Nah man you're a legend. You literally saved my life right now. Thank you so much
your data 's safe?
Thanks I'll try to do this very informative video. 🎉
Huge help. Thank you.
Holy crap this worked! Thanks man!
i might ber %50 right or %50 wrong , in order to work this you need %99.999999 lucky even if you are %100 technically master
To not damage the hard drive?
Thank you, the video was informative. Would having a drive that is spinning when plugged in, but not showing up on the pc be the same issue. I have a WD passport external hard drive that is not showing up on anything that I am plugging it into. It was working a few days ago.
I PRAY that this works on my dead HD! You are AWESOME!
did it work??
@@Noname-di3yz Sadly .... NO!
finally one that speaks normally thanks this video was good
i have a seagate external that fell off the top pf my computer case to the floor, after that incident i get zilch from the computer about him. i hear spinning when drive is (re)inserted into usb some clicking like heads are trying to position kind of clicking and then motors shut down
Mine suddenly shows the requirement to Initialize when attaching via the sata cable. Seemingly attaching it also causes the system unstable. Windows cant detect the HDD via the HDD box. Can I try this method?
Did the same step as you suggested. Still the clicking sound continues, and drive not detected. Help please
would this work if my hard drive is making a clicking noise? ive got a couple forums saying theres no recovery for it.
Dear Cars And Cameras! I have a Toshiba external HDD, but it sounds like it doesn't spin at all. I'm just wondering - may I try to disassamble just like you in this video? I'm looking forward to your answer!
Try it bro I will be doing the same
Load error Hdd Motor
wow, i cant believe it actually worked!
does this method will also remove the bad sectors and repair the drive?
Am going to try this.
I will try this today. I had a power glitch and the drive start making the clicking sound. If I get it to work again. Does that mean the drive is damage and I should move all the files to another drive. Or the arm stuck is mostly cause by the power glitch and I should continue to use it. Guess I need to run a drive integrity software to check the drive huh.
I have a question my laptop hard disk is damaged and it doesn't work at all i can't a new latop is there any way to fix this so i can use this in future
hey if i get no sound at all from the hdd sata hdd. its the bigger one i dont know what the technical term for it is but its not a laptop size hdd it was an external 4 Tb drive Baracuda. anyways i hear nothing when i put it in the docking station. could it be as simple as the pcb that needs to be replaced. i dont want to have to open it up if i can avoid that. if there is no sound at all no humming nothing does anybody think its just the pcb on the drive? any help would be appreciated.
my external Hdd not see after plug in ? how to fix even i changed the usb wire and update deiver .
My hard drive doesn't show in bios setup and not sound coming in hard drive. So can i recovered data from hard drive ?
yes
Quoted 600 euro to recover 3TB Toshiba portable drive. Mechanical failure, do I have any hope with this method?
Hi i am from India I have one hard disk which is clicking sound getting from it and not reading while connecting to the computer. i have whole life memory there please let me know how to recover
Can I use the butt of the header to push it right while rotating the disc? if you look behind the shell with 2 blue dots, the neck of the head got a butt.should be pretty safe to touch there, no?
They read with a needle not a laser so no matter where you touch it it wouldnt damage the disk
hey do you any good tool kitsto do something like this?
Hi i have problem with my hard disk when i turn on my pc it shows a read eror hard disk ouccured what should i do?
what is that you inserted ?
Does this fix work in my case as looking similar and I am hearing beeping sound from hardisk error and this is my error (boot device not found please install an operating system on your hard disk (3f0))
Same of mine
Verify boot sequence, bcd/gpt/mbr first if possible. This is a last resort and not a good permanent fix.
How can I recover the files and data from a corrupted external hard drive disk ?
Does this work only for specific sized drives?? My drives are from 2017 and are bigger or thicker
It can work on any drive as long as its not a SSD
Thank you!!!!!!!
Nice
I am going to try this. The thought scares me shitless, but at this point I'm out of options.
Did it work?
@@rubas3310 didn't try it.
Thanks
My 3 year old daughter walked over my laptop which led to hard drive damage. Can I retrive my data from the hard drive? Which agency will be helpful in doing this. Kindly suggest.
What does age have to do with anything.
What adapter did you use to connect the hard drive to the pc?
This one. www.amazon.com/Drive-Adapter-Cable-Support-Black/dp/B07S9CKV7X/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=Hard+drive+to+usb&qid=1596587362&sr=8-3
External hard disc connector
Mine needle not stuck , picked by computer but won't let me see files.
Is there another way to recover it ? Thanks.
If disk is appearing in file explorer. You can easily recover any formated/cleaned/deleted/Existing data using a command line tool called Test Disk.
1:10 I can see two specks of dust at approximately 1 o'clock about 1/4" from the hub, when you hit them you'll probably get a crash.
