As a fan I appreciate the walk through Scru. The funny thing about Royce's track is its a rare case where the gangster tryna out-nerd the nerd where its the reverse. Lupe up 1
Also, it should be noted, IN the Daylyt King Los battle, Daylyt name dropped Royce. Saying initially he had Royce on the table before being offered King Los
See I think since Lupe been in relaxed mode Royce thought he would get an easy win. However, They must've forgot that Lupe is a beast on that MIC 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The sad part is Lupe always had clever writing while having something to talk about. Royce just throws words together that rhyme with heavy pop references(i.e. shock rap)
26:30 was a reference to Royce's old Malcolm X diss which is funny because This diss to Royce is exactly how Royce dissed D12 it felt like a song was everything he had been wanting to tell them in the first place.
I heard these tracks came out while i was camping ⛺️ with no reception instead of looking for the songs i looked for this reaction first!! Scru you the master of this battle shit!!
Lupe straight up Sun Tzu'd him, win or not. Royce wanted to fight technically, make it all look pretty. He came up with a super intricate piece and dared the intellectual Lupe to out-technique his Opus. Then Lupe made the fight ugly. He lanced straight into him with no respect whatsoever for the piece he made and kicked the legs out from under him. All this technical lyrical banana bread and this one off the top of my head sounds every bit as fire, if not more. And most of all, every lyric is there to make you feel ashamed of yourself. Pretty that up.
It started when two other rappers (I forget) claimed they were the best rappers. Royce then said they weren't and that sparked an IG live Convo where him, Lupe and others were talking about how to determine the best. Lupe mentioned an international rap contest called E O Dub and said that their champion is the best rappers because he proved it. Royce said that he was better than all them and Lupe said he had to prove it. This sparked some competition as everyone started claiming they were better and Lupe challenged them all to rap. Royce got annoyed and him and Lupe started to get into it a little. Then Loaded Lux and Mook tried to set up a battle between Lupe and Royce, Royce said he'd win. Loaded Lux called Lupe and told him that Royce wanted to challenge him and so Lupe joined the live and challenged Royce. They got into it some more and Royce ended up calling Lupe a Bitch. Lupe left. Mickey Factz then told Lupe that Royce was going to drop a diss response. So Lupe did a 9 min freestyle dissing Royce on his live. That's how we got to this. Edit: Royce's diss is a response to the Lupe IG live freestyle.
Still don't get how yall said Lupe won the 1st cz Lupe started shit with a whack 2min and Royce responded. Shit is in round 2, don't know where MICKY fits in dou, if Royce doesn't respond then Lupe wins round 2
I think Lupe is winning but to be fair this is like Lupe's round 2 Vs Royce's round 1. That being said Royce's song choice and mixing wasn't optimal, made it hard to hear what he was actually saying whereas Lupe came with a clearer track full of counter punches, so Royce needs to do the same if he responds if he wants to win or even tie. Sure Royce's somg was more technical but at the end of the day it's a battle conprised of disses, not who has the better technical skills.Royce is trying to play chess in a Knock em sock em robot competition.
This is such a great video. You missed my favorite part though “Your story Crooked and your Book too” I thought that was so clever and simple. I love this hip-hop shit you have a new subscriber. You know what you’re talking about
I discovered you from ERB. I like what you've put together here buuuuttttttt.... I'm disappointed that there isn't more Lupe on your channel. The man is an undercover G.O.A.T.
Lupe dismantled Royce on every level. Embarrassing for da 5’9. The last line is a straight up facts and fire combination knockout. This started when Lupe said all y’all doing is taking when you going to rap. Royce later said Lupe was up for the battle game. Royce m must have never listened to Lupe. It’s the only conceivable reason that he would not understand that Lupe within a few hours could incinerate Da 5’9. FACTS
This is tough!🔥 It honestly depends on what you like. For a diss track, I'm leaning towards Lu just because it seems he was more direct, and his delivery on the beat he chose keeps your attention. However if you're into technical bars and you relisten to Royce's track, you catch so many gems. All in all, as a diss track for the low attention span of a lot of people, Lupes track is more clear, direct, and has that pop in the punchlines. Honestly it's close, if you listen to both tracks multiple times, I think I got Lupe for replay value, but thats my biased opinion because I like Lu's flow on here. We need rd 2
This is why I have daylyt above Royce… cuss he does what Royce does but at the same time breaking down his opponent… vs tay roc he literally had all types of earth roc gravel scheme telling u historical shit while also breaking down tay roc
Yeah, I've listened to Lu's track multiple times, but that Royce track bored me our after 3 minutes. And I listen to more Royce than Lupe. But his choice for beat, melody, flow and content have me like 👀👀
Two classics and you don't mention Tetsou & Youth? That's an art piece. That's better than both Food & Liquor AND The Cool. And Lupe ate Royce, spit him out and sipped him up. I guess that's F&L
@@jesusonmymommy4933 waa really? Manilla, Gold vs Right Thing, WAV Files, Sun God Sam...Sun God Sam is so good., Timbuck2, Mural Jr., Cripple. Aight I guess the entire album not a classic. But tracks like Sun God I think is on par with his best works.
