The approval of both Covidsheild and Covaccine was done by *doctors and scientists* board of India...not Modi....
The Covaccine (made by Bharat Biotech) which was what Modi government was promoting was limited as doctors wanted to go slow with its distribution but it was still available to choose on the vaccination selection app...Plus the bharat biotech Covaccine was not getting fast approvals from international boards which made the process slow.....
on the other hand AstraZeneca which had all the international approvals reached in India.. they also mentioned that there can be rarest or rare case of blod clot case.. The serum institute of India got the license and hence Covidsheild was distributed faster......
Both the vaccines were available on the app for people to choose from... it was upto the people to choose.. but because Congraaass was actively questioning and tried to negate Covaccine, people wanted to go with Covidsheild (Foreign made) easily available and
.....with Covidsheild as mentioned by doctors any side effects would be noticed within 30 minutes and hence people were made to sit for 30 minutes at the vaccination centre only.....nothing happened and here we are 4 years later..

P.S Since there's no dearth of opinions, let me clear few things.
As a doctor I was working in the frontline back then, was among the initial few to get the vaccine, our hospital was only providing Covishield so I went to a nearby govt hospital and got Covaxin, clearly knowing it's made by older processes, efficacy could be less but should be safer, later during booster doses, I had to wait hours for few people to turn up so that they could open the vial, clearly public sentiments were against Covaxin with most batches got returned because of no takers.
Govt gave a choice, people went ahead with whatever they were comfortable with.
Lastly, anything that has effect is bound to have side effect, it's always the risk reward ratio, so no point of outrage now, accept and move on but be informed and seek timely medical help when feel the need.
During Corona Period I want to take Covaxin instead of Covishield but they give me Covishield. 😢 Vaccine was free so I not resist and take Covishield

I chose Covaxin, made in India, despite opposition from the Congress party, which was promoting Chinese-made vaccines and Covishield. Thankfully, I had complete faith in the Indian Modi government and the Indian-made vaccine.
Wait till they find something wrong covaxin... I doubt any covid vaccine exists that won't have side effects.. it's NOT ANY government fault. It's just that they didn't have time to complete the whole cycle of testing that they do with other vaccines ( usually decades of research to check the long term effects before clearance to administration to a larger crowd)
