioned where 2-4 strokes are used more often
@@omannomads1309 Great idea thanks for the input!
@@Ytshortsmans easier to ride and more forgiving and reliable but a hell of a lot more expensive also depends on height and weight and generally what year you want
In newer years bikes are generally same height but different weight but say you go back 20 years they are a little different I would recommend a 125 2 stroke or a 230 or 250 four stroke
MX factory: talks about four strokes
Also mx factory: shows 2 stroke engine rebuilds
Was thinking the same thing
@Pieter Odendaal Electronics have nothing to do with 2 stroke vs 4 stroke. They can both run electronics no problem. This video was misleading.
@CHARLES HANSEN yes 2 strokes are quite simple, that still hasn't got anything to do with electronics running off of the motor
I started riding later in life as an adult in my 30’s. First bike I bought was a 92 kx250 2 stroke. Learned to work on it, got my first experiences riding it, but I wasn’t getting much better. It scared me a bit. My buddy told me to sell it and get a 4 stroke. I picked up an 09 CRF250R. I’ve gotten way better in leaps and bounds (aside from a few crashes) than I ever did on the 2 stroke. I’m having way more fun and enjoying it a lot more now. So I agree with lots on that list for sure! Thanks for awesome content. Learned a lot from your channel, and try to go out and implement things when I ride. I am not much good at the track yet though. It’s a big step up from the beginner track to the other tracks here and it’s super intimidating
Well thats like buying a 450 4 stroke to learn on, should've gone for the 125
@@THAxBLiNt I’m a fat kid. Someone suggested a 250 would be decent. I bought the wrong bike. Lesson learned. 🤷🏻♂️
@@sparky_zap69 250 is just fine as long as you respect the bike. and dont push it. slow and steady is way to win the race on long run ;)
Ima go pick up my first ever bike rn it’s a 1999 Honda 200XR
My first bike looking towards the 4 stroke
Why are 4 strokes and 2 strokes fighting our enemies are quads guys
yes
@Oscar Moore i mean.. true
I love my quad, the MIGHTY FOURTRAX 250r
2 stroke quads > 4 stroke dirtbikes
69th
two-stroke takes one revolution of a crank for a complete cycle as a four-stroke take two revolutions of a crank to complete a four-stroke cycle
exaclty, 4 stroke talks about the number of strokes a piston does (up and down) and not the crank revolutions.
Yep - caught that also.
(Pumping hand up and down while saying the following)
Intake
Compression
Power
Exhaust
But I prefer 2 strokes.
Thanks for pointing that out 45 seconds into the video and I'm waiting for him to say flux capacitor and blinker fluid. Pistons are bigger??? Which one is closer to a Tesla Prius. 4 strokes have 4 speeds while 2 strokes only have first and last. Ronnie mack gives relationship advice in the next series.
Very interesting even though I ride a two stroke, I still want to learn about four strokes.
yes!!! Different perspective is good!
@@TheMxFactory I do agree with you, two strokes are more fun.
@@ChickenSepreme how do you know two strokes are more fun if you've never ridden a four stroke??? Lol I've found tons of fun in both platforms! That's why I gotta buy myself another 4 stroke cause the last one I owned was a 2016 Yamaha YZ250FX and I loved that bike dearly!!! I modded the crap outta that bike where it was furiously fast for a 250cc! It was also quite nimble and felt VERY planted unless you got into a big sand pit somewhere...maybe a 21+ YZ450FX will sit in my garage later right next to my TM EN300ES? - would be sweet to have two new blue bikes in 4t and 2t! I believe EVERY serious rider should have both, or at least try to ride both by swapping bikes with your riding buddies!
@@jonathondavis170 I actually have ridden a four stroke, I find it fun but I think two strokes are more fun. That's all I'm saying, no need to get mad at my opinion.
Edit: Sorry, didn't read the whole thing you aren't mad but very persuasive. Like I said I'm not saying four strokes aren't fun, there actually a blast to ride like all dirt bikes but, I'm just saying that two strokes are a little more fun than four strokes, in my opinion.
I don’t ride but I love to learn
I learned on a four stroke pit bike and now on a 125 two stroke. I think they both have good and bad things to them. When I'm a bit older and have the ability to buy two bikes I will definitely buy one of each cuz they're both great for different things. Muck love keep up the great content!