*YOUR INTELECT OF HIP HOP VERSES IS UNQUESTIONABLE SCRU FACE JEAN*. *ME AZ-A-LYRACIST MYSELF SAID FIRST-N-FOREMOST HE SHOULD HAVE MADE HIS VOICE WAY MORE CRISPY*.
IMO, when it comes to a “rap battle” the sonic production of the diss is weighed way less heavy than what the rapper is ACTUALLY saying. Who cares that Royce’s song was better sounding?? Lupe lyrically dismantled Royce and that should be all that matters. A bunch of banshees could be in the background instrumentally and it would still be a better DISS.
I've noticed you and Knox Hill have way more nuanced takes being rappers. You see through a lot of the stuff that dazzles the casual listener. If you go line by line are we talking all this about _you_ or awfully hot coffee pots? It's a difference. I appreciate it Scru! You know that Royce song would get tore up in battle rap.
Lupe is the greatest lyricist of all time and just beat one of the other top lyricists with ease making and releasing the song in a day. Nobody tell me Eminem is the greatest battle rapper ever again, Lupe would put him in a spliff 😂
I give Royce credit for his lyricism.....but Lupe Fiasco won. Go listen to Mickey Factz diss record to Royce. Straight killed it! I don't know if Royce can come back from this.
Eh. He had a lot of throwaway filler bars that just made the song way longer than it needed to be. It sounded nice but it was literally lyrical miracle rap lol. Flashy rhymes, very little substance
I want to see what Royce does with this type of direct confrontation... cause he came out styling & Lupe turned it into a streetfight 😂 this is gonna get bloody
I know this old but the reason for the beef is Royce took offense to Lu raising his voice wit his shirt off on live. After that the diss tracks started flyin & Lupe bodied bruh 🤦🏽♂️
Royce took his time. Lupe took mere hours. Royce was serious, lupe wasn't. Royce decided to impress with more rhymes. Lupe talked straight facts. I'm lupe all the way. If royce is fr then prove yourself in round two, lupe can rap harder for longer. Mural > Royce as a whole lol, I'm sorry no hate just facts.
*LUPE & ROYCE: WHO WON THIS?*

Lupe won way more direct and scathing disses
Royce won lyrically.

As a fan I appreciate the walk through Scru. The funny thing about Royce's track is its a rare case where the gangster tryna out-nerd the nerd where its the reverse. Lupe up 1
Before listening to either tracks I honestly thought Royce would have it no contest. Boy was I wrong.
Yo that line about gangs pressing their own but the giving police a pass is something that should be discussed much more
I truly believe that he felt forced to make clever writing just because of how crazy lupe can get with pen, but lupe wasn't in play mode.
The sad part is Lupe always had clever writing while having something to talk about. Royce just throws words together that rhyme with heavy pop references(i.e. shock rap)
You're right lol Lupe did an Uno reverse on Royce 😂😂
He did exactly what I did....walked away at the Dr. Sebi part LMAO
26:30 was a reference to Royce's old Malcolm X diss which is funny because This diss to Royce is exactly how Royce dissed D12 it felt like a song was everything he had been wanting to tell them in the first place.
I was thinking he was freestyling too. He got right to the point without all the lyrical miracle shit.
I think he was too because he responded within 2 hours
Lupe went directly at royce
Thanks for bringing me up-to-date Scru. I don't have time to keep up with all that shii, so I appreciate it bro!
"I got a dozen more", like a whole D12 Lupe?
Yesssirrrr
Dont forget Slaughter House lol
Lupe was the first rapper I followed album to album as a kid 😂. I heard other rappers before but Lupe was in another level out the gate.
Royce disappeared after this....
RIP to a very decent rapper
Lupe took round 1 EASY
Niqqa said forget all this clever set up punchline industry bs
I’M AT YOUR NECK TODAY!
YEP.
Still don't get how yall said Lupe won the 1st cz Lupe started shit with a whack 2min and Royce responded. Shit is in round 2, don't know where MICKY fits in dou, if Royce doesn't respond then Lupe wins round 2
@@sihlesifundo6721 both mickey and lupe bodied royce, dont even try man.
You know what you’re talking about
Is he saying Lupe is the gay black dude from Lambda Lambda Lambda from Revenge of the nerds? If so, that's hilarious.
Yea he was, cause of lu's revenge of the nerds album
Royce tried to call Lupe Gay and Lupe was like, hold my black belt
I expected this with Lupe though when he get in his diss bag always🔥🔥🔥🔥
Lupe slid like I wanted. Straight bodied Royce.
Scru is the GOAT REACTOR hands down!! 🐐 everything you need from a reaction video is here!! 😂🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
FACTS
Btw Lupe kept referencing "Heaven" because Royce calls his studio Heaven, let that sink in 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Damn. I just learned about this whole beef and Lupe, in my opinion, dropped some destructive poetry. Nice.
I would like to thank Lupe for exposing royce for some things I ain't even tryna get into lol but facts and fire
The basketball metaphor was perfect my dude
YES THANK YOU BEEN WAITING ON THIS ONE
This is tough!🔥
It honestly depends on what you like.
