I've been living full time in my 5thw , for bout 2 yrs now. And so I am new to the RV life ,. And I knew that there would be maintenance ,. But I've got to get a schedule down . Like today , in just a little bit , I'm bout to get on the roof and clean my ac coils ECT ,,,and I don't know I've got the stuff I need to do it,. I guess I just am feeling scared , ,,not scared just apprehensive that I wont be able to get the cover off, or something ,,, But I've prepared myself by watching lots of how to videos , and I just need to get it done and see what dirt and debris is up there,. I am gonna do it,. And I can do it! I will feel confident after I'm done with that and next job is cleaning the roof and painting on roof sealant ,, "One job at a time" But it's way worth it! And thanks for your info , and tips it gave me some insight on what I have been overlooking So thanks again

Considering an RV can move down the highway at 55+ mph, its like exposing your house to a gale storm each time you hit the road. Stuff works loose, road grime, salt, water spray, the sun, ect all take their toll.
I'll be honest, at first a seen the video and how long it was and your maintenance list . . I thought it was nuts. But I gave it some time, and man there was a lot of useful helpful tricks you have. One that stuck out to me, was the handles for the black and grey tank valves.. for so long i have to pull and push so hard. I didn't even think to lubricate them up.. Also that siding cleaner is a great idea .

First thing I thought seeing the 303 ‘aerospace’ protectant was, “I wonder if it actually has an AS code or Mil spec code” lol. Building torp system testing boxes for nuke subs at work so everything has to meet or exceed a spec.
Really great tips and advice. Regular maintenance is very important. I love your checklist, so organized! Great video! Full watch! Hope you have a great day! Thanks for sharing! 😊
I think you said you torque your lug nuts every trip. We have a GD Reflection 337 and at a rally the GD engineers said if you do that you must back off (slightly loosen) the bolts first or you will eventually over-torque your lug nuts and eventually breaking lugs! Especially in your case as 110 is the max torque. They recommended re-torquing once at 200 miles after re-installing.
When I say every trip I mean every 6 months cause We usually only move twice a year and I do my bearings once a year before one of those trips so I have to take the wheels off and obviously torque the lugs when I put them back on. So technically I only check for torque once a year haha 😊
Actually no. If you repeatedly re-tighten, even at the same setting, you're slowly increasing the torque every time you re-tighten to the click. Re-tighten enough times and you'll snap a lug. @@TraconWizard

I've had multiple RV specialists tell me not to lubricate the schwintek slide on my grand design imagine, which I found interesting. Can you provide any context to why someone would recommend not to lubricate the slide?
So this has always been a big debate in the Schwintek world. I recently found out a few months ago the you DO NOT need to lubricate the Schwintek slides anymore. Some older videos out there show a tech lubing these like I do. I guess that video is the old Schwintek system with the old coupler and metal gibs. Now it’s oil and copper infused and does not require additional lube. The Lippert people say by lubing you can actually cause the motors to work harder and therefore amp out sooner due to over coming a thicker more obstructed gear rack. This is straight from Lippert headquarters.
Good deal. This is a pretty old video. Here’s an updated product to eliminate a lot of those I use to use. I now use Boeshield T/9 on almost everything. 👍🏼👍🏼
Really like that maintenance sheet would be an awesome reference guide. would be cool if you can somehow attach a link to printout. As always great video thank you for the info.

I have issues with a Atwood furnace sail switch. I've had it replaced while it was under warranty 3 times. An have replaced it once myself. Every time it was replaced the furnace worked for about 2 days. So my question is. Is there anything else I can do? We've been using little buddy heaters to keep it warm inside the rv
It seems ridiculous the amount of chemicals we need to maintain an RV you think it would be an all-in-one . That we could save on space and use for everything

Hi thanks for the video. I learned a lot. May I ask, are you ever supposed to remove the old caulk? In all the videos I've watched noone has ever removed the old stuff.

