1972 Ford Gran Torino 521 Big Block Build Project
This 1972 Ford Gran Torino has been rebuilt as a period-era hot rod. Essentially the owner looked at how it would have been upgraded in the in the 70’s. This was a frame-off restoration. Meaning this baby is better than it rolled off the factory floor.
The engine has been upgraded from a 351 to a Ford 385 series 460 cubic-inch big-block. Displacement was increased to 521 cubic-inches (8.4L). These engines are beasts and known for their power. It was the basis for the amazing Boss 429. Unfortunately they were the last breed of big-blocks for Ford.
The engine includes Eagle forged crank and rods, Wisco custom forged pistons, aluminum Super Cobra Jet heads with Kasse mods, solid flat tappet Lunati cam, Lunati solid lifters, Pro Systems billet carb, and many other upgrades.

Thanks, I'm the guy that actually built the car (with some help from friends of course) and had no idea this video existed. Looks like these companies scour the web for content and then repurpose it and the author doesn't even know it. Anyhow, the car is located in Sweden now, some cool guys over there purchased it and have sent me pictures of it's new home. They're enjoying the heck out of it, still all the same as it was.

I owned one of these when I was a teenager. It only had a 351 Windsor engine, but was still a lot of fun to drive. I sure wish it would have been the fantastic shade of blue that yours is.

Without a doubt, the most beautiful muscle car ever produced by the Ford Motor Company, or any other manufacturer PERIOD.

At first, I was sad you were taking apart a nice looking car. After I saw your "theme" coming together, it made me feel better. Nice job. Would love to go carve some canyons with this. Or in your case, maybe the blueridge parkway??

man that's the nicest gran torino i've seen. love the stance and it's the first one i've seen with a stick. dig the grabber blue and stock car style (it's a southern car after all) wheels. if i had to nit pick: white face gauges.

The fronts are ok. I saw that he did put the Lincoln disc brake 9in. rear in it though. That will help. The dirt trackers used to use these front brakes and suspension for years.
