You are the Child of tomorrow that he sings to and the Wind of Change brought you a new world, a new life. Don't be to harsh on your judgement of this song. It was written and sung for the lovely people of Russia, "Let your Balalaika sing..."
I was stationed in West Germany from 1989 to 1992 with 3rd Armored Division as an Army Aviator. This song still brings tears to my eyes remembering the end of the Cold War and listening to this song. Seeing families reunited after many years of separation. And finally the Russian people being free. I hope you enjoyed this song. It was such a historic and emotional time in the world history.
when the berlin wall fell and germany become one reunited state and the russian federation fell apart that was a most glorious time. we were very fortunate to be there in history to witness it. literally overnight the world changed. btw.....thank you for your service to our nation. we owe all veterans deepest respect. U.S.A. U.S.A U.S.A U.S.A !!!!
@user-ip3hg5vm9d You can thank the KGB agent and dictator PUTIN for this. Overthrow this communist tyrant and you will begin to see freedom in Russia. I am Russian, my wife is from Russia and I have family still in Russia. Get rid of this tyrant. We all agree! God bless!
I was with 4/32 AR , 3rd AD. Tanker. Absolutely thrilled when the wall came down, thrilled that those behind it had a chance to be free, to choose their own lives. I've never had anything against them, and wish the best for them.
I was also stationed in Germany from 1987 to 1992 with the 3rd Armored Division in Frankfurt. It was a special time in history to be there but sadly it just seems that the world is taking 15 steps backwards!! Spearhead
Funny enough, it was a gig in Russia that inspired this song. They played the Moscow Music Peace Festival in front of 300,000 people, and were moved by the friendly reception they got being a band out of West Germany. Hence the first line being about walking down the Moskva River to Gorky Park. It was written a few months before the fall of the Berlin Wall, so they got tied together when it was released. To me, this song is more about reconciliation and hope for a peaceful future as we focus more on what we have in common and focus less on where we're different. I dare say we could all use some of that hope for peace right now. Also, I just love the lead guitar tones that this band uses. Having played in multiple rock bands in the past, I'm always curious to see how you react to the genre of music. Sorry you've had to deal with people being nasty to you in the comments based on the country you are from. You've always come across as nice to me at least lol.
It's very likely the song lyrics were written by the CIA, its a very interesting story and worth reading about. While the deatails are still classified, if it's the case, it does appear to be a psy op meant at influencing soviet youth in the moments after the Berlin wall fell.
I was was a us military MP in Germany when the wall came down. It happened so fast over night. I fell in love with Europe and the many beautiful souls I met. I am forever changed for the better. I started guitar at 14 and wanted to play scorpions and see them live. Every time they gave it 100 percent. One great song is "there's no one like you" well I say there's no one like them!
This came from the time just before the collapse of the Soviet Union. The Berlin Wall had just come down, Germany was a newly reunited nation, and, that same spark was spreading all throughout Eastern Europe. It's one of those historical eras I am glad I was around for.
@@dalehammers4425well.. its a bit complicated, the idea to the song predates the fall of the wall, with about 2 month, but the actual song was mostly composed and fully recorded after the fall of the wall. Its possible that there was changes along the way
Being Russian is not a crime. It’s almost sad to hear this song these days because it reminds us that at one point we had our shit together as humans. Hopefully one day we will again before it’s too late. Much love to you from the USA. ❤ -Edit: Read your channel description and realized it looks like you’re living in the US. Doesn’t change what I said though!
It is sad. I’m a Cold War era kid and this song was the main song that had us all feeling like the world was truly going to be a better place at the time. We had so much hope.
All people are important and should be loved, the Russian people in general are the same as we are. It’s the leadership in the world controlled by power and money, that is the problem.
This song is not directed at you. You understand the message. You are a child of tomorrow. You are a possibility of change. That's what the song is about. 🤘 You rock.
The Scorpions were a West German rock group... when there were two Germanies... This song at its core is a celebration of the unification of Germany. But it also speaks for conflict all over the world. Many of the military images in the video are in fact American military, protesters in Tiananmen square in China, Palestinians, Africans, and yes eastern Europeans under the old Soviet era. All of us who grew up in the 80's can understand the feelings you have watching this video because of the current situation. Young people in the late 80's and early 90's in that titanic cultural change had many of the same feelings you are having now. But this song is a song of hope, reconciliation, and how young people can change the world. Peace be with you. Love will win in the end.
