An 80's classic from German rock band The Scorpions, this song was written to mark the fall of the Berlin Wall & the collapse of the Soviet Union. Gorky Park is in Moscow.
    Great song/reaction.

It is a band from Hannover in Germany - i am very sure, i am german.
A little interesting thing it wasn't written for or because of the fall of the Berlin-Wall. It was about watching the USSR changing from the inside and seeing all the hopes for peace in the world.
I think they played in moscow as one of the first western bands ever and this experience was the inspiration for this song.
I found that they were playing the "Moscow Music Peace Festival" on august,13th in 1989 and Klaus Meine wrote the song in september - two month before the wall came down.

This song, your reaction... I was 19 or 20 as a young private in the U.S. Army stationed in Mainz, Germany. I watched the Berlin wall coming down. It was truly a "Wind of change". Since then it's been nearly 30years. I look back at the time and all that's past. I still remember it like yesterday. Thank you for bringing me back and keeping it real. I see the passion of music every time I watch your channel. Keep up the great work.

I was stationed in Pirmasens Germany at that time and it was wild. First Solidarity in Poland pushes thru elections, then Hungry opened it's border to Austria and people started pouring over the border from the East. Then the protests start in East Germany. Nobody knew what was going to happen. Were the Soviets were going roll tanks and try to crush the protests like they did in the '50's and 60's? The whole European command was put on heightened alert and when the stuff started in East Germany, we were told to stay out of sight and on base. It was scary because if the Soviets did roll to stop all this, how were we going to react? It could be WW3. Then overnight the wall came down and the whole eastern block came apart. 50 years of status quo Cold War was suddenly over. It was just surreal. Glad I was there to see it up close.

Don't listen to what they say about the 80's.....the whole US voted for Reagan and he was tough, but he wanted peace. We had a whole decade of peace and prosperity and there was great unity and optimism for the future. It was an amazing time to be young then....I wish you would have been there! The music of the time reflects this optimism.

And they were listening to 70’s and then 80’s so I had many many exposure to 70 and 80’s music and it was all good. But the 80’s US was United, and we seemed to be happy. Regardless of if we were struggling or things in life was hard like everyday life.. we were happy and it was a fun time!

It's funny the ppl that actually get things done and better the world some how some way someone finds a tape from when they were 15yrs old or 20 yrs before anything relevant and slanders them w it. Almost like they know certain puppets will lap it up like the puppets they are. Feels very similar to today actually.

mate your stunned how do you think we felt , i lived my whole life under the threat that judgment day was an actual reality , and shit did it come close a few times more than you will ever know as a civilian , i was even slated to join the army and a few months before the world woke up one day and the berlin wall was being literally being hacked to pieces by thousands of civilians with everything from hand tools to heavy machinery massive slabs of the wall fell , it was over .
in one night due to a miscommunication and the soviets insane debt ( most of the army had not been paid for dozens of months didnt matter poverty was so bad even if you had the money for food there probably wasnt any in the shops ) when the miscommunication was announced civilians immediately went to tare the wall down and cross the border , the soviet ( east german )commander at the border didnt have a clue what was going on and in the end went fuck it they dont pay me enough for this shit ,,,,,,,, or at all for that matter , so he didnt really do anything and shortly after the soviet union collapsed to the russia you know today , just like that in one night man crazy times haha .
if youtube bees a dick and boots you man please try to find me again i like this ride we are on , i kinda feel like im getting to share some really cool secret to someone for the first time , im glad your enjoying this adventure

This is one of those really positive songs that is full of hope and the beginning of actual Freedom. The fall of the Berlin wall and the re-unification of Germany. Families, friends, and long time neighbours that had been separated for so long even though they only lived a block apart, by one massive Wall, could finally see them again. It was a very touching moment in their history. When It came to the fall of the wall, Civilians and Soldiers alike on both sides smashed it down and felt true freedom and rejoiced once more for the first time in several decades.

The Scorpions are fantastic, one of the best things ever from Germany along with beer and pretzels lol. Try"the zoo","still loving you","no one like you","rockin like a hurricane" to name a few more classics by them ☮️

This song was done around the time that the cold war ended and the fall of the Soviet Union. BIG change indeed. This song always touches me. Being born in 1962m I grew up through the cold war. I served in the navy in the eighties. The idea that the Soviet Union would ever collapse and that the cold war would end never even occurred to me as something possible. So many millions of people were freed from oppression, yet the tidal wave of change came so suddenly that it was a little frightening.

This Song is a monument of his decade. It´s remind us that everything changing, all time. Dont look back. Let you blow straight to the future, to the change. To a world that is so closing in, where a we all stay together like brothers. Sorry, but in this world is no space for america first. This world is so small an we all only one and the same humankind.

Man, I sure am enjoying your reaction videos! That you can do these videos, and reveal everything that you're feeling inside, that takes a lot of confidence and strength. It takes a lot of courage to open yourself up share these videos. It is so cool to see how much these songs really speak to you. Your facial expressions, your body language, etc. say so much. I really look forward to your next videos, and I just want to say thanks for doing these!

I myself am too young to have ever witnessed the Cold War or the Fall of the Berlin Wall. For me this is emotional because I am German and I love history. When you know about what happened back then and see the video you just get goosebumps and feel emotional. It must have been amazing to see the Cold War end.