Yes two bikes is key. If you want to ride and go, 2stroke. If you like to wrench, 4 stroke. 😂😂 all seriousness I have both and honestly, I ride my 2 stroke 2 to 1. A lot of that has to do with my age. I’m 35 now and don’t ride track much anymore and as far as riding in the woods, 2 stroke is just so much more fun. 4 strokes have their place on the track. Torque and traction is hard to beat on the 4 stroke. I will say a top end on a 2 stroke is easier than adjusting valves on a 4 stroke. That’s my 2 cents.
Bruh how do you afford them
Cool just getting into fours. Been a 2 stroke guy for 35 yrs! Picked up a crf 230f a few months ago. Fun little bike. But definitely lacking in power. But for learning how to tinker on it, perfect! Great info in your vid man.
I say learning two strokes first is beneficial on getting on the bigger bikes. The bike will feel more easier to ride yet heavier man handle it. For both pros and cons I'm glad I started on a two stroke first 😌
I love 4 strokes they are so fun and I also love this channel the amount of stuff I learned from it my god
Yoooo I have a yz 250 4 stroke my first bike!!! This channel more or less taught me how to get going on a Dirtbike. (No one knows how to ride one in my family) this channel is 💯 👍
Also the vids are terrific, I have learned so much stuff from them!! Keep up the good work 👍👍👍💯
Thats awesome to hear Derek! We are always here to teach the correct and safe ways to ride a dirt bike!
@@TheMxFactory I wish, I don’t live any where near Texas 😕
I've always rode four strokes. Lots of people that I rode with had two strokes, but honestly they were the ones having different types of mechanical issues. Not always of course but in all the years of riding together they had to fix certain things but honestly my bike never had any problems whatsoever. It was always reliable no matter where I rode. The same is true today also. As much as I ride it , it just keeps on going. I mean I realize alot depends on the condition of a motorcycle & how well people take care of them. But overall a four stroke just fits my riding style. Really the important thing is two or four we are all out there doing the one thing that is like no other......RIDING!!🤘
I ride 4 strokes and I 100% agree with this!!!
Great video. Appreciate it. Just picked up a Honda 450RL. And I went back and forth on what to get and some of your videos helped. Thanks
I like this video but I do have a couple serious issues with the content:
0:48 FOUR crank revolutions per combustion cycle? You mean four piston strokes, that's two crank revolutions. Also pistons don't go around, they go up and down.
4:22 Four strokes are less fun? Yes sir, it's your opinion and does not belong in a video called "things you need to know." You enjoy being busy on 2-stroke motorcycle? Fine. But many people prefer to be relaxed when riding and find that to be more fun and enjoyable. Saying one kind of bike is less fun than another bike is likely to prejudice people who might believe whatever they hear without thinking for themselves, which a lot of people are doing nowadays lol.
Everything else is pretty much spot-on... thanks for another good video!
I love your video with all the clips riding, jumping and then even showing some mechanic work, very awesome and great way to keep people’s attention. I will keep watching and learning from you.
i used to ride 2 stroke 6 years ago, but since then i ride a 4 stroke for a couple of reason, i didnt sell the 2 stroke though, and some times i bring her back to track for the sake of nostalgia, and it always makes me lays a big smile on my face everytime i ride it :'
“Dump the gas and go fast”. I feel like this should be on a sticker or shirt
I kinda laughed a little bit when you said you teach on air cooled bikes which makes sense but I recently bought my first bike and I went all out and bought a yz250f 😂😂 I love it tho
I'm 56 years old and I'm still doing wheelies till this day on a 2 stroke 250 dirt bike love 2 stroke 2 stroke all the way 💯👍
🖤👃 BRAAAP!!! 🤙🏽
Also, two strokes aren’t as reliable but are cheaper. And four strokes are way more reliable but are more expensive. You need to worry about fouling a plug, getting a new top end or mixing you’re gas, which technically makes fours strokes the same price to work on.
Good points! Thanks for the input!!
I thought the same
4 strokes suck its all about the ping kings
@@boostedbigblocks6252 I wouldn't say they suck. There are positives to both.
