1972 Ford Gran Torino 521 Big Block Build Project
This 1972 Ford Gran Torino has been rebuilt as a period-era hot rod. Essentially the owner looked at how it would have been upgraded in the in the 70’s. This was a frame-off restoration. Meaning this baby is better than it rolled off the factory floor.
The engine has been upgraded from a 351 to a Ford 385 series 460 cubic-inch big-block. Displacement was increased to 521 cubic-inches (8.4L). These engines are beasts and known for their power. It was the basis for the amazing Boss 429. Unfortunately they were the last breed of big-blocks for Ford.
The engine includes Eagle forged crank and rods, Wisco custom forged pistons, aluminum Super Cobra Jet heads with Kasse mods, solid flat tappet Lunati cam, Lunati solid lifters, Pro Systems billet carb, and many other upgrades.

Great job. one of the best i am have found.
Thanks, I'm the guy that actually built the car (with some help from friends of course) and had no idea this video existed. Looks like these companies scour the web for content and then repurpose it and the author doesn't even know it. Anyhow, the car is located in Sweden now, some cool guys over there purchased it and have sent me pictures of it's new home. They're enjoying the heck out of it, still all the same as it was.
The 1972 Gran Torino is my favorite car of all time and you have done an amazing job restoring this one!
I owned one of these when I was a teenager. It only had a 351 Windsor engine, but was still a lot of fun to drive. I sure wish it would have been the fantastic shade of blue that yours is.
Without a doubt, the most beautiful muscle car ever produced by the Ford Motor Company, or any other manufacturer PERIOD.
Nicely done. My first car was a 73
Wonderful job congratulations
At first, I was sad you were taking apart a nice looking car. After I saw your "theme" coming together, it made me feel better. Nice job. Would love to go carve some canyons with this. Or in your case, maybe the blueridge parkway??
That is beyond fantastic. I love it to bits and I have so much want.
I'm lost for words .. love the Gran Torino ... especially the one used in Starsky and Hutch 😉
i'm jealous !! i have a 72 ranchero i'm planning out - hope mine is half that nice when i'm done !!
man that's the nicest gran torino i've seen. love the stance and it's the first one i've seen with a stick. dig the grabber blue and stock car style (it's a southern car after all) wheels. if i had to nit pick: white face gauges.
Nice Torino. And True Blue Ford Power!!!
Very nice! I always wanted to do something like it with a John Kaase 600ci Boss 9 engine.
Awesome Job Sir.
Beautiful job well done
Gorgeous machine
Nice
You didnt even fire it up for us man!! Looks nice..but does it run??
I wish I had the time and money to restore my 72 like this! Mine is a bit more far gone than his was to start
beautiful Muscle car!
Love it! Needs a two inch drop.
about time to see some decent ford builds .......instead of watching boring over rated chev builds on you tube ....all the time.......
Waw! Beautiful.
Excellent restoration I would have done a restomod rim an tire set up tho . But also kept the Nascar wheels for when I drive the crap out of it lol
The car was beautiful ... but he could have invested more in the wheels ... I think it would look much more beautiful
Slot mags like the Starsky & Hutch car would look cool too IMO
So BLUETIFUL💙🚗😍
I need the playlist of this video.
Looks good in Petty Blue!
grabber blue. :)
Its a NASCAR Torino!
Who's liking my comments?
Hey where can I find one of these for sal
Nice job... but really, a 521ci big block and stock brakes!
The fronts are ok. I saw that he did put the Lincoln disc brake 9in. rear in it though. That will help. The dirt trackers used to use these front brakes and suspension for years.
What color blue is that
Ethan Parker
God ugly blue
Charles henson thank you man
Love the car, hate the color & I would of color matched the bumpers along with some better wheels, otherwise it's awesome!!
The color and the Aero wheels are the best part
Ain't she sweet.
Very cheap wheel's. !!!!!- make's the car look junk.
