Kudos to whoever recommended this! Great song&nice to see it made Irina happy w/childhood memories😊
This is one of the best music videos ever made; still stands up today.
Your right.
This is a great and memorable song from 1985.
The Video won best of the year at the MTV awards, mostly because of the sensational work done by the comic artist..I've only seen a few guys that could draw that well in Black and White, except for maybe Frank MIller (300, Daredevil, Sin City)
Went to grade school with Frank Miller in Vermont
Forget the song I could just gaze at this woman's eyes all day.
aww you are so sweet!Thank you!
They cast the right lady.
This was a big hit when it came out. I remember the music video being played all the time on MTV
I remember being like 4 years old in the 80s and watching this one MTV repeatedly lol. I understand the feel of it taking you back to your childhood.
The video is hand drawn by using a technique called Rotoscoping, where you film at first, then draw over the frames. It took two drawers 4 months to finish the video, and 3000 drawings. A-ha was huge in the 80's, and later on they became huge in Russia as well. They still sell out stadions for conserts. A great band from Norway, well worth giving a deep dive. The follow up is The sun always shines on TV. I will also recommend Hunting high and low, Manhattan Skyline, Train of Thought, Stay on these roads, Summer moved on... I could go on and on, such a great band.
Great reaction to a stellar video!
This was one of the high water marks on the MTV era. Such an amazing and innovative concept video for a great song. This should be on the list of best videos ever made, and probably in the top 5 if not at the top.
The song was a very good but fairly standard synthpop song in many ways, but the video just made it so much better, telling a complete and involved story along with a happy ending in spite of the villainous racers who came to hurt the winner of the race.
I remember being inspired by this to dream up a video for the song The Sun Always Shines On TV from the same album. Never did much beyond a basic storyboard for it, but it was fun to dream up. 🙂
Great song. Never gets old. Came out year i was born.
I was in middleschool when this came out and I loved it so much. It will always have a warm place in my heart.
I was 10 years old when this song was released. Loved the video as soon as it hit MTV. Classic.
Irina, WOW, what a wonderful, joyful reaction you gave us ❤😊❣ This is such a beautiful song, and it also brings back memories for me, but for you, it is just precious to take you back to your childhood days - I LOVE that for you 🥰🥰❗ It made your New Year's and your reaction made mine too!! Thank you so much 💕😍💟!!!
Your reaction to this and other hit songs is priceless. You have a whole new world of music to hear and listen to and experience. Enjoy it all!
It's just a little bit older. I remember when this song came out. Back then your country was called "The Union of Soviet Socialist Republic." It came out in 1984.
"A-ha" is an exclamation used when you solve a mystery or other problem. (Your first pronunciation was correct)
"A-ha, It was the butler in the kitchen with a wrench."
This song came out when your mom was around 5 years old. I was in the Navy stationed in TN going through my schools. It was a big hit at the time.
Thanks! Haha, youtube's block failed. Such an 80's song...brings back memories.
I knoooow 😂 they tried to block my video again.. but! I’m here 😂 thank you so much for your support ❤
@@RussianReactionReviews That must be so frustrating for you content creators. I couldn't deal with it.
@@MarkAg47 yessss every week you need to fight them
That's why it has a billion views, everyone loves it from their childhood. 😊
Maybe the best video of all time. And the song isn't too shabby, either.
I don’t think I have heard this song since I was 10 years old I love it thanks for taking me back there again 😊
Another wonderful reaction video Irina!
Oooh poor baby you can cry. You’re so adorable great reaction
The 80’s was when cinematic music videos became popularized and this video was the peak of the genre of cinematic music videos. Only a handful of others reached this level. Great song too. I never tire of hearing it.
Very true, although a lot of 80s videos were also absolute cringe. But that was okay because they were in uncharted territory and they often had very low budgets. It was actually part of the charm, looking back. 90s videos became a lot more polished, but they also became a lot more predictable.