@@boostedbigblocks6252 is that why they stopped making four strokes?
I ride a 250 two stroke. I love it, it’s more work with gear ratios and keeping in the powerband but also really exciting… low RPM little excitement but as soon as you hit the powerband you get it all. Like a car with a massive turbo. For me a two smoke has more character albeit a little more dangerous.
Everyone that rides a 2 stroke and rides tracks I have so so much respect for you🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
I wish Honda made a new fuel injected 300cc 2 stroke it would sell like hot cakes and damn I'd buy one at the first sight
I have a 350 SX-F and a CR 125 for my stepson. The low end power on the CR is trash, and it's hard for him to learn to ride cuz he keeps bogging it and stalling out... but it sure is fun to rip around the trails, so light weight and has a ton of pull in the power band, I love it. I grew up on 2 strokes tho I never rode them right... didn't have the internet to teach me what's up.
In Hard Enduro all riders rides 2 strokes. But I like 4 stroke more. :)
Just bought 2022 crf450r and I love it been on 2 strokes my whole life and I'm 30 been riding since I was 12..
I’m just a weekend warrior 2 stokes all day!!!
Much love to the Mx factory for putting up such good content, doing videos ain’t easy and takes a lot of your time, but please keep them coming 😂 👍
WE will keep them coming. Thank you for supporting us!
you guys gotta do a vid on riding tips from switching from a 4 stroke to a 2 stroke !!
I don’t have a bike but been watching this channel and have learned a lot on what bike to get
I love the video and I have learned a ton from watching your videos. As a mechanic a four stroke has two complete crankshaft revolutions per engine cycle instead of four as you said in the video.
Yes sir! Thanks for the support
I’m a beginner and have only been on a small bike to learn on. I’m going to buy my own bike soon. I have been flipping back and forth between a 2 stroke kx or a 4 stroke klx. By doing lots of research I think the klx 140 will be more my speed. I hear that the 4 strokes are easier to learn on, seeing as I have only ridden a few times on a very small bike. Over all, I think the klx will fit me better than a kx would.
Couple of things you missed.
1.) 4 strokes have more torque down low allowing you to ride in lower rpm compared to a 2 stroke. This means way less gear changes.
2.) 4 strokes have much better engine breaking helping you stop.
3.) 2 Stroke have a smaller piston because it sparks or produces power every rotation of the engine. 4 strokes spark and make power every 2 revolutions. Piston down-up is 2 stroke. Piston down-up-down-up is 4 stroke.
4.) Less maintenance. Some will argue about checking your valves. However replacing piston. 2 stroke 20-25 hours. 4 stroke every 50 hours.
5.) Electric start. 90% of all 4 stroke motocross bikes come with electric start.
If you're talking mx 2 strokes yes. Enduro 2 strokes a whole other ballgame.
Now that I'm old with only memories, I think back at all the bikes I have owned. Started with a Triumph Cub in 1964, which I seem to push home every time I rode it. Several 4 strokes later in 69 I got my first 2 stroke. A Kawasaki 238 Green streak.
Thought I had died and gone to heaven. In 73 I ordered the new Honda Elsinore. Have owned many bikes since, and now have a YZ250F and a XT 500 in the garage. Can't stop thinking about that 2 stroke Elsinore.😢
Solution. Own both:) I started on 2stroke in 90s so thats my roots. Pros and cons to both.
One thing you forgot tyler is 4 strokes tend to run hotter. One reason why 2strokes are still so popular in off road and hard enduro. Also the weight thing is fairly close these days surprisingly. If you have a 4t that is older than about 2017 its heavier but the recent bikes have gotten crazy light.
I enjoyed the 2 stroke vid, didn't know Cody is new to doing presentations, but he seems really cool
Two wheels and a motor, bring on the fun!
Always loved 2 strokes, built a lot and blew up a lot. 4 stroke imo is better for daily use and commute use. A 2 stroke is a high revving performance engine. Which requires more maintenance and rebuilds unlike the 4 stroke which is more complicated yes but more reliable in low rev use. Keep up the good work guys (4 stroke got more torque than a 2 stroke 😅)
Good comparison, but most important thing you didn't mention on 4 stroke - changing oil every 10 hours ....and valve check.
