This song is mesmerizing, hypnotic. I'll listen to this over, and over, and over and it pulls me in. The subtleties, the melody, the guitar, all of it. And the lyrics, speak volumes.

Honestly, I'm really starting to getting sick of people's petty concerns and perceptions of this album. I get that we love The Black Keys for their original blues influenced rock sound, but if they just made the same album over and over again they would have never come out onto the world stage and into the ears, hearts and minds of a much wider audience. Im glad that they are progressing and developing their musical style rather than stagnating and fading away into the past. They have done the hard yards of being in a relatively unknown garage rock band for so many years while most of you didn't even know of their existence. It would be fantastic if you all could, just for a minute or two, open your minds to something new and enjoy this music for what it is, look at it from a creative standpoint. Don't criticise their material so harshly, especially those of you who wish to live in the past.

Why are so many people calling this album pop? It's psychedelic rock. This sounds more like Pink Floyd than fucking One Direction or anything in the top 40.
agreed it's blues with a twist of psychedelia which I like but if you want to hear psychedelic in a purer form then listen to The Black Angels

jokerzpryd productions its not psych rock at all, though it does have obvious bluesy undertones etc. The most recent album is definitely more "pop" than their previous work I would say

Yeah I see where everyone is coming at but remember there is an entire album ahead of us and this song. The black keys make different genres for people of all types to enjoy them, whether that be blues, hard rock or more chilled back music like so. Pretty smart in my opinion.
i know its not Brothers or El Camino but its a good and diferent way to appreciate it, they have a good taste...
Brilliant! Glad to see a band experiment and grow AFTER they get more successful. (i.e. Radiohead, etc) Very psychedelic and early 70's soul. Love it!

Dan's voice has gotten SO MUCH BETTER since brothers.
those who winge and complain about the Black Keys music dont seem to know much of music in the first place to be making a remotly constructive capture of the sound. The black keys on a piano, are the essential blues style notes. The band explores the whole spectrum that influences rock/blues/bluegrass.. A single scale is a world of creative possibilities. There are bands out there that i don't peticularly like, but can still appreciate and understand how they got to be influencial in their musical construction and its impact on cultures and whole movements. Just because one does not like it, why not just listen to what one likes then? .. for those whom don't understand the "weird sounds", well, music does not have to be solelly melodic.. all ranges of sounds can instigate a "mexican wave" of thoughs and emotions. A good example is how music soundtracks (specially when it comes to intense emotions like fear or courage) can enfasize the actions, and many times determine them!
In defence of good music though, i have to say, that the ears and brains that are tuned to the same notes, frequencies and beats, might be dulled. Pop industry has ruined the beauty of music as a form of expression and turned it to an automated repetitive and noisy. Yes, noisy, cause producers in the industry have a "noise war" going on. all has to be loud!! so intead of recoding at and harmonic frequency (432hz/natural) it's at 440hz.. Plus!! Pop fans, i am sorry to spoil it for you, but most, if any of the singers in this bubble of music, they cant sing. The voices are tuned with a machine to the right pitch of the song, meaning that even your dog could feauture in any song you please!!! thus there is hardly any art in "main genres". It all sounds the same, because it is... a boring formula of selling dull music for the masses... CATCHING!!! $$$$
But getting back to the beguining, The Black Keys??!!! Guys, your music is awesome. When one thinks that it couldn't get better, or like some bands that become the same, thank your for your music =)
Now, this song I like. I wasn't a big fan of Fever, but I definitely like this one.
I think this song and Fever still have that TBK feel to them like their previous albums. Obviously it's a new album so it's gonna sound different but I can still hear the flare that makes it a black keys song.
This album has grown on me last couple of weeks, can't get tired of listening. What a wonderful piece of music :)

I don't get why many people hate this song. For me, this song is a one of a kind rock song. The Black Keys and other rock bands like them are the reason why people still listen to rock songs until now.

It's so sad that everyone is complaining. Sellouts? I never believes in those "stick to your style" mantras. These songs may be different but personally I really like them and I really think it's their decision and they should write exactly what they feel regardless of the genre or direction. Calling the sellouts is idiotic. Grow up man. If you don't like too bad, their purpose is not writing to please everyone. Art should never be like that. The only thing art should be is sincere, pure feeling but every one complains like it's their right. If anything, this is less "selling out".

I know different doesn't mean bad, but I can't really enjoy this. What I liked about The Black Keys was the dirt of their sound, organic, sexy, deep and especially badass. This sounds like it was made on a computer. I don't feel it.

I'm loving this song. Could have used a chill guitar solo in the middle there. Other than that, it's cool.
This album should please older fans and upset El Camino bandwagoners. El Camino was a collection of mostly forgettable pop songs, but this album has a tinge of uniqueness to it. Also, that opening riff is one of the best I've heard on the radio in a while.

Eh, I like it, it's nice and chill. I'm not a huge Black Keys fan, and maybe that's why I like it, but you can't blame a band for trying something new. Maybe people felt the same way about the Beatles back in the day going from Rubber Soul to Revolver to Sgt. Pepper.

anybody know of any bands that have a similar sound to the black keys? I really love their attack and release, thickfreakness, and brothers sounds, but their last tape was good to.
I'm very neutral about this song. The vibes are kicking and their direction is a nice switch up. And of course, you can't judge till we see the new album. But I gotta say, I'm not sure if I will be listening to this album a lot if it turns out like this.
I love these guy's and I've always been a big supporter in what they do. But I guess something about this is just turning me off. I can't fight it anymore, but I am glad they put out 7 amazing albums. Maybe in another 2 or 3, they'll catch my ears again. Until then, I'ma stick to their more soul felt albums.

i know right, i think i'ts great but i can understand why fans of the older black keys would be ''dissapointed'' or let down by this album because the older Black Keys sounded kind of rougher, gritty blues songs. But i enjoy pretty much all their music.

I don`t like that album because it makes the Black Keys another band who is deconstructing, making mixture of music styles already past. They at fact never played anything new - but I liked that fascination in blues, rock n roll. I can predict, next album will be nu metal or hip hop.