For all the change that was happening at the start of the 1990's that gave people hope in the end we are in many ways back to where we were in the 80's Russia has become aggressive again against it's neighbors and is run by a thug China crushed the protesters in Tiananmen square and is still ruled by the communists and the middle east is a quagmire but even more so now. The more things change the more they stay the same.
the song was composed and written before the wall fell. They were a West German Band, singing in Russia before the end of the USSR. In essence, you could argue that They were predicting the fall of the wall.
I just saw a Polish girl reacting to this amazing song ! Completely different reaction this Polish girl finished crying ! Wind of change will take decades to arrived to Russia . Maybe never ! So not surprise this Russia Girl reaction! Long live to Freedom
I am old enough to remember having nuclear attack drills in school and getting under our desks. This song is about the most hopeful moment in human history, when the Berlin Wall came down and we thought the risk of nuclear annhiliation was over. This is more than a song to most of us older folks, it is like an anthem to world peace.
Yes, we were instructed to put our heads between our legs while sitting cross legged. Our sarcastic selves joked that we were kissing our asses goodby. Even at 9 years old we knew there was no surviving a nuclear attack.
So Sad!!! I cant stop thinking of what went wrong, since that time. I dont can imagine what its like to hear that for you. I am just hoping that their is a time in future were we all realizing that we all are brothers and sisters. Best wishes from Germany!
I like Russia and Russians so much! This song is so very strong! I has heared the first openig in 1990! Today... after 30 years i must crying every times! The feelings from 1990 are so strong, the feelings of freedom and changing! But what we make from this today? The same situation how 1990 - only badder!
I'm Irish and i spent a month in St Petersburg in 1991 and loved it, i loved Russia. I love the Russian people. You dont have to defend yourself, you are a beautiful human. This song is about unity with the fall of the Berlin wall etc. Its not anti-Russian its pro-unity. Much love from ireland and keep being you.❤
I know it's anecdotal, but when I visited Russia back in 2011, I can't tell you how tremendous the Russian people were to us. Governments and dictators are NOT the people. Since that time, I've felt a deep sense of empathy for the people of Russia, and all others suffering under the hand of autocracy. Wonderful reaction.
I don't know, if you read this. Klaus Meine (singer of Scorpions - a band based in Hannover germany) wrote that song as the west-german son of a german WW2 soldier while the band was invited, with other west-bands into the ussr at the late 80's. Must be 1989. He said, that it was a special feeling as a german, what the american bands couldn't understand. What a signal for peace to invide a german group to the sovjet union at that time. Also you can see the raise and fall of the Berlin wall in that video. A special moment for all germans back in the days. I was a 7 years old west-german at that moment and I can remember how awsome it was.
Mr Gorbachev tear down this wall. And he did. What a remarkable Soviet leader. Thanks to him its no longer East Germany and West Germany, just Germany. So SMILE.
That was a time there were some very wise and caring political leaders in power. Especialy MR Grobatschow and Bush Sr. Those understood the true worth of peace. Sadly now days to many ...
To say every Russian is/was a Communist is like saying every German was a Nazi or every American is a Republican. You are you first and foremost. You are human THEN you are Irina THEN you are Russian. You are not responsible for the decisions a government takes that presides over a nation you just happened to be born in. You could have been born anywhere. The important thing is that you were and we are blessed to be able to share your feelings and your opinions. Thank you for being you.
I was a teenager still in school the night people from both sides of the Wall climbed on top. I remember eating dinner as a family that night watching these amazing pictures on TV. In a way, this song is an anthem for Gen-X. We had such hope when the wall fell, when the hardliners coup against Gorbachev failed. We thought there was a chance. And then we watched as that hope evaporated before our eyes. I believe this is a big part of what makes my generation the world over so cynical. But do not worry about being Russian. One doesn’t choose where one is born. One only chooses how to live your life. Anyone who judges you just for where you were born - that person is the one who carries the sin. Not you.
We are all human. When we realize that all of us are God's children will it stop. I also believe by doing what you are with your channel. It brings us all closer together. I'm an American, and I have never met a Russian that I didn't like. We need to focus on harmony, not war. May God bless you and yours and keep the good work moving forward.
I am American, you have absolutely nothing to apologize about - nothing, nothing, nothing. Funny how actual people in the various countries can get along so well, and yet governments can cause so many problems. Smile and don't apologize any more. :)
You can't imagine what the song means for us East Germans. But that's okay too. And no matter what's going on out there, it's nice that you deal with it. I think a lot of people only think of the Berlin Wall, but there was so much more and I'll put it this way. How long will those who can tell this story be around? So ask us: Damn it, if we don't want this to happen again;
My wife was from Russia originally until the fall of the Soviet Union and she likes this song. Remembering and knowing history no matter how you feel is important so we don’t repeat the bad.