Would you be willing to share your maintenance spreadsheet (if you haven't already)? Yours is more comprehensive than mine. I recommend you update electronically and add a Due Date field so you can sort the entire list by due date. Then all you have to do to stay on top of maintenance is ensure you're up-to-date (completed all due items before or on the current date) and you never have to worry about missing maintenance! Personally I use a database and simply click the "Schedule" button in my Maintenance Menu and presto, I'm looking at a work list sorted by due date.
A bunch of people have been asking for it. I’ll have to see what I can do. I printed a bunch of copies of the spreadsheet off two years ago. Have no idea where the file is anymore. I think it’s on an old tablet I don’t use anymore. I’ll probably have to make a new one then post it for people. Thanks for tips 👍🏼
How to maintain a hydraulic slide? My slide has cables on it. Also, what sort of epoxy or glue do you use to repair small holes (looks like a puncture) in the awning? I dislike having to wait for Amazon to ship something and include the time passes of having to go find the package if they deliver to the wrong place.
Cable driven slides are something I’ve never had to deal with but I’m assuming a product like Boeshield T-9 would be great for maintaining the cable 👍🏼 amzn.to/3eDfv1p As far as something to repair an awning hole I have to be honest, I have no idea. Sorry. 🤷🏻♂️
@@WhyWait Based on your maintenance video recommendation, I applied a "lubricant" like the T9 product. I'll keep searching for a way to fix an awning puncture. Thanks so much.
Question about the CRC lubricant for the slides. All the reviews i read say it does not come with a straw and other straws cannot be used. Can you let me know if that was the case when you got yours and if so where you got your straw.
That’s strange. Mine came with a straw and LCI techs have a video using only this product for the Schwintek slides too and they are using a straw. I believe some links on Amazon don’t come with it maybe. Use this link below 🔻 Good reviews and it has pictures of the straw. amzn.to/3k80p4f

Chris - really appreciate all your maintenance videos and product recommendations. They have helped us keep great care of our RV! I had a quick question about the 303 protectant. I do hear a lot of people rave about it, so I do think it’s a good product… but on all the exterior applications, I notice a lot of streaking occurs the first time it sees any water (morning dew, rain). Have you experienced the streaking of this product at all? I recently applied to a lot of items on our roof such as the black AC covers, roof vents, attic vents, skylight… but first morning we had some dew, it turned into a bunch of white/black streaks down all the surfaces I treated. Not sure if this is common or if its due to how I am using it (spray on to cloth and wipe down surface). Curious on your experience with it!
Thanks, appreciate you watching 👍🏼 I would say make sure to use only on clean surfaces. For best results clean the area first and it doesn’t take much 303 when applying. Out of direct sunlight(this is key) spray surface with 303 Aerospace Protectant and then wipe completely dry and or buff. If streaking occurs, too much product has been used. Use a wet towel to remove excess, immediately wipe completely dry. Note: this product does not air dry. Extra buffing with a dry cloth increases bonding, repellency and longevity. They recommend re-applying 303 Aerospace Protectant every 3-5 weeks for maximum UV protection. I will say that yes if I get lazy and just apply to my trucks rubber gaskets around the windows and didn’t clean the truck first or I don’t wipe it dry and buff then yes I’ve had it streak too. Hope this helps 👍🏼
@@WhyWait you know what, I definitely did clean the surface, but the “wipe completely dry part” may be what’s getting me. I probably have too much product on. I would spray 303 on a towel, wipe it all over the surface, but I wouldnt go back with a dry towel and wipe it again. I will try that next time around. Anyways, keep up the great videos. And I cannot thank you enough for introducing me to Boeshield T-9. That stuff is amazing. It helped me get rid of about 5 other lubricants and carry just this one product. From the RV to tow vehicle and all over our house, I couldnt recommend it enough. And one final shout out… my wife LOVES the gabe’s pride products. We have the hydraulic leveling landing gear and we use the CRC dry power lube with PTFE. Pretty versatile for most things. It’s basically a dry Teflon lube, prevents dirt and dust from sticking to the legs.
I would imagine a lot of it is the same, slide maintenance, tires, awnings, plumbing...of course there will be some differences but lots of it should relate to class A’s 👍🏼

Do you have any concern with the 30 second cleaner degrading the awning fabric with the bleach in it. Think most recommend dawn but looking for something with better cleaning power. Thanks
Nope! 30 Seconds Outdoor Cleaner can be used on a variety of surfaces; wood decks, concrete driveways, sidewalks, stucco, vinyl siding, brick walls, plastic outdoor furniture, you name it. If it's outdoors and dirty from humidity and wet weather, 30 Seconds can clean it all. Simply spray on and hose off. Here’s a link below. Great for the roof too. Is there any difference between CRC power lube and CRC dry lube? In video you say to use CRC power lube for slide out rack and pinion gears but in check list you say to use. CRC DRY lube. Thanks
You can really use either or. The dry lube with PTFE is probably better because it’s suppose ti create a dry film around most metal, wood, rubber, and glass surfaces to reduce friction and resist oil, dust, dirt, and harmful contaminant build-ups. The CRC power lube with PTFE is a wet lube that could attract more dust and dirt to stick to it. I use the dry lube when it’s available and I can find it. The CRC Power Lube comes with extreme pressure additives and PTFE to offer unparalleled lubricating performance. It has twice load carrying capacity of most general purpose lubricants. And it’s the only lube Lippert recommends to use on the Schwintek slide out style slides. Hope this helps.
Appreciate it! You definitely can rotate them and I’m sure it’s beneficial but I really don’t even though I do take them off every year to repack my bearings. All they do is spin back there. They aren't under power like a drive axle, they dont steer like the front of a vehicle, so I don’t believe it’s a big deal. Thanks for watching