And thats how you make your subscribers day...couldnt get that smile off your face....the inner child immediately came out in you....great reaction x
Awesome song... Happy New Year's!!! ❣❣
Takes me back to. This was a solid repeat back in my highschool days, tearing down the turnpike in my Ford Thunderbird. Music up, windows down.
Love your reaction to this, especially since you recognized the song, and it brought back memories for you. That is what music does, it brings you back to an earlier (happier) time! :)
Love your reaction here, and so glad it made you happy!!!
Loved the reactions to this video! ❤
A favorite of all time!!! Such a happy song.
YAAY! Hooray hooray! Saw the notification, but the vid was blocked. THANk you for the re-upload! If you want to cry, listen to the "Unplugged" performance of this song. I feel like it is heartbreakingly beautiful.
This song always brings me back to my childhood too.
That song is almost 40 years old. It is dated 1985.
Back in school in show choir being a tennor this was a song I liked to use to warm up. Fit my range well.
It’s interesting seeing people react to songs-I’ve heard tens of thousands of times over many decades-with virgin ears.
What a heartwarming emotional reaction 🥲😊
Something tells me this is gonna be in your top five of your playlist
awesome song, i first heard it when my dad blast it in car when we were going on summer vacation, i liked it right away!
Classic song not sure how old but I think it’s from the 80’s maybe early 90’s I remember seeing this video on MTV when I was a kid. So cool you know this from Russia when you were young. It’s amazing how much you have accomplished in life I can’t believe how young you are. ❤
1985.
Irina is such a lovely name. My Polish Gramma is Irene. She died 5 years ago and I miss her very much.
As an animator I've always loved this music video. Every bit of the animation had to be drawn by hand tracing over the live video. That's called rotoscoping.
Irina has to be the sweetest girl on all of youtube. Love watching your vids
A ha is a very great group and singer
Childhood memories for me , remember playing in the street and it was playing on the radio in the kitchen and my mum was singing along 😂 all the way back in 88 😂 yeah am old
That's amazing, I know the feeling of knowing a song but not knowing the name at all and you were 5 at the time! That's insane that you still remember the melody! Very Cathy melody at that!
I have always loved this song!
Everything about it is perfection
From MY childhood too! But in 1985, I was 9! :)))))))))) Loved watching and reminiscing with you!
This video was cutting edge when it aired. Waaaay long ago. Still so much fun.
When this song came out in 1985 I was ten and I loved it then and still do at 47 soon to be 48. Cheers from Alberta Canada.
A-ha is a great band and this song is one of the best song in the 80's. You should alsp listen to A-ha in The Sun always Shine On Tv , Crying In The Rain, Hunting High and Low, I have ben losing you, Stay on this Roads, Touchy, You are the one. Summer move on, Forever Not Yours
That song is almost 40 years old, maybe the radio station kept playing it after it was new cause it is such an iconic song.. also that music video is one of the best of all times, imagine the fact that then they did not have the technology of today.. And by the way, there is a newer acoustic version about 5 years old that you would really like... That guy sings almost as he was young... and to be fair, he doesnt look that old at all. They still do amazing concerts. You should check them out!... Great reaction, I had fun watching you!
*Now PLEASE watch the literal version of this song. Same video but words changed to fit the crazy video. "Total Eclipse of the Heart" also has a crazy video and hilarious literal version.*
Nostalgia is a POWERFUL emotion!
Sometimes you never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.
this is one of my favorite songs when I was a kid and the video made it a lot better or talking head's sledgehammer song and a really good video also
Love this song.
Never get tired of that song🥰
I was born when this song came out haha. But I remember songs when I was 4-5 in 1989-1990 great music back than. You look younger
When I read these titles, I usually don’t recognize them, but then when I hear it, I do haha nice 👍
The video was the first of its kind and played over and over on MTV back in the day
Great song great video. This is what art is supposed to do move you in some way. The group is from Norway which you don't see very often.
Such a great song and video!!! 🙂
Such an iconic song.