I was 19 years old when this song was released. I remember that time so clearly. It was the end of the Cold War and I had so much hope. I think the world had so much hope that the future would be better with the prospect of peace between the East and West. In the following decades I'm afraid we squandered that opportunity for peace, both sides. Now my oldest son is 20 and facing the prospect of war. I know history and the reality of armed conflict, but I pray we can learn from the past. Thank you for your honest reaction to this song. I think for peace we must continue to try to understand one another.
In 1983 I was a young soldier in the US Army 2nd Armored Cavalry Squadron. My unit was on the Czech border and we were face to face across the border from Russian Units. It was the height of the cold war. We all knew if it turned into a hot war our life expectancy was less than 15 minutes. 6 years later back stateside, I like millions of others watched on TV as the soviet empire collapsed, the Berlin wall came down and Germany which has been separated since the fall of the Third Reich was unified..For me this song has deep meaning. It meant that my friends in the US Army stationed in Germany were no longer 15 minutes away from being snuffed out like a candle. - This song became an emotional anthem to the triumph of peace over war, albeit a somewhat hollow one. Suddenly millions of people came to believe that in any conflict hearts and minds could force peace to prevail over aggression. 30 years later with Russia and Ukraine involved in a hot shooting war reality is once again revealed. Evil can never be overcome by peace it must be defeated with war. Sad and tragic but undeniably true. - Nonetheless this song shall always be a reminder that life is cyclical. War and peace are simply part of human existence. Those who don't remember well the past are condemned to relive it
When the soviet union collapsed, the western world thought russia would become a democratic country, a full member of society, but less than 25 years later they showed themselves for what they have always been, and 30 years later the whole world saw it. Even the Scorps refuse to sing this song with the words "moskva" and "Horkiy park". Everyone can see how they are destroying cities and killing people, just because they don't want to become their vassals. Russia must disappear, and people should never accept into society what is left of it.
I wish you had some back story before watching this. This is a song a change, good change, the end of the Cold War, the tearing down of the Berlin Wall. The Scorpions are from Germany this had to affect them so much also. ❤
The point of this amazing song couldn’t have been any more missed here! Heads up…there’s nothing wrong with being Russian! Our leaders are setting an agenda to unwind all the progress that has been made since this song was created! YOU ARE LITERALLY THE ‘CHILDREN OF THE TOMORROW’ BEING REFERENCED IN THIS SONG! YOU’RE BEAUTIFUL AND HAVE NOTHING TO HIDE FROM OR APOLOGIZE FOR! YOU ARE THE PRIME EXAMPLE OF THE PROGRESS MADE BECAUSE GOOD PEOPLE FORCED OUR LEADERS TO END THE COLD WAR AND NOW BAD LEADERS ARE TRYING TO BRING IT BACK!!! I urge you to listen again, and realize they’re talking about you and millions of others specifically!!! ❤
Hey, Irina This song is basically about the fall of the Berlin Wall and Communism in Russia as a whole, which was viewed as "The Winds Of Change" the lead to the reunifying of East and West Germany into one country and the Soviet Union becoming the commonwealth of independent states
This is not a war song, it's the exact opposite. It was about ending the cold war and trying to bring people together for a change. Sadly it didn't last long.
I'm sorry for the hate... much love to you and never lose your spark. It's all in the heart and yours is beautiful! Stay courageous and keep being you!
Some of the best ballads in history have been written by hard rock bands. People ask me what I mean by that and this is one of the first songs I point them to. If you were alive at the time it is impossible not to get emotional when hearing this. It captured the feeling of the entire world. This is a song of peace ... the end of the cold war ... the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Coming from a place of love, I feel I need to say to you that so is this song. It’s not blaming you nor anyone. This was a song of hopeful joy, not sadness or loss. It was the fall of the Soviet Union and the reunification of Germany. It was…is…a song of love. And it is meant to have a reaction of love.
Hmm. I really love that song, as a german. But it makes me sad, to watch YOU... fighting against crying. My deepest respect, to stand this video online.
По нaбережной Москвы иду к пaрку Горького, слушaю я ветер перемен. Летняя ночь августa, мимо идут солдaты, слушaю я ветер перемен. Мир смыкaется, думaли ли вы, мы стaнем близкими, кaк брaтья. Воздух нaполнен будущим, и чувствуется везде Ветер, ветер перемен Верни меня, верни в момент той ночи славной, когда дети грядущего мечтают. ветер перемен... Иду по улице, дaвние воспоминaния зaковaны в прошлом.
