    With all the deletes on the 23' Platinum, save yourself a ton of money and get the 23' Lariat BAP optioned up and save yourself nearly 10k! The 23' Lariat BAP has the exact same front end as the Platinum, I know because I have one. Ford needs to focus more on what makes the company what it is and pay less attention to the battery operated toys, just sayin'

    Good review. You say how comfortable F150's are, and this Platinum in particular. Do you know how comfortable a long highway drive the Platinum with its luxury seats but leaf springs in rear is compared to the Tremor and compared to the Raptor with its springs instead of leafs in the rear? So many youtubers say how buttery smooth the Raptor drive is. I'm wondering how the Platinum and Tremor compare. I want a full size luxury truck and am only considering the F150 b/c of that fold out flat work surface in the front center console option. I just can't decide between the three versions I've mentioned here.

    Great review thank you. I currently have 2020 ford 350 lariat 6.7 power stroke diesel vs opportunity to buy new fully loaded 2023 Ford 150 platinum 3.5 power boost. Besides 10-15k trade in value what I’m looking for in comparisons is I love my 2020 except I don’t need to tow anymore and love the power acceleration i have with it, it’s such a big truck i love it. Will I love the 2023 ford 150 platinum and is it same size for a large man like myself 6.4 300 pound athlete? Will I miss the acceleration? it seems from your video I won’t as the power boost is powerful here with 2023. Any advice/comment re size power and do i keep the 2020 diesel or go with 2023 platinum thank much appreciated.

    • @703Speed
      @703Speed  Год назад +1

      If I were you, I'd get the 3.5 EcoBoost. I like the EcoBoost powertrain better than the PowerBoost. The EcoBoost is very powerful, decent on fuel, very torquey, and just a lot smoother than the PowerBoost in my opinion. When driving, the PowerBoost will shut off and turn on (like what hybrids do), but the turning on and turning off is just not seamless enough for me. For me personally, I like the 5.0. But, I recommended the EcoBoost to you because it's more powerful than the 5.0 and the same engine as the powerboost(minus the electric stuff).
      As for going from a diesel to an F150, I think you will be happy. It's more comfortable, easier to drive, easier to park, faster, the list goes on and on. I'd recommend you try the F150 - I think you'll like it more than your 350...

    @rustbeltrobclassic2512 Год назад +2

    I have one.. save your money, it's not worth the asking price..
    good: my 3.5 powerboost is a beast.. honestly best of both worlds, it's a rocket, and gets really good mpg.. on the highway it's comfortable, the 23 has better seating stuffing than the 21 or 22.. It's also been mechanically reliable..
    bad.. price.. it's expensive and the materials don't match with the sticker price.. The truck was plagued with rattles and creaks, the window trim whistled too.. the 10 speed.. there's a place in hell reserved for whoever programmed the normal setting on that transmission, it's jerky and it's not the trans itself, because it's fine in sport mode.. Infotainment.. it's crap, the sync 4 system is basically a freemium application, they allow free updates, if you allow them to record you and all vehicle data when you drive. the B&O system is still paper speakers, so you pay a premium for a 50watt amplifier and subwoofer.. even the tweeters are paper..
    Fix..
    I ripped my entire interior our and dyno lined the metal, in ripping out the interior i learned it was missing parts, insulation, and i found some cloth wedged in a door.. rag??? not sure.. but i completely redid the insulation, and purchased kicker KS series speakers, which blow the B&O out of the water.. the infotainment system you fix by rooting the system with Forscan and i am sure I'll find a tune for the transmission..
    verdict..
    my truck is nearly perfect now.. However, i'd never buy another one again.. rattled worse than the wrangler it replaced..

      What do you suggest I get?

