Fun fact: In the original release the character was literally named "OK Stimpson" but the sole bit of censorship for the original American release was his name being changed to "Juicy Jones".
I must be semi-psychotic then 🤷♂️ I played the hell out of these games, often breaking out into shoulder humping maniacal laughter, watching the replays at all speeds and angles! 🇬🇧👌 Absolutely fantastic. I also recommend Postal 2 for the same reasons.
Glide was a graphics API (like Direct3d, OpenGL and Vulkan) developed by 3dfx, which would only work with 3dfx graphic cards (voodoo, etc). A glide wrapper is a piece of software that emulates the glide API so its features can be used with a non-3dfx card through Direct3d, OpenGL, Vulkan or even software rendering depending on the wrapper.
Yeah this game was really cool! I even painstakingly unlocked every vehicle in the game which took an ungodly amount of time. Can't say it wasn't worth it though because steam rolling everyone in a beefed up super APC was pretty damn fun.
Excellent retrospective of a legendary game. Loved the freedom to explore, go crazy speeds, and ramp off high places without a care. While some vehicle stats weren't ironed out until C2 (SP's Alfonso was so low that you'd grind against the ground even on a straight away, and Stella would often start bouncing to death if you recovered during Pinball Mode), there was still an amazing variety. For larger vehicles, you can use the cursor keys to adjust the camera height. After the ending FMV, press "i" during a race to toggle a hidden coordinate and odometer debug. You could also decrypt some data files with the IWANTTOFIDDLE code and mess with everything's stats. The Pratcam was simple but hilarious, which saddened me that it was the only game to bother including it. Even the original game's limitations could be argued in favor of it, such as because body panels did not fall off until C2, this allowed the impressive dynamic mesh deformation to shine; something that we wouldn't see much of until a decade after in other car games. 3DFX mode did wonders for Carma 1 and 2, as you saw - it'd have been a shame if 320x240 (640x480 in -hires mode) was all it could do. Here's hoping THQ Nordic can carry the next gen of Carma properly!
I played this a lot when i was a kid, never got very far but the novelty of running over people and crashing head on is just a recipe for a good time when you're a kid.
The android port is probably the best phone port of a game I've played. The controls are responsive and it's really well optimised, and the best part is that it's portable. The phone gaming market could be a really great place to port old games and Carmageddon proves it.
You have no ide how much i played this as a 10 year old kid with my friends in 1999. we loved this game. same for Carmageddon 2 but even more. going to check out that video aswell.
I can't recommend Carmageddon 2 enough. Polygon pedestrians, so you can knock limbs off and they still try to escape. You can push cars into the corners of buildings and split them in half. It is still one of my, hands down, favorite games of all time.
I'm going through your back catalogue. YOu deserve more subs, doing well and keep it up. You'll be at a 1000 subs in no time. Then 5k and 10 by the end of the year. Definitely earned a sub from me.
just found your channel, the quality for how few subs you have is impressive, looking forward to watching more of your videos. keep up the good work man
Oh, I can't wait for Carmageddon II. My parents were livid after I actually managed to set controls and merrily proceeded to smash, burn and zap 'zombies' into nuggets.
Honestly, one of the best things about tge carmageddon franchise is the incredbile modding potential. To this day, the og fanbase (plus one of the og devs) continue making mods for the orignal, 2, and beyond.
There is also the next generation version called “Max damage” that is also on the consoles too. The PC classic is still my favorite, but the new one with a group of friends set to a last car standing match - OOOOH! It’s just so much FUN! Fun at home when you’re online with your friends, fun in person when you’re able to connect with friends on a LAN server (It allows for it IIRC), also it is PC and Xbox confirmed cross platform (unknown right now with PSN but did see it on the store).
Played first game on PS1, didn't even knew had a PC version. Carmageddon 2 was the one I played the absolute most out of cause I just loved driving the different types of vehicles in all the maps and the deformation was insane for me. Although, ignoring TDR2000 and jumping straight to the latest game of the series, "Val Hella" was a nightmare to play against cause that bitch actually had those "Drills" on her wheels actually rip MY tires off...
Holy shit... I didn't know you made a video about this game! I didn't grew up with the original DOS game but I did play the mobile version. Vehicle handling is slippery as shit but I got used to it. Carmageddon is quite possibly one of the rare few times I ACTUALLY WANTED to REPLAY a racing game. Too bad the mobile version got delisted and also the fact that this franchise is more dead than FlatOut (yikes).
downloadable from the playstore for modern mobile devices, but this was lit in that windows 95 era...they made a great port! the chick is 1990s hot, and the controls and graphics are too. totally recommend!
Great game. Number 2 might edge it though. Would've been good to focus a bit more on the cars themselves. The Ferrari spider car i remember wanting to unlock badly, and yeah the unlock system was disappointing. Called you a cheat in the end too, which is just the games humour
Still one of my all time favourite games, and one I currently have installed on both my main pc and on my Steam Deck so I can play it whenever. It's great for banging out a race or two while waiting for co-workers or when you get early to a job site etc. Soundtrack always gets me so pumped to smash cars, and run over peds.
If you apply real live logic Yes but they can be separated for genuras easy Carma is wreckfest for mentally unstable But in twisted metal cars controls like mechs or someting Thats where racing impression cames from
@@snesbagel Welp...do as you think bu for me this dosen't seems to be right to call carmageddon car combat...Between them there is difference like dmc and ultra kill...in booth you hurting stuff in most stylish way possible
i remember playing the mobile version. Good times. cant believe child me would be interested in such gory video game but it was a 'racing' game so i cant help myself. i remember seeing a reddit post about someone porting the Splat Pack cars into the mobile version a year ago. wonder what happened to it
OJ Simpson playable character is wild

