I used to hate them but nowadays i don't mind them. I kinda like the idea that they tried to do some variety, something new but those missions are just so unforgiving, especially on Hard. Radar dish one aren't too bad though, it's the equivalent of GTV Vice City's RC Heli mission. Infamous but there's much harder ones.
I've spent countless hours on Carmageddon 2. It to me was the best game ever. Yes very gore and violent but man to unlock all the cars and challenges! Do a series of it maybe ;)
Another great video! Carmageddon 2 was one of those games I only played the demo for but wanted so bad when I was younger, I think those outside missions would have made me quit or cheat too. Looking forward to your next video.
I wasn't prepared for how good the damage model for Carmageddon 2 ended up being! The mods really brought out the best of the engines body deformation!
I just stumbled upon this, great video. I made a bunch of the cars seen here, I went by Slayer back then. I haven't played C2 in years, but there was a few cars I started to make and never finished that every now and then I think about going back and working on if I could get car-ed to work on windows 10 lol. Were you on the CWA board back in those days?
Great video (you really deserve more viewers for this)! But I must also admit that it drove me absolutely crazy to see you play the 2nd mission seemingly without knowing that there is separate key for wheel-spin xD You will get a much higher accuracy in your car handling when you master the art of appropriately applying wheel-spin, it helps in all scenarios where you need to turn the car
I didn't have a spare button on the controller once I'd mapped everything else - can't live without being able to flap the doors! Admittedly, I only ever used wheelspin to jump the start even when I was on keyboard....
I loved the amount of "ordinary" cars which got made for it. Especially the US market stuff which I had no idea of before seeing it in game, but knowing it was big and square and good for smashing into other cars.
Man you're really going to do videos on every driving game I played at this point. Another great video and again a fitting tribute to the modders of old.
I got stuck on the mission where you had to kill the zombies in the control tower of the airport. Many years later I found out there was a zapper power up that you needed to complete the mission.
I remember that one getting to me even with cheats to pause the timer! Wasting a whole hour trying to find some way to get up there only to find a guide and read something like, "turn left, pick up the kangaroo on command pickup, find the pedestrian death ray near the tower, you can do the whole thing in under 30 seconds"
Second greatest, since we also have the Doom community :D Tho I gotta give credit to Toshiba3, I think it was them who made GTA 1 working on modern pcs too with a mod. I still sometimes play C2 with mods, last today
Apparently, the missions in C2 were a last minute addition after the publisher suddenly set the release date to earlier than originally planned, resulting in the developers having to go into mega crunch just to get the game out the door leaving no time for playtesting
That would do it. I think the airport control tower is one of the worst, you either spend ages trying and failing to drive off various ramps or you find the intended solution (iirc a combination of the kangaroo and ped electro ray powerups?) and it takes 30 seconds with hardly any skill required...
Missions were always a cockblock. Those 3 races could be knocked off, even if opponents were tough to wreck (in later levels they drove buses or semi trucks with ridiculous numbers of hit points) you could always do laps or run over peds. But 'mission' event was one specific objective within a time limit. That usually involved some carkour that wasn't that easy to pull off in this game's janky driving physics.
My first experience with Carmageddon was with the SOD mod, it was very fun, but C2s ai made the races bit too easy :> In the early 2000s I was playing and modding 1nsane, another great classic racing game, which had actual softbody physics in 2000. I can recommend trying it for every racing game fan. Carmageddon 2´s damage model (and 1nsane´s driving feel) was my goal to achieve for my own racing game project I´ve been working on, I´m building a banger racing game set in about the same time perioid of cars S.O.D. had, called "Thrash Racer". I want to build mod support into it too eventually, I need to create some kind of car creation tools anyway, so maybe they can be useful for modding
Question: I downloaded the “Carmageddon 2 Advanced Mod” version and there seems to be no weapons-boxes in any level anywhere. Is there something I am missing? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Unfortunately not anything I've encountered recently. I do vaguely remember the game doing some odd things with mods if they overwrote something but the game still loaded its own version from a .twt file, but no idea if that's what's going on here.
I got quite into writing scripts for SA:MP at one point - only for LAN parties and the like, never anything publicly released, although the friend who showed me SA:MP did write the original Protect The Prime Minister which was popular. Not so much on the vehicle mods although I did mess with the handling files quite a bit. It always annoyed me when they made a real-world RWD car FWD and vice versa...
I don't think I've ever met anyone who said "man, I loved the missions in Carmageddon 2".

Crazy thing is there is quite a lot of the development story I didn't get to include! It's an interesting game behind the scenes as well ...

Good to hear you mention ADR. His Mopar stuff was incredible
I loved AdR's cars. Living in the UK, they were how I learnt about most of the Mopar cars.

I lurked but never created an account. My parents told me Internet forums were dangerous and I shouldn't sign up to them!

Seeing the Citroën DS in Carma 2 makes me oddly happy
I loved the amount of "ordinary" cars which got made for it. Especially the US market stuff which I had no idea of before seeing it in game, but knowing it was big and square and good for smashing into other cars.
Great channel! Subbed and gona watch all videos
Man you're really going to do videos on every driving game I played at this point. Another great video and again a fitting tribute to the modders of old.
Fascinating stuff, sir! I enjoyed a bit of Carmageddon back in the day.
I thought I'd stumbled on a Reginald Bosanquet News at Ten tribute video for a minute there.
I love how challenging some of the missions are in Carmageddon 2.
Weirdly I never got into CM1 but was massively addicted to 2. Not entirely sure how far I got in it though.

I completes the airport mission using the red truck and use the ramp to get inside the tower

Awesome! More videos in this extreme style, please!

the only map I still hate to this day is Bruise Brothers

I played both original and modded versions! Great times when you couldn't go outside to play because the rain!
Is this Lincoln a port from the C2 mod community ruclips.net/video/TOzudj2s8i8/видео.html to me it screams C2.
Cool does TDR have many mods too?
TDR was always a bit unloved, in my hazy memory it had a few but nowhere near the number C2 saw at its peak.
@@TimberwolfK thanks for the reply. Nice video too btw. I don't know if you're interested. But have you seen the SA or GTA 3d era modding? It is huge
I got quite into writing scripts for SA:MP at one point - only for LAN parties and the like, never anything publicly released, although the friend who showed me SA:MP did write the original Protect The Prime Minister which was popular.

I downloaded the ultimate car pack C2. not working. Why? What is the cause, is there anything else that needs to be done?
Not sure, it "just worked" for me, maybe CWA Board might have some ideas?
@@TimberwolfK Hmm🤔
"The simple atetics and huge number"
Cue cities skylines
How do you mod this game?
That satellite mission is bad enough as is, but that time limit makes it way worse than it ever needed to be