Think Cody is a creat addition to the team really love to see more two-stroke content because I just bought a yz125
You make my day!
Your support makes our day!
Very informative. New ta’ bike life. I want to get a Honda 150R to start off on so I’m soaking up the knowledge. Eventually I want to get a YZ though so I can have some real fun!😎 Keep up the great work guys👍🏾(love the vidz)
i just got a 2019 crf125f and it runs so well
Hi, I am 13 and I love Moro Cross and I am a big fan and I only see your video’s on youtube!
Good luck for upcoming videos and you are a great and very talented so good luck and have fun on upcoming videos🥳❤️😊
I love your videos im just starting to ride and I lucked out I got my first bike today it is a 4 stroke 230cc yamaha for only 5,000 and it was brand new. thx for pretty much teaching how to ride a dirt bike. :)
"only 5,000"
Cody is the 🐐!!
started learning on a KX85 now that im ready to buy my own bike im getting a KLX 140 so i can “learn technique better” but that 85 was fun asf i hope the KLX will be as well
i actually really like your last opinion on 4 strokes. the debate has been never ending since 4 strokes came out but no one who truly enjoys riding dirtbikes can say they dont enjoy riding a 2 stroke. everyobe who has been riding bikes since a kid has been on a 2 stroke at some point in their career
you guys make the best dirt bike videos!
@TheMxFactory you and cody are both super dope. I love 2 strokes for the life of me I said I’d never own a 4stroke and then got hurt and old and now im on a 4stroke I enjoy it more than I thought I would but I miss my two stroke just can’t get beat up by it no more😂😂😂😂
It was nice meeting you and chatting at Village Creek Tyler. I am still working on getting to Austin soon.
MORE CODY! Bringin the heat!
They are awesome!!!
What bike are you standing behind in the video? It’s a beauty!
I like this shit. Dudes helped me a lot as a 4 wheeler guy. Getting into the bike game. Two strokes hit way different. I got a 76 Suzuki TS185 and it makes all my Chinese bikes look slow. 😂
first one i rode at 14 was a Maico 490, like watching about all dirt bikes but 2 stroke smoker over a 4 stroke all day long
Shout out all my 450 rookie homies 👌✊
WYA👀
My 1st bike was a yz450 lol
I just got a 2011 yz450f 😬😎
Cheers for the vid! I just brought another 4banger last night yewww 🤙
I went from riding crotch rockets to a 250 4stroke...I was told I should have bought a 2 stroke first because it was lighter but once I got went riding with my 4 stroke a few times I got the hang of it really quick
Number 11. Maybe right for mx bikes but 2s enduro bikes have now far more low rev grunt, eadsiervto ride than 4s , especially efi ones which are snappy ;)
I have ridden a lot of both and I am here to say this video is accurate
This is very good to know! Thanks for the info. I have a four stroke but just switched to two stroke, but its still good to know if I go back.
Glad we are able to help!🤠🤠
Pump and go thank you!
I think that Cody did great. Would like to see him do some more videos as well.
This helped because I went from two strokes all my life then to a four stroke
I’ve had both a Yz 250 and a wr450f currently. I can say without a doubt that my 250 was more fun to ride. The yz just had that crispness to it wether it be power, handling, sound, rider feel. And the reason I got a wr is for a easy street and dirt conversion. They’re heavier and you can be a lot calmer on the bike but I’m not a fan of all the extra weight after riding a 2 stroke for years. And I find it makes me more lazy on the bike. Both are good on their own way for sure!
With you 100% 👍
Actually the 250 two strokes compete in MX2 now in europe and MXGP... Which makes them a really nice alternative...
Also you can sound like a sever thunderstorm instead of a bumble bee
More like farts lol
I’ve only rode a 4 stoke so far what’s your opinion and experience with 2 stroke Dirtbike’s ?
This video is helpful because I ride a ssr 110 4 stroke
Great video man form philippines
Video: on 4 strokes
description: "not as cool as 2 strokes"
me: happy knowing they like 2 strokes
edit: spelling
edit 2: changed 2 Strokes to 4 strokes
Thank you very much for everything
Thanks it helps I am a girl and love to ride dirt bikes.