Thank you for reacting to this song. This song helped define a moment in time for an entire generation. It gave us hope for a better future…one where we all may be as close as brothers. Keep on being yourself…we all love your honesty. These are terrifying times we live in…terrible for everyone. The song itself is beautiful and helps give all of us hope…take comfort in that. Keep the reactions coming…keep being yourself. Lots of love from Canada 🇨🇦
There was so much hope back then, for a short time we thought the world could be changed. Berlin was magical during this time, crazy and open and full of energy. I wish our hopes had been confirmed. Unfortunately, we all have to keep trying with hope. Thank you for reacting. Peace and Love from Germany
This song is about peace, and hope for a better future for everyone. I saw this wall as a child. Watching it come down was an inspiration that peace was beginning for so many people.
Yes, this is a song about love and understanding and I understand you. I am American and neither one of us is to blame for the decisions our governments make. The average citizen is typically caught in the middle of the decisions the powers that be make until we truly all get together and get involved as one world. The internet can be the bridge between us all. We can be close like brothers and sisters as he says in this song. You can call me your American brother from this day forward if you would like.
I am very grateful to have experienced this time as a young man. The fall of the Berlin Wall, the freedom of nations in Europe. A moment of hope for peace. Unfortunately it didn't come true
Watching the video again after a few years, I remember growing up in this time, watching all of this unfold in real time. A world away from me and yet brought right in front of us through tv. A little scary to think about the time that’s passed and how far backwards this world has fallen from the strides made at that time. This song is (as I’ve always understood it) a celebration of all the changes that happened in 1989. The Wall came down, Moscow began dismantling the CCCP (USSR), people began to stand up to the Chinese government (Tienamin Square)… So much changed just in that year that it caught many of us off guard. We were told for years before that things would never change. The world would forever be as it had been. And then, it wasn’t. The images used were there to illustrate (at least it did so for) just much had changed. A celebration of change in the world it was.
This song is from 1990. Back then it was about the cold war being over after the Warsaw Pact dissolved. The song expresses the hope that the world is now getting better and that all people can live together like brothers and sisters. A very hopeful song without any accusations.
Sad thing not only communist's Soviet Union should have fall for peace but capitalists U.S. too. Because we didn't get our peace. It seems vig, wealth U.S. companies will confuse this world until WW3. Dear George Carlin was talking the truth about owners of America..
I felt bad seeing the hurt in your eyes as you tried to watch the video. You come across as a beautiful human being… I look forward to watching your vids‼️😍
Iam German I might relate to the feeling that you now feel. It is a weird mix of emotions. Not a feeling of guilt but a feeling like you have to justify yourself a lot. Or sometimes feel ashamed. Best regards :) PS: There its no comparision in the horrible actions of back in the day and now. Its just about the feeling
She has no clue what this song is about…. It’s not an attack on her. Maybe she should research the song before trashing the audience ! It’s actually a peace anthem ❤❤❤
Its about Us, As Humens sharing a Great moment of hope and piece. How at the end of the cold war we got closer as a species. It supposed to be a celebration. I remember when my daughter first herd the song. She began crying so heard. I asked her why and she said because at the time before the Berlin wall fell, it was her greatest wish and what she prayed for every night. She said she did not understand the full meaning of the wall back then, just that as long as it was there Me and her mother were in great danger. We were both in The United States Marine Corps at the time and Her mother served in Germany and they had seen the wall quite often. she always felt that the wall itself was the source of all the tension and so she hated it. When the song came out it was years after the wall was taken down but to her, she said, it just felt like herring Gods reply to her prayers telling her "See I heard you". She went on to serve in the Marine Corps as well and now is married with seven kids. To this day my daughter cannot here that song without tearing up with happiness and feeling that elation and hope on the night when she watched the wall being torn down. Another great reaction and as always thanks for sharing, bless and be well.
I remember watching the Fall of the Wall on the news as a teenager. Soldiers and civilians on both sides celebrating their emotional reunion with family and friends that they hadn't seen in decades. Soldiers happy that they were no longer enemies and could finally relax together.
I was stationed in Germany, with the US Army from 87 to 90, and I got to see all of the change happening right around me. The reunification of Germany, the tearing down of the wall between East and West Berlin, the emancipation of Czechoslovakia, Romania, Hungary, Poland, and the other Eastern Block Countries. This song was a celebration of the end of the Cold War, and the coming together of people that had been enemies for so many years. The imagery in the video was showing the contrast between 1989 and 1990. I hope that you can find the beauty that we all saw in the unification and the end of the Soviet Union.
I am so sorry that you have to be the target of negative comments. I believe this song is a song of hope for the future as the Cold War was over or ending. It is a shame that we cannot have peace in our world.
