- Showing my "Clear" run of the Death Road of Despair mini-game that occurs during Chapter 1 of Danganronpa V3. While it is canon to the story that you fail this, it actually is possible to complete. You'll view an alternate end and earn a couple rewards for doing so. After which, the story continues on as usual.

@Thonk Variety If this was a joke, please don't woosh me but: Pretty sure the original comment just meant that they defeated the minigame while playing as Kokichi, not that to win you have to be playing as Kokichi. Nobody in this thread said Ryoma was incapable of defeating it, just that he wasn't technically the one who did as he wasn't played as. Also the fact that when I see someone defeat this minigame, surprisingly enough it's always with Kokichi lmfao

It never occurred to me that this minigame was beatable.
That's the genius of this segment! Monokuma teases you with the idea that it's beatable, and in truth it actually is! (solely by technicality, I'd insist) But it's so extraordinarily difficult that most of the students decide it isn't worth the effort and try to just get along and find another way out even though they secretly know that this is the only exit they'll find in a LONG time; thus plunging them into despair.
It's a commentary on how we as a society would rather go on lying to ourselves because seeking the truth is far more difficult, and may not even turn out the way we expect it to. So, in other words, it's easier to pretend we accept each other than to genuinely accept each other, and we all agree the world would be better off this way despite not knowing exactly how much better the world would actually be.

Cool, and it doesn't actually spoil that one part of the game either. It leaves people to guess what might have been there. Is the world thrown into despair? Are they in the middle of outer space? Are they on the moon? Has Kaito fulfilled his lifelong dream? Is the world actually not in despair, and is just normal? (Based on Kaede's reaction, no). It is a good Easter Egg.
I mean if you've already played the other games you can already guess what's happened anyway

For anybody that may be interested, I have recreated the Death Road of Despair in Mario Maker 2. If you want to check it out, the code is HF8-P8K-Q0H. I did have to change things this here and there but I tried to make it as faithful as I could.

You can really tell Kodaka and Kotaro are friends and really drew inspiration from each other in regards to the danganronpa and zero escape franchises. In zero escape zero time dilemma the first scene is a coin toss and if you guess right you beat the game without knowing much of whats going on and here if you beat the minigame its the same thing. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying the idea was stolen what I'm saying is both parties have borrowed each others ideas before Kotaro admitted it in an interview I believe.
The only idea I don't like in zero escape was where you put a 3 prong converter on the plug when you can literally pluga 2 to a 3 in real life