Now were getting to the good stuff
Ohhhh yeahhhhh😎
liked and subbed and didnt skip the add to help you!!!
Informative & relatively short. A good combination.
The mixed gas for the 2 stroke stunk up
the interior of my van , regular gas kinda smells good
Was riding 2 stroke for 10 years then I got a 4 stroke by accident and now I ride 4 stroke. They're tractors it's reliable power you always know what it's going to do. Also if you like wheeling for 200 metres a 4 stroke can do it all day.
4 strokes for life
you go girl!
love the vids man keep it up
💪💪💪
1:09 - No longer true. I think it was 2 years ago that the AMA changed the rules so that all 250cc bikes are in the same class regardless of engine classification
Thanks I’m thinking about getting a crf 150
Get an 85cc
@@CyrusFisher619 I already got a 125 2 stroke I just wonna upgrade to a 4 stroke and stay at the lower levels
@@nottzar5799 ok
I got 90cc 4 stroke and I am not gonna lie it's good, and it's got a larger tank 3.5 litre tank of fuel so you don't run out of fuel easily.
I have a question, I am 15 going on to 16 and Ive been riding a klx125 for 3 years now and I'm the most comfortable out of all my riding buddies and I am caught up between going to a 125 2 stroke or a 250 4 stroke. ANY help is appreciated 👍🤙
I have a KLX 150L its a 4 stroke
I enjoy it in long rides because it doesn't overheat
Thing is you have to actually ride a stroke on the pipe to get the best out of it , 4 strokes are just big pit bikes my yzf 250 feels like a big fast pitbike gets absued but i wouldnt abuse a 2 stroke like i do a 4 id come off
I went to your camp a couple years ago (you will probably remember me as strawberry) and I gotta say congratulations on 300k!
I always thought 2 strokes were more expensive. Great video
I love both my kx85 and my Crf250r I find myself riding my 250 more because it’s different I just got it after never having a 4 stroke
#14. It ain't a two stroke.
😂😂 yessssss
Duh, that's what the title of this video is about!
Exactly
Cuz 4 strokes are better🙄
4 cycles are junk
2 Stroke for enduro... 4 Stroke for dual sport and moto... I have a 300XC and a 500EXCF. I love them both for very different reasons.
Please please do a compound Tour and I love the vids thay have helped me so much thank you
Old school racer here, 1980s Gary Bailey student 2x. Curious to know if 4 strokes are more throttle controlled vs 2 Stroke clutch/ throttle controlled? Basically, is heavy clutch used on 4 Stroke?
-2 strokes should be competing with the same displacement 4 strokes. There's advantages and disadvantages to both. But it would mean riders on a budget could be more competitive.
-The less pollution out the pipe is probably offset by the extra parts thet require manufacturing anyway.
-Mix oil into your fuel or change the oil in the crank case every ride.... I know which one is easier.
-Pro's ride 2-strokes! Enduro is where they shine.
I've had both. Different power delivery. The 2 stroke sound and smell is what I miss. Doing a top end no question, a 2 stroke is much easier, air cooled or water cooled. I miss my Honda CR.
Should I get a 450 4 stroke or a 250 2 stroke? I am giving my yz125 to my younger brother.
If you can find one for cheap buy an old 300 enduro.
450 because of racing 2 strokes are getting banned in racing but for fun you decide what is better
Cody is gd to go,great info awesome video ✊🏽
I hope these new EFI 2 strokes will continue to be made so things can go back to normal. I see more cons then pros with the 4 strokes. Features you wouldn't need on a 2 stroke, harder to work on, cant be much harder but definitely more complex, dirt bikes are suppose to be simple.
Technically 4 strokes have more pros than cons. Ok, ok, 2 strokes do sound cooler, and they are more simpler, but 4 stroke engines are easier to run bc you don't always have to change the spark plug, they are better for the environment, and they are usually quieter.
@@mrfilmer9270 my buddy has 160hrs on his ktm 300 and never changed the plug. And it's a carb model. I've fouled more plugs on my 200x 4 stroke than my 2 stroke. Why? Because jetting.
@@mrfilmer9270 But I'm still considering a crf250r or crf250f.
I’m about to buy my first 450. Should I have to find the top center each time I wanna start it