You might have been better off tapping it on the lower right corner.
Let us know how many errors turn up.
I successfully removed all the data and no errors on the drive.
@@carsandcamera Whew! 😅
hey, if anyone is trying to do this its very risky. if one s p e c of dust lands on the hdd when you open it up, its fucked. as another comment said it really is up to chance no matter how tech savvy or technologically advanced you are. so ofcourse do this at your own discretion
what do i do if the "head" (what you called it idk what its named) is broken and i have a 2nd hdd where the head is fixed? is it possible to switch it, if yes can you do a tutuorial please
What you would do is a platter swap. Now this is very involved so take a look at this www.wikihow.com/Swap-Hard-Disk-Drive-Platters also when doing the swap the hardest part is finding the replacement drive as not only does it need to be the exact one because the defective one but it has to have the exact same firmware. And not having the exact same firmware it will not work as they have to be exactly the same. This is why I never made a video on doing this as finding the same hard drive with same firmware is like finding a needle in a haystack. Doing this job is very involved and what I provide here is for hobby and entertainment purposes only
@@carsandcamera okay thanks
don't you need a torque wrench to do that???
Clicking sounds. My hard drive just went down it tries to spin up then makes an odd noise and stops trying to run. I lost everything I deem as important and for some reason, my backups are missing the important directories. I will not let this happen again. I was thinking of trying to remove the platter and drop it in another drive, but, if this sound means the heads are just stuck as you demonstrated, I might be able to get it running long enough to grab the data. Something I find interesting just happened. I have hot disk turned on in bios so I can add and remove drives while my PC is running. So I opened Fdisk plugged in the drive and it saw it and it said it's not initialized. This tells me the circuit board is working and that the motor is not spinning up the platter. I think there could be 2 reasons the motor is dead or the heads are stuck, right? If the motor was dead, it wouldn't try and spin at all, but it does and it makes a beeping noise. I think I might stand a chance at recovering the data in the way you just demonstrated. what do you think?
Your heads may have clamped down on your platters if you notice these warning signs:
Weak, regular beeping noises. Beeping is one of the most common signs of damaged read/write heads preventing a hard drive from spinning up.
@@carsandcamera It just all of a sudden made that beeping sound when I restarted the computer as soon as I heard it I shut down and removed it. I then tried it using my recovery data cables with windows running and windows kinda sees rather fdisk sees it but says it's not initialized it's not like any other hard drive failure I've ever experienced. I think it's probably worth a shot taking the cover off and trying to recover the data what do you think?
@@KoolBreeze420 Did it work ?
I have similar problem with my HD. It is showing not initialized but its running and making rythmic noise.
Before It became dead, It was working properly for months even after making this sound but I was not aware about it and one day it started to show disk is not initialized and its capacity is 0 bytes.
save my life!!
good
There can be recovery in the truth.?
It'll work for ps4 slime??
👌🏻
Please help ive lost 10 years of data and photos on my drive. No one will touch it.
You need to keep checking there are people out there that are very successful with recovering data. Search "hard drive recovery service"
I will admit i open the drive to see whats wrong. The arm was stuck on the platter but not moving. Long story short I tried a few of my own fixes😮 then tried to send it away. They sent it back saying it was too badly damaged. I even bogan identical seagate thinking i could just swap disc to just get my data i failed miserably.@carsandcamera
oh ho booyy.
would this work on ssd drives too?
An SSD has no moving parts, so no.
hahaha ...
I was quoted $400 - $2500 to repair the drive enough to get the pictures off it. Smh
That’s why I created this video to help them do it themselves
Can you fix this actuator moving issue? ruclips.net/video/XXm8DPTD61I/видео.html
Do not do this, I followed this video and lost everything, computer shops will not touch the hard drive if it's been opened as it has to be in a dust free environment, don't do it or you will regret it like I did.
I find a lot holes in your story. Did you listen to what he says at the beginning (I’m not a hard drive technician do this at your own risk) and when you opened the drive was the arm sitting on the platters as in his example. This trick will only work if the arm is stuck on the platters. And then it’s dependent on if the arm is possibly damaged. And he warns you that this should be done in a clean room. Then if you were thinking of using a data recovery service that could run in the four figures why would risk your valuable data to youtube video. I see big holes in your story. I have opened a hard drive that are old and left them open to see how long they wii last applying read and writes to it. It was fun watching the heads race back and fourth and the drive continued to work. His video has over 500 likes so it must be working and then comes my final thoughts. You lost everything? Silly you didn’t have your data backed up. Hard drives are cheap and you didn’t have your data backed up. As I said big holes in your story
Why would you want to recover data from a dead hard drive? ... Smash the drive with a hammer, to protect the data, and simply use one of your BACKUPS!
You DID backup, right? ... If not, you DESERVE to lose your data! 🤣
