@@marekm9568 It is true that more and more MMOs are somewhat P2W. You can buy gold in WoW and use this gold to get carries, pay for gems in GW2 and turn the gems into gold and buy carries and so on. My main MMO is GW2 and used to play a ton of WoW!

I think we need to start thinking of how much we like playing games without spending money. just because the option is there does not mean we have to use it. The question becomes - if I dont use it, will i feel the impact of other players who do. Because while most people do spend money on p2w when it exist, games like lost ark still thrive because the playerbase doesn't feel the negative affects from other players getting more power.
If i like this game, even after the campaign, and i engage with the end-game without spending money on power, and there's no credit card warriors ruining my experience. At that point, i dont care if those p2w mechanics exist because im still able to have fun and i can buy cosmetics to support them.

The issue lies with the individual, fear of missing out or fear of not leading the pack. Game looks beautiful from what I just saw and I'm downloading it now. Also this comes from someone who has spent thousands over the years playing BDO. It's not worth it

I'm not entirely sure what you can get with Lucent in this game other than buying items from Auction house sold by other players. If that is the only thing, then I wouldn't necessary talk about strictly p2w as everything sold there has been acquired playing the game. And you can get Lucent same way yourself. Farm the dungeons and sell items in Auction house for Lucent and buy the items you need for your characters. That being said, if they start selling something which you can't acquire from the game, giving you competitive edge over other players. That will turn game to p2w. Besides everyone defines p2w differently in the head. I mean one could argue that Guild Wars 2 is p2w game as there are so many thing sold in the gemshop which makes game sort of easier. And if you don't have money to buy gems, you need to farm gold to turn gold into gems. And that will take that gold out of something else you would need to buy with that gold ingame. That being said none of the items in GW2 gemshop aren't giving competitive edge over other players. They are more like convenience items like unlimited gathering tools, bank tabs and so on. And for me I wouldn't say that it is p2w.
But I have seen games where items sold straight gives you extra buff for your character and you cant acquire premium currency by playing the game and you can't get same buffs by playing the game.
Game itself seemed enjoyable and seems that there will be lot to do after you get to level 50. Also I noticed from leveling log that there was actually entry for lvl 51 stating coming soon so maybe some teaser that there will be level cap increase in the future. I will be playing the game for sure as there will be also plenty of people from my gaming group.
Oh and of course you can battlepass and leveling log pass with Lucent. They will give extra loot but so does battlepasses in many other games as well. And game is free to play so it is not like it will cost you anything to play the game. And after playing the full game, if it still feels like too much p2w, then move on to next game or stay with the old like Guild Wars 2 for me.

A lot of QOL is coming to the game next week that will be in the global launch. Many changes that allow you to customize how your abilities work such as things that change something from charge to cast to instant cast or cast while moving on those same abilities. So, combat will become more dynamic than it already is now. Again, another game where the Dev's are actively listening to feedback and making changes. This is something AGS is sorta good at, but NCSoft and Arenanet with GW2 excel at this already so I expect to see more of these changes inspired by player feedback coming to the game. The new game director seems especially receptive to what players are asking for and removing reasons bots can exist and making things less p2w though the p2w aspect here is even less than GuildWars2 so I'm not sure why the vitriol about p2w here at all. Sure, you can buy a weapon if it was on the AH, but everything we find that could be on the AH we send to our guild AH to gear our people first. Second priority are for lithographs, third priority dissolving for crafting mats, then if it's truly worthless it'll go to the AH and only if it had never been upgraded so you'll get a level 0 weapon with no upgrades or traits.

I really like the game. I feel the same way about p2w. But honestly, after playing it, it might not be too bad. The PVP is so gated around events and time of day, I think the rush to get fully geared might not impact casual guilds.
At some point we will all catch up to these guilds and they will only control the events the first few months. We might even see alliances between guilds just to stop the swipers buying their upgrades.
Your spot on about the combat, could have been better. I'd rather play on a controller but sadly keyboard and mouse are superior.
    Anyhow thanks for your video.

Rocko: "I will always support a good product"
Also Rocko: "Unless the good product has monetization I don't like"
    🤪
The era of quality MMO's for a box price, subscription and expansion costs has not been successful for a very long time unfortunately. These days to get even remotely good quality, the game needs to be spearheaded by a studio with existing funding from previous projects or a niche scenario like Amazon game studios trying to create a gaming division. Studios can't get investors to support their non-mobile, gaming ventures because they are too risky.
So unfortunately pay2win will be the most effective avenue for most investors.. I think maybe we got 2 more chances of hope - the Riot MMO since they don't need the investor capital sales pitch and maybe the Amazon Game Studios, Lord of the Rings game - those games are basically fully funded which will feature new engine tech and full time developers on payroll not worried about their job security to create solid gameplay...
I think AOC is gonna be a flop, the tech behind it is 10 years old, too many unknowns by the time it comes out there will be competing offerings.

Yeah... AoC has been something on my radar for a while now. I've seen good improvements every showcase but I have a feeling it's not going to make it.
Riot are back to the drawing table..
Fantastic Pixel Castle (old blizz devs ++) are making something atm but no news yet..
This is the golden age of ARPG nowadays, maybe it'll be MMO in the future!