@@just2coolkk it’s a shame how the world is. My grand parents left Poland and Austria-Hungary to the US in the early 20th century. Maybe to get out before the wars, but I don’t know for sure.
Klaus Meine (Scorpions lead vocalist and the songwriter of "Wind of Change") also did a version of this song in Russian as well - some of the singles from the Crazy World lineup (1990/91) had this version. The nods to Moscow (the Moskva river and Gorky Park) in the first verse were inspired by The Scorpions playing the Moscow Peace Festival in August of 1989, and the falling of the Berlin Wall later that same year. So it was meant to be hopeful, as it felt things in Europe at least, were starting to change for the better at that point in time.
I like how they show the opposing sides, all the proxy wars. One man, Gorbachev and his policy of Glasnost and Perestroika (restructuring), it was a scary, and uncertain time, but also a time filled with hope. I remember partying at a friends house, when he was flipping through the channels and landed on a news channel broadcasting the fall of the Berlin Wall, which was really the start of the restructuring of the USSR. We all stopped and watched in wonder until the news went off the air. I remember us talking afterwards about how it would be cool to visit the USSR, to see what these places and people were really like. And yet here we are today, all that Russia and the world had gained, lost becuse of one man. Peace is never perfect, but I would take peace with all it's imperfections over what we have now.
Sweetheart, this song has made me cry for decades now. When the wall came down and the Iron Curtain fell, we all thought that Russia was on it's way to prosperity and it's people were finally free! Metallica played Moscow to a great crowd of 1.6 million free, happy Russians!!! We were finally, truly brothers and sisters!!! No horrible, stupid war between us. Sadly, you are the "Children of Tomorrow" the song speaks of. We expected our children to all be born into a free world where our children could reach their full potential and prosper together. That dream has crashed onto rocks. Why? Why do we continue this madness? Writing this through watery eyes. We love the Russian people. Propaganda and treachery of the rich and powerful tear us apart. Not blaming any one country. It seems to be the fate of humanity.
As a soldier in West Germany (US) 1982-86 We heard the rhetoric from the East and the West. From home the talks of Reagan triggering WW3. He had a hopeful heart "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!" and our Left angry with the Right as I stood there with my own hopeful heart. It was not about winning, it was about stopping a madness of imagined fears. Winds of change, it is always in the air and carried my plane for the last time to the USA, my personal mission was done. I wondered and prayed for those that replaced me. I had wondered how my counterparts felt when they were seeing it from their side. Scorpions really did a great job with the song. I always liked it. Great reaction.
I spent the first part of my adult life serving in the Marine Corps, a majority of which was during the Cold War. I've seen the horror that war causes. From World War II to Vietnam, where my served at the end of and during TET in '67/'68, to Beruit in '83 that killed over 300 of my fellow Marines, on who I had served with. To the 1st Gulf War, that I served in. War is never the answer.
Hi Irino, (hope I spelled your name correctly) I hope you are well. I am a retired veteran. I served in the U. S. Army as a young man during that awful time in our history, the Cold War, my heart goes out to your people. I have met & worked with Russian soldiers, they were really good guys. Please do not misjudge this great song, please research the lyrics, it is an anthem for peace, I tear up every time I hear it. I have a daughter about your age, and I’m so thankful she did not have to face the horrors that you may have had to. Watching your reaction to this song and seeing the pain in your eyes, makes me wish I could give you a hug and help the healing begin
Irina. I just found your page. I love the Scorpions, so my search also found you. I understand how you feel 100%. This song was a tribute to the end of the Cold War between USSR and the West. The line where he sings ... "The world is closing in And did you ever think That we could be so close like brothers? The future's in the air, I can feel it everywhere I'm blowing with the wind of change" Symbolizes the future brotherhood ... and sisterhood too of Russia with the West. A few bad Presidents / Prime Ministers and leadership from ALL sides... and it all fell apart. Probably mostly because China took over global markets, and left Russia, and many Western countries with less of the global economic pie. Now the political fires around the shrinking world has caused a back draft. But enough of that. Enjoy the song for what it was meant to do. Embrace brotherhood and change for the better.
Irina I understand of you being upset. 30+ years ago, hope for those in Eastern Europe and Russia. Berlin Wall fell, and those countries have freedoms of choice since WWII. Now, we are living in troubling times with certain person in Russia causing problems. But like 30+years ago, it can happen again to have hope.