But his choice for beat, melody, flow and content have me like 👀👀
On a technical level , Lupe way ahead of Royce when it's come to technical rapping, and Mural is a good example
still come back to this reaction...Lupe is juuuust incredible!!!
Two classics and you don't mention Tetsou & Youth? That's an art piece. That's better than both Food & Liquor AND The Cool. And Lupe ate Royce, spit him out and sipped him up. I guess that's F&L
Drogas Wave is right there too. Too long for most but still imo eons better than any Royce has ever done.
Bruh when he said 2 I was baffled, and that's first on my list as well...
He obv hasn’t really listened to Lupe like that
4 with a fifth one on the way
I think Tetsuo & Youth has better tracks than The Cool and F&L, but The Cool as an ALBUM is Lupe's best complete piece.
i didn’t catch everything royce said the first time. it’s a tough track
Lupe arguably got 4 Classics
F&L
Cool
Tetsu
Drogas Wave
@@krisiscove facts not even debatable
@@krisiscove ❌ wave off there lol
@@jesusonmymommy4933 waa really? Manilla, Gold vs Right Thing, WAV Files, Sun God Sam...Sun God Sam is so good., Timbuck2, Mural Jr., Cripple.
Aight I guess the entire album not a classic. But tracks like Sun God I think is on par with his best works.
@@krisiscove yes
Sometimes I'll just revisit this and enjoy the music but then I remember this is kind of a Detroit &Chicago beef rap. (From Detroit btw).
*YOUR INTELECT OF HIP HOP VERSES IS UNQUESTIONABLE SCRU FACE JEAN*. *ME AZ-A-LYRACIST MYSELF SAID FIRST-N-FOREMOST HE SHOULD HAVE MADE HIS VOICE WAY MORE CRISPY*.
no lie i have watched this reaction every day since it came out
IMO, when it comes to a “rap battle” the sonic production of the diss is weighed way less heavy than what the rapper is ACTUALLY saying. Who cares that Royce’s song was better sounding?? Lupe lyrically dismantled Royce and that should be all that matters. A bunch of banshees could be in the background instrumentally and it would still be a better DISS.
Feeling the analysis bruh
I've noticed you and Knox Hill have way more nuanced takes being rappers. You see through a lot of the stuff that dazzles the casual listener. If you go line by line are we talking all this about _you_ or awfully hot coffee pots? It's a difference. I appreciate it Scru! You know that Royce song would get tore up in battle rap.
Calling me a bitch like Salem callin me a witch I kno he didnt say like that but thats deep historical flow bro that is levels above
Lupe is the greatest lyricist of all time and just beat one of the other top lyricists with ease making and releasing the song in a day. Nobody tell me Eminem is the greatest battle rapper ever again, Lupe would put him in a spliff 😂
I love when your scru face changes when that bar hits 💯🔥💛
I give Royce credit for his lyricism.....but Lupe Fiasco won. Go listen to Mickey Factz diss record to Royce. Straight killed it! I don't know if Royce can come back from this.
As a huge Lupe fan I'm so glad this happened. This should prove to a lot of people that Lupe is not to be played with
Listen closely.... Lupe just freestyled that diss track ... 🔥
Love your reactions to rap beef always so good
Lupe came into this as a battle but you can NOT ignore the fact that Royce was absolutely TALKING
Eh. He had a lot of throwaway filler bars that just made the song way longer than it needed to be. It sounded nice but it was literally lyrical miracle rap lol. Flashy rhymes, very little substance
Epic reaction! Very good break down.
that lean on me carries on from the 9 minute freestyle
Under rated ending to the response-video. Jarring, like, “where’s more?”
I want to see what Royce does with this type of direct confrontation... cause he came out styling & Lupe turned it into a streetfight 😂 this is gonna get bloody
Ever listened to Malcolm X? Royce is more than capable of bodying ANYBODY in real confrontation.
@@JoeLancaster hope it doesn't take him weeks/months to respond...
Loyce said he ain't replying. He said he done.
@@zero2champion419 I doubt he'll respond again. He did enough with the first one to remove any doubt that he's the best
@@JoeLancaster ever listened to Mural?
I know this old but the reason for the beef is Royce took offense to Lu raising his voice wit his shirt off on live. After that the diss tracks started flyin & Lupe bodied bruh 🤦🏽♂️
Royce took his time. Lupe took mere hours. Royce was serious, lupe wasn't. Royce decided to impress with more rhymes. Lupe talked straight facts. I'm lupe all the way. If royce is fr then prove yourself in round two, lupe can rap harder for longer. Mural > Royce as a whole lol, I'm sorry no hate just facts.
Bruh. Facts! 😂🤣
As diss songs go: Mickey did it the best on a scale of 1-10 (10 being the best)
Mickey 9
Lupe 8.75
Royce 8.50
@@chrismiranda5648 my man fr tho 🤣
Lupe was very serious. And sounds mad that Royce even had the audacity
@@lonerebeI and for good reason, cause he's right...just saying.