@@snesbagelAnd if you notice closely, orange juice abbreviated stands for OJ.
Carmageddon had a lot of crazy characters to choose from so the fact a lot of them aren't on Max Damage is pretty sad.
That got a laugh out of me.

Good memories of playing this until morning when I was a kid.

Yeah, I'm curious to see if they have any plans for the series.
As a kid the snow level was actually my favorite in this game.
Hey man, good video, nice narrative and good visual quality. You're fun little channel that deserves growth. Wish you the best.

Watching cows shit themselves just before you splatter them in to giblets, still makes me laugh today 27 year later 😂
My friends and I played the demo over and over for days until I was able to persuade my mum to buy it for me.

I'm happy carma is still being enjoyed, Thanks for your vidio
This was one of my favorite games as a kid. Damn I am old now.
My childhood. I spent hundreds of hours on Carma 2
I remember this game, I enjoyed it. As well as things like Interstate 76, Rogue Trip and even Streets of Sim City.....now that's a broken game.
When I got my first 3dfx card, this game was one of my favorite goto games.

What's bizarre to me is that the mobile port is better optimized and more functional than the pc version on steam.
Good vedo
So many memories, great vid❤
Never grew up with the pc version, but I gotta say that the android/ios port of this game is amazing.
Yeah, I've seen clips from it and it makes me wonder why they never ported that one to pc.
14:01 Drag racer with giant spike on front is not called the "Penetrator," shame.
Yet another way that car is disappointing.
Another great car combat game was Interstate 76. Dripped with cool style and great combat.
I never played that one but I sunk a lot of time into the spin-off. I plan on getting around to it one day.
There are a couple of carmageddon levels in Wreckfest

The car I enjoyed most is Electric Blue - the permanent electro b*stard ray is really handy if your going for peds
Yeah, I figured that would be the case. I wish you could unlock it normally lol.
What game look like movies action/scifi 80s-90s
Loved this game!
Those poor cows...
Nicely done, I quite like your vids 😊
Thanks fam.
The easiest way to tell ya:
Glide wrapper = cool thingamajig that tells the game you have a 3dfx Voodoo graphics card instead of yer cool RTX.
great vid, commenting for the algo :^)
Good I say
It ain't combat...it's destruction derby
I mean, car combat is basically a slightly more violent version of a destruction derby anyway.