Scorpions is a Hard-Rock-Band from Hannover and Wind of Change was written in 1989 by the singer Klaus Meine. For us Germans, it expresses the hope of an end to the Cold War and an end between East and West Germany. However, the song was published before the fall of the Berlin Wall on November 9th, 1989. For many Germans it is like a hymn of freedom after the fall of the Berlin Wall. I even think that Scorpions was the first rock band that was allowed to give a concert in the USSR. I was about 20 years old when this song was released and it was the first time we felt hope for the better. Not just for Germany, also for a whole world without war. It’s a very positive and hopegiving song. Hear the lyric carefully❤
When we're going through dark times, it's important to remember that we're standing on the shoulders of giants. We're here because every generation before us overcame the struggles of their time. The winds of change will blow again, this too shall pass.
Maybe you are too young to understand it. This song was from 1990 from the end of the cold war. At that time people in many countries had a positive idea of the future because the confrontation between the east and west seemed to be over for good. It seemed as if from now on we would all be brothers and bands like the Scorpions (they are from West Germany) were all of a sudden allowed to play in the east and they appreciated how passionate the fans in the USSR were. At that time it seemed as if nothing could stop the winds of change and that there would no longer be wars or dictatorships in Europe. But that feeling didn't last that long. In 91 the civil wars in Yugoslavia started.
I THINK ALL RUSSIAN PEOPLE SHOULD.LISTEN TOO THIS SONG. THIS SONG IS TRUE ABOUT THE END.OF THE COLD WAR. AND.ALL GET ALONG AND MAKE THIS WORLD A BEUTIFUL PLACE TOO LIVE WITHOUT WAR. GOD WANTS US TOO ALL GET ALONG AND MAKE THIS WORLD A GREAT PLACE TOO LIVE. AND TAKE CARE OF OUR PLANET.. WITH TRUE LOVE FOR ALL.❤❤❤❤
Irina, Russia is a beautiful country filled with wonderful people. Although, it is slightly less beautiful and has one less wonderful person now that you’re here. We’re lucky to have you. Thanks for sharing your reactions.
This song is not anti-Russian, it is anti-war. It seemed at the time of this song that we (the people) were winning and we might end war. We have lost ground since then.
You are you and not just a nationality, but a human being . I wish you could of enjoyed the song for what it was, but your reaction speaks volumes to things that are happening are out of everyones control, but the powers that be. I am from Australia, and love hearing your thoughts and your reactions, so keep up the fantastic work 🙂 I am already waiting for your next reaction ! we are made up of all different up brings and ways of life mixed with different cultures, but underneath it all we are all the same, we are all people with love and understanding . Peace and love from Australia ❤
I remember when this song came out. My wife and I were just a couple of dumb kidds who got married too young. We watched the end of the Cold War on TV and we could not believe what we were seeing. This song definitely has a special place for a lot of people. For Gen X, we grew up under tha shadow of The Bomb and were told we might die at any moment. When the Berlin Wall fell, there was a brief moment when the world was hopeful.
This song was a song of hope about the end of the cold war; I guess 30 years later Putin made it clear that the end of the "cold war" didn't change a damn thing.
I served n the US military and never hated the Russian people. I did not like the government but that is not the people and that government is gone. Russian people are great people. Kind, caring and loving as any other. Governments try and divide us and create hate where there should be none. Love to the Russian people.
This is a super powerful song. That we could be so close like brothers. This is not a bad sad song but a good sad song. Unity is the theme. Listen to the winds of change. This is got to be one of their greatest songs that I could listen over and over again.
I am old enough to have remembered the Cold War. I would always wonder how, we has humans, could allow something like that to happen. The kid growing up in Russia was no different than me in Canada. We both have the same things to deal with: school, friends….What is happening now reminds me how fragile peace is. It also reminds me that you shouldn’t judge a people by their government. The average person is just like you: want peace. Don’t let things like this change you. ✌️
This song is the anthem of the end of the Cold War, and the end of the Berlin Wall. It's really a peace song celebrating the end of a war.

Только мы оказались несвободны после распада СССР, где было свободы больше чем сейчас
You've always come across as nice to me at least lol.
it was end of cold war the end of a nightmare we all hoped for a very different future
It's very likely the song lyrics were written by the CIA, its a very interesting story and worth reading about. While the deatails are still classified, if it's the case, it does appear to be a psy op meant at influencing soviet youth in the moments after the Berlin wall fell.
what you said
I was was a us military MP in Germany when the wall came down. It happened so fast over night. I fell in love with Europe and the many beautiful souls I met. I am forever changed for the better. I started guitar at 14 and wanted to play scorpions and see them live. Every time they gave it 100 percent. One great song is "there's no one like you" well I say there's no one like them!
We were so close ❤ really hoped it would last.