I guess I just am feeling scared , ,,not scared just apprehensive that I wont be able to get the cover off, or something ,,,
But I've prepared myself by watching lots of how to videos , and I just need to get it done and see what dirt and debris is up there,.
I am gonna do it,. And I can do it!
I will feel confident after I'm done with that and next job is cleaning the roof and painting on roof sealant ,,
"One job at a time"
But it's way worth it!
And thanks for your info , and tips it gave me some insight on what I have been overlooking
So thanks again

How on earth could one over tighten using a torque wrench? Isn't that kind of the point.

At first ordered a bottle of general cleaner and glass cleaner to test it out… but just ordered the concentrate formula so we can mix up bottles all summer long. Really impressed with it!
Take care and look forward to more tips from ya!
@@ShaneMosier-fb8dq good deal 👍🏼 We love Gabe’s Pride too especially the multi-surface cleaner and their foam cannon with the RV Streaker. Sometimes we have a promo code for discounts to save with them, right now it’s just WHYWAIT at checkout so they know we sent you. Can’t say enough about Boeshield too 👍🏼 As always appreciate you watching and I’ll try to keep the content coming. Feel free to always reach out and I’ll do my best to respond.
Sounds great. Appreciate it!
How can we get a copy of your spreadsheet?
You can try this link. Not sure if it will work. This is a pretty old video of mine. I use Boeshield T-9 for almost all of my RV needs now.

Thank you for this video. What would you recomend to lube the landing gear and levers on an auto level trailer. 2019 Grand Design Momentum 376th
We have the hydraulic leveling landing gear and we use the CRC dry power lube with PTFE. Pretty versatile for most things. It’s basically a dry Teflon lube, prevents dirt and dust from sticking to the legs.
@@WhyWait I will try it. Thanks for the videos. Good job!
so many of these are for class a or 5th wheel , is the maintenance basically the same or do I need class A specific videos ?
I would imagine a lot of it is the same, slide maintenance, tires, awnings, plumbing...of course there will be some differences but lots of it should relate to class A’s 👍🏼
30 second cleaner is safe for the roof and awnings?
Yes, you just do smaller areas at a time on the roof and rinse it off the sidewalls as you go really good. Here is a video of mine on it. It’s one of my first videos and really old so excuse the sound quality.
Thanks for watching.

have you made a video yet on how you use the corroseal? We bought our Fifth wheel used, and the frame from the axles back is developing a good amount of rust. I would like to use the corroseal and go to town and get the frame looking as good as yours. I'm debating if I need an electric sander, maybe a grinder. Any advice would be appreciated. I respect your thoughts on RV maintenance.
I use that product out at work on our big tugboats in the harbor. It’s what our company provides and we use at the shipyards. Here is a link to the products instructions. Hope it works out for you 👍🏼

What’s the best trailer hitch ball grease?
This is an older video of mine. All I use for almost everything including my ball is Boeshield T-9! Great stuff. Use it on the tug boat I work on as well. Check out my video on it. Link below.

Great vid I saw some products I’m going to try like the 303....By the way i also like duck Tales 😀😎
Duck Tales is the best lol...so is 303. Use it everywhere. Especially on the truck. Thanks for watching!
I have a whole video on it you should go watch. Just don’t use the alcohol based one.

Here’s a link to read from the company about using it on awnings.

in replacement of lock , hinge , window......ect lubes i have a great hack that works very well and icheap from dollar tree or dollar general! COOKING SPRAY!!!!!
Do you use the 303 on your roof?
No, I don’t. Per manufacturer all our roof requires for maintenance is washing. 👍🏼
Thanks for the quick reply
Thank you for the video it was very helpful. Do RV tires need to be rotated like vehicle tires?
Appreciate it! You definitely can rotate them and I’m sure it’s beneficial but I really don’t even though I do take them off every year to repack my bearings. All they do is spin back there. They aren't under power like a drive axle, they dont steer like the front of a vehicle, so I don’t believe it’s a big deal. Thanks for watching
Would love to get a copy of your Spreadsheet! Any chance you could send that to me???
