Cyberpunk had some of the best music of any game I've ever played, thanks for making this cover of a song that they didn't even seem to finish in the game itself!
I know right?? It's such a good riff, I couldn't believe there wasn't a 'full version' somewhere and I just had to do something with it! Thanks for checking it out :D
Thank you for checking it out!! :D :D It's actually a term from the original Cyberpunk 2020 TTRPG, it was the name of the genre of futuristic metal that rockerboys like Johnny Silverhand play. Also abbreviated to 'chromer rock/metal' - there's nothing especially chromatic about this in a musicology sense though XD
Huh, interesting! It could very well have been, I played a bit of Shadowrun as well as CP2020 back in the day, although my main game was always D&D... there are entries for Chromer/Chromatic Metal/Rock on both the Shadowrun Wiki and the Cyberpunk wiki, so you might be right, I honestly can't remember 100%
i may be wrong but the term definitely is around for at least 20 years, might go back even further to the original books on cyberpunkbut i know that it was metjnioned in shadowrun a whiiile ago XD also i just love shadowrun as setting. its a bit like d&d in a cyberpunk setting, you got all the fantasy elements an all the technology elements combined
Hmm, I sang in a metal band for like 8 years...I've been focusing on instrumental stuff lately, it's kinda easier to record everything late at night without waking everyone up compared to recording singing XD Still maybe I could try a version with lyrics...?
Well I wrote some lines few days back. It's still kinda incomplete. It has start the riot. Tried to keep corporate greed plot just as Johnny Silverhand was against in the franchise.
Thank you! Honestly the Refused riff is so kickass as a starting point that writing most of the rest of this flowed pretty easily from that, but I'm really happy with how it turned out :D
Really?? Archangel is officially released? If so that means I can release this on Spotify etc as a proper cover! That's great news!! And thank you so much for that huge compliment 🤘🤘
Thanks! It's not actually a musical term & I didn't come up with it or anything, it's the name for the type of music played by rock bands in the Cyberpunk game/TTRPG, also called 'Chromer Rock' 🤘😝🤘
If nothing else, this total bummer of a game has brought the world some fantastic original music, and some even more fantastic covers. This is fucking tasty, insta-subbed, cannot wait to see your other work!
Thank you so much, really glad you like it!! Guilty secret is that I'm yet to even play the game - hopefully by the time I can afford a PC that can run it properly, they will have fixed all the bugs XD I actually have a version of this with lyrics and vocals almost ready to go, just need to find time to get it finished, make a video and get it out :D
@htdrednaxela96 I bought PL and started a new playthrough, but decided to wait until I can afford to upgrade my GPU to see this beautiful game in its full glory. My poor old GTX1650 is struggling a bit 😅 Unfortunately I was just laid off from my job so I've no idea when I'll get to actually do that, but for an experience of this calibre I'm willing to wait.
Dude!! Thank you! Gotta have a little bit of that 80s glam metal vibe, but played through a futuristic mindset. Really happy if you feel like I captured it, thanks for the comment :D
@@Drewcif3r Doesn't sound glam to me, this is much harder, sharper, heavier etc. than glam. Best/worst case scenario (depends on who you ask), it flirts a bit with glam but that's it.
@@AssassinT10 I agree! To me the 'cyberpunk' vibe is more flirting with it as you said, it's almost reminiscent of it. To me Cyberpunk is hugely about meeting decay and disillusion with rebellion and burning as bright as you can on the way down, so musically I wanted the track to almost reference the loss of that 'hair metal' idealism but retain an echo of it. But the typical grimness of a cyberpunk future they'd end up with a heavier and more 'modern' overall sound, I think, so I'm glad you heard this in it! :D
Thank you!! I don't actually play drums, I have to program them using MIDI and an old Roland RS5 keyboard, so I'm always really happy when someone says the drums sound good 🤘😁🤘
I had no doubt this'd be awesome by how it started but honestly was worried the feel of the tune might change when the existing part stopped and the improv started. This was one of those very happy "you're wrong" moments \m/

Thank you very much for asking! Unfortunately, it's not available for purchase at the moment - it was originally in a weird place WRT copyright because it was a 'rework' of a track that was owned by CDPR but never released - I could upload it to RUclips but I couldn't register it as a single or officially release it. They've changed that situation by actually releasing the track, and I've released the vocal version (ruclips.net/video/xvzMnlMEYEk/видео.html) on Spotify/iTunes etc, if that helps?