This came from the time just before the collapse of the Soviet Union. The Berlin Wall had just come down, Germany was a newly reunited nation, and, that same spark was spreading all throughout Eastern Europe. It's one of those historical eras I am glad I was around for.
song actually pre-dates the fall of the wall, was just reused for the purposes of it, since it clearly suited it well.
@@dalehammers4425well.. its a bit complicated, the idea to the song predates the fall of the wall, with about 2 month, but the actual song was mostly composed and fully recorded after the fall of the wall. Its possible that there was changes along the way
The winds of change in this song is bringing peace. The images of military is what’s being blown away.
Plus that solo man
Being Russian is not a crime.
Russia is trying to restart the Cold War by invading Ukraine
❤❤❤❤ from Russia!
She doesnt understand the song
All people are important and should be loved, the Russian people in general are the same as we are. It’s the leadership in the world controlled by power and money, that is the problem.
This song is not directed at you. You understand the message. You are a child of tomorrow. You are a possibility of change. That's what the song is about. 🤘 You rock.
This!
Absolutely right..
They really dont understand the meaning of it coz they are kids today
Long live to Freedom
thank you for commenting and watching
This is a song of hope for the people of Russia after 80 years of communist oppression of the people.
poland got into the eu developed into vibrant democracy russian feel to gangsterism
Nothing but love here. Your place of origin doesn't define you. I'm here because we have things like music to unify us ❤️
I like Russia and Russians so much!
Please ignore the haters. I send you only thanks, happiness and love 💕
Your doggie is adorable!
It can be hard for people to look back at what some people did generations before us. I feel your pain for humanity.
I think we need more people like you in this world!
Much love from America 🇺🇸❤
I am American, you have absolutely nothing to apologize about - nothing, nothing, nothing. Funny how actual people in the various countries can get along so well, and yet governments can cause so many problems. Smile and don't apologize any more. :)
God bless you girl and all Russia. Love from USA.
I love Russia from morroco 🇲🇦❤️🇷🇺
You can't imagine what the song means for us East Germans. But that's okay too. And no matter what's going on out there, it's nice that you deal with it. I think a lot of people only think of the Berlin Wall, but there was so much more and I'll put it this way. How long will those who can tell this story be around? So ask us: Damn it, if we don't want this to happen again;
-
This song became an emotional anthem to the triumph of peace over war, albeit a somewhat hollow one.
-
Nonetheless this song shall always be a reminder that life is cyclical.
Russia must disappear, and people should never accept into society what is left of it.
i know the odds are not with it, but maybe humans can learn from their mistakes. if they don't, the future for this planet is not good.
Hey, Irina
This song is basically about the fall of the Berlin Wall and Communism in Russia as a whole, which was viewed as "The Winds Of Change" the lead to the reunifying of East and West Germany into one country and the Soviet Union becoming the commonwealth of independent states
Dont worry dear, i like you, you nothing to do with any wars,God speed from me Steven Giraud.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You have a beautiful heart! This American guy loves my Russian brothers and sisters! We need peace in our world!
Unfortunately some wars are 100% necessary. Just is. Humans have also battled each other since the beginning for one reason or another.
Seeing you like that makes me want to hug you.
😢😢😢
🙁🙁🙁
its really hard and so sad seeing this now ... but she is not russia.
@@just2coolkk no?
This is an anti-war song. Did you ever think, that we could be so close like brothers! Unity. The world is a better place with everyone in it! 🫶
Hmm. I really love that song, as a german. But it makes me sad, to watch YOU... fighting against crying. My deepest respect, to stand this video online.

Летняя ночь августa,

Воздух нaполнен будущим,

Thank you for reacting to this song. This song helped define a moment in time for an entire generation. It gave us hope for a better future…one where we all may be as close as brothers. Keep on being yourself…we all love your honesty. These are terrifying times we live in…terrible for everyone. The song itself is beautiful and helps give all of us hope…take comfort in that. Keep the reactions coming…keep being yourself. Lots of love from Canada 🇨🇦
Hi from Eussia 😢 ❤ Canada
There was so much hope back then, for a short time we thought the world could be changed. Berlin was magical during this time, crazy and open and full of energy. I wish our hopes had been confirmed. Unfortunately, we all have to keep trying with hope. Thank you for reacting. Peace and Love from Germany
This song is about peace, and hope for a better future for everyone. I saw this wall as a child. Watching it come down was an inspiration that peace was beginning for so many people.
Memories of the Cold War coming to an end in the late 80's, music was the unifying factor between the people
This song always hurls me back in time too ❤
The '80s were such a whiny time. "Oh I'm scared of the Bomb!" lol just chill people. Nobody's dropping any thermals.
I just also read someone else's comment and realized you are living her in the US as well. As they said, I still meant what I said.