    • @rustbeltrobclassic2512
      @rustbeltrobclassic2512 Год назад +3

      @@703Speed Right now? I would hold onto what you have , and not buy anything.. but if you have to buy a new truck, it's a crap shoot.. The Ram rides nice, has a nice interior and in most places has incentives under sticker, but get's horrible mpg, and the hemi has top end oiling issues, while the ecodiesel has carbon issues, and the v6 has camshaft and waterpump issues.. not to forget about the class action lawsuit due to a known no repair issue with the infotainment system. The Chevy is on a list of worst things you can buy, so even though they are nice looking i'd walk before i bought one of those.. The tundra is probably the best one you can buy, reliable, built well, but, the seats suck, they are narrow and uncomfortable on a long trip. The ford is a gamble too, while it's comfortable, it's built like crap, plagued with rattles, the infotainment is arguably the worst one i've ever used, and the 10 speed is programmed by morons.. To me, if i had to do it again, i'd wait till the prices or interest rates go back down, or i'd buy a low mileage 6 speed 5.0 2017 f150 platinum, with a warranty.. The sync 3 is imo the best infotainment system i've ever used, the 6 speed is made by aisin and is indestructible and works well, the 3rd gen 5.0 didn't have all the stupid electronics on it, also didn't have start stop junk, the only major issues with them are the active cooling shutters and the torque converters at high mileage.. that's what i would find and buy.. or.. if new.. and don't need full sized, i'd wait for the new tacoma.

    • @703Speed
      @703Speed  Год назад +2

      Everyone raves about the 15-17 150 w/5.0.. Looks like that's what I may get at some point. Interest rates too high right now.. I'll keep driving my 07' Ridgeline.. 225k on the clock and no car payment!@@rustbeltrobclassic2512

    I love this. If possible, I'd love to get this with the FX4 and black appearance packages of course, but also larger, thicker tread tires, offset a bit, aligned with body colored fender flares to give it a wider, almost raptor like appearance. I'd really want the massaging seats, which I assume come with the multi-contour seats, so I wonder if and when those chips will become available again. Leaning towards the Powerboost.

    • @703Speed
      @703Speed  Год назад +1

    • @Nate-zy5ce
      @Nate-zy5ce Год назад

      Sound great. Just not sure about which engine yet, 5.0, Powerboost or Ecoboost. The 5.0 would be wonderful, but so would the high mpg of the powerboost. Leveling would be good, I don't need a larger lift than what comes with that. I'd probably add body colored rain guards on the side windows too, if available. @@703Speed

    • @703Speed
      @703Speed  Год назад +1

      Hmm.. For me, if I was to keep the truck long term, I'd get the 5.0. Most simple powertrain, which is why I believe it would be the most reliable. I know the 5.0 comes with its fair share of problems, but I think the problems it has are a relatively easy fix. Just my $.02@@Nate-zy5ce

      @@703Speed Known issues: 5.0.. Cam phasers, ecu timing, flattened cam shafts in the 21+ , oil burning due to mis sized piston rings, oil burning due to teflon coated cylinder sleeves that were used instead of forged sleeves to save weight, cracking oil pans, engine knock, cylinder deactivation engine block heat related warping.
      3.5 eb: older versions had cam phaser issues, newer and older have turbo seal failure at high mileage.
      2.7 eb: turbo seal issues at high mileage
      3.5 PB: turbo seal high mileage, battery packs randomly bursting into flames..
      years:
      15-17 5.0 is the best
      15-17 avoid the 3.5
      15-17 2.7 is only OK
      18-20 2.7 is the best
      18-20 5.0 introduces start stop, 10 speed issues across the generation, and they removed forged internals.
      18-20 3.5 plagued with cam phaser issues, premature 10 speed failures due to high torque.
      21-23 3.5 PB rated worst engine option, however at least mine has been reliable so far..
      21-23 5.0 is no longer forged, has start stop, cylinder deactivation and cam phasers are now plastic lined and high failure rated.
      21-23 3.5 phasers are now forged, internals are forged, new turbo design, but seal design the same, imo probably the most likely to last a long time.
      2.7 new starter design to fix failure rate on start stop issues, new oil pump design, new forged internal design, new turbo seal design.
      sure there's more, but these are the most discussed on the forums..

      Amazing write up - thank you! Good to know.. Seems like Ford is investing pretty heavily into the Ecoboosts.. And not the 5.0.. Ugh.. If I have to get a new vehicle anytime soon it'll be a 17' 5.0.. But, even now, they're still pretty expensive.. @@rustbeltrobclassic2512

    I'm not sure the EB 3.5 gets better mileage than the 5.0 in real world daily driving. My 3.5 sits at 16 mpg on daily average and the two 5.0's I recently drove were reading 17.5 mpg. Further, the PB doesn't get better mileage at 80++ mph at all than a standard 3.5--and THAT is my highway speed I choose. I do feel the 3.5 EB drivers acceleration more effortlessly/less noise/rpms than the 5.0. It seems outright speed might be about the same--PB edging them out. YES--I WANT my truck to HAUL ASS. The wild card might be for me to get a 5.0 and add the FP700 Whipple supercharger which gives 700 HP. There's my "haul ass" for sure.