In the video game Saint's Row 2, this is one of the songs that the player character will sometimes sing along when it comes on the in-game radio while driving around the city.
The band chose the name A-Ha because it was universally known as an exclamation of surprise. Great choice!✌️❤️
80's music is something else
There is a sequel (sort of) called the Sun Always Shines on TV. Perhaps another reaction?
I was 13 and when I heard it. I was love at 1st sight.
This song makes me cry because I want to go back to the 80's so bad.....
Excellent song & Video 👌
A song in which the video is a must.
Those two guys with the wrench and helmets who were going after the lead singer and the girl were the motorcyclists who lost the race at beginning of the music video. Their worlds collided when the cafe lady owner crumpled up the comic book and threw it into the trash can.
The last scene where the lead singer was thrashing his body against the walls of the girl's apartment was reminiscent of a scene from the movie Altered States with William Hurt when the main character was fighting to not sucked into another dimension and stay in the earthly realm.
Thank you for having made this reaction to Take on me which is a fabulous song ! The two men who attack Morten and the girl are not policemen, they are the opponents who lost in the motorcycle race who want revenge !
I love this song. The girl is so pretty.
a Classic song
Classic song, best video EVER!!!
Hi. You should also see the final part of that story of that video and it appears at the beginning of another video of that group in the song called the sun always shines on tv

Morten Harket tem a mais bela voz da história da música pop.
And the most beautiful face 😂 I’d simp so hard for him when I was watching top of the pops 🤣
7:30 By the time my parents were the age I am now, I was already 27. It's wild to think if I had had a child at the same age my parents were, I would already be a grandfather.
Was about 6 or 7 yrs old when this came out miss the 80s
Aha tiene muchas canciones hermosas no solo esa música, voz, letras son diferentes por eso me gustan mucho soy su fan desde los 80 y ellos son Noruegos.
Morten the singer also dated the lady in this video. Model Bunty Bailey..bit of trivia. Great song and reaction🎉
Irina, you look really young to have been five in 1984 when this song was released. This song remains fresh and entertaining. Thank you for your insights and anecdotes.
I'm guessing that her parents listened to stations that played the song when she was younger; I'm a mid-80s baby, and my parents listened to radio stations that played Take On Me years after its original release. Edit: also, growing up in Russia, it's highly possible that music like this didn't come to Russia for a while after it was originally released.
Actually came out in 1985.
I'm pretty sure the song was played a lot on the radio in the 90s and still is.
Love that top you're wearing.
A ha is a norwegian group, a very popular group in the 90ts,after this...try react to Angelina Jordan, also from norway, but this is a shocking one,,Angelina Jordan, i put a spell on you, 9 years old in beast mode, the barefoot princess of jazz, but she can sing any genre of music, next superstar
This was the chorus to my first crush in 85.
This was way before your childhood. 😆 I was 4. Now 42!
this song is from the album "Hunting High and Low" released October 1984 yes I still have the Record and the Cassette Tape lol
Love song,love a ah
Irina. You will enjoy the song "Hunting high and low " by A-ha. You are absolutely darling ❤️
your childhood was full of good music
Such a classic!!! The animation style if so unique Family guy made a skit out of it.
Thank you for your reaction. I think I've watched every reaction video to this song and It astounds and disappoints me that those reacting aren't able to connect that those assaulting the main characters in the middle of the video were the competitors from the motorcycle race (team no, 13) at the beginning of the video as it's so important to the overall story. Nonetheless, this has to one of the best music videos of all time--it's my favorite.
I like "The Living Daylights" also. Although "The Sun Always Shines On TV" is probably more known.
Almost everything 80's is good. Since that's when I grew up :)
Most viewed 80's music video ever is probably "Europe - The Final Countdown". Has exceeded 1 billion views.
This song is from the 1980s and won an award for the video. A-ha is a Norwegian group, but I remember this as being a big hit song in America. 4/9/23
The song Take On Me by the Swedish group A-HA was made in 1987
Best Music Video EVER!!!