You seem like a lovely empathetic young lady. A lot of the time, civilians can do nothing about the decisions of their leaders and feel so helpless.
We have lost so much from when this song came out. It was a magical time to be alive. Hopefully we can get it back.
Sending you and Russian people LOVE from Canada !!
❤🎉❤🎉❤
Its just about the feeling
it would be nice if we all care for one another and show love for everybody, Just get along with everybody. Love has always been the answer..
She has no clue what this song is about…. It’s not an attack on her. Maybe she should research the song before trashing the audience ! It’s actually a peace anthem ❤❤❤
100% this
Its about Us, As Humens sharing a Great moment of hope and piece.
Soldiers happy that they were no longer enemies and could finally relax together.
this siprit of that time is what we would need in these days more than ever.
I'm a cold war Veteran 1980-1987 and 1989-1997 United States Navy I can appreciate this song.
I hope that you can find the beauty that we all saw in the unification and the end of the Soviet Union.
thank you for your service, thank you for watching as well and commenting
I am so sorry that you have to be the target of negative comments. I believe this song is a song of hope for the future as the Cold War was over or ending. It is a shame that we cannot have peace in our world.
yes dont take it personal... im a german we got some over the last 75 years...
Thanks for the hook to Gorky Park - now I don't need to look up that connection (I refer to it in my main-line comment)
3:20 Damn woman, you just totally made my allergies act up talking about your perception as a kid of tanks being such powerful machines. Wow.
Peace and Love!
If we come together and love each other the world would be a great place!❤
Thank you for your heartfelt and honest reaction. The moment this song/video becomes easy to hear/watch is the exact moment that humanity is lost.
You are the children of tomorrow that they were singing about.
Great reaction.
thank you for your service, thank you for watching with me
I spent the first part of my adult life serving in the Marine Corps, a majority of which was during the Cold War.
I've seen the horror that war causes. From World War II to Vietnam, where my served at the end of and during TET in '67/'68, to Beruit in '83 that killed over 300 of my fellow Marines, on who I had served with. To the 1st Gulf War, that I served in.
War is never the answer.
I agree...War is never the answer.
Those were some rough times. Thank you for defending our country and those that needed our help.
There are as many, if not more, Russian victims in the current conflict there.
Stating one is Russian should really evoke sympathy, not enmity.
This song isn't about war its about the end of the cold war when the Berlin wall fell down. I was in stationed in Germany in 1989
I was in the 6th grade when this all happened! I remember president Regan saying mr Mr Gorbachev tear down this wall!
Irina. I just found your page.
I love the Scorpions, so my search also found you.
I understand how you feel 100%. This song was a tribute to the end of the Cold War between USSR and the West. The line where he sings ...
"The world is closing in
And did you ever think
That we could be so close like brothers?
The future's in the air, I can feel it everywhere
I'm blowing with the wind of change"
Symbolizes the future brotherhood ... and sisterhood too of Russia with the West.
By the way... You're dog is AWESOME!!!😁
he says hello, thank you for watching with me
You're welcome. I love your channel@@RussianReactionReviews

I understand of you being upset.
WITH TRUE LOVE FOR ALL.❤❤❤❤
ty for watching
Irina, Russia is a beautiful country filled with wonderful people. Although, it is slightly less beautiful and has one less wonderful person now that you’re here. We’re lucky to have you. Thanks for sharing your reactions.
This song is not anti-Russian, it is anti-war. It seemed at the time of this song that we (the people) were winning and we might end war. We have lost ground since then.
You are you and not just a nationality, but a human being .
I wish you could of enjoyed the song for what it was, but your reaction speaks volumes to things that are happening are out of everyones control, but the powers that be.
I am from Australia, and love hearing your thoughts and your reactions, so keep up the fantastic work 🙂
I am already waiting for your next reaction !
we are made up of all different up brings and ways of life mixed with different cultures, but underneath it all we are all the same, we are all people with love and understanding .
A masterpiece from an under rated band. Ya gotta love it! It captured a relevant event in history.
Paz y amor y positividad. ☮️☮️☮️☮️☮️💟💟💟
Great Reaction! This song means a lot to us germans, its so important. Greetings from Germany!
This is a super powerful song. That we could be so close like brothers. This is not a bad sad song but a good sad song. Unity is the theme. Listen to the winds of change. This is got to be one of their greatest songs that I could listen over and over again.
Like here in America, don't hate the people, hate the politics
Sorry you didn't enjoy the song Irina. It's a beautiful song with a beautiful meaning. The video doesn't do justice to the inspiration of the song.
Don't feel like that...
Just Spread you love as always ...
