Note the transformer is 230v . If you're in 120v land the secondary should put out about 3.5-4v ac so the secondary would need 3.5-4.5 turns instead of 1.5 turns shown here. Also the shunts can be removed from the MOT to give more room for the secondary wire. You can also remove the insulation from the secondary wire and use teflon pipe tape to wrap it to reduce the thickness.
i am sure its not 1000Amps*, but to give you a hint: the performance of a spotwelder is better measured by mm of the total thicknes a Sportwelder can weld. My own diy-version can wed 3mm total, like 1+2mm sheet steel or 1,5 + 1,5 steel for example (4mm doesnt work atm so my limit is some where between 3 and 3,5mm total) *because my coppercore of the cable i build is double the thickness of yours
That is pretty good. When I was younger, back in the olden days...another millennia ago, I worked in a sheet metal shop that had a large, foot operated spot welder. That thing could securely fasten/spot weld 2, 12 gauge (2 x 2.1mm) surfaces all day long. never had to do any thing thicker. I think, that is how I shall implement my design...but first a small one for battery packs... I have a neighbor giving me his stock pile of microwaves ovens. The scrap yard would not take them...not assembled, that is...

Welding is a process of joining metals by heating them with a welding rod to the point where they melt and flow together. The molten metal from the welding rod is drawn into the weld puddle, which is then solidified to create a weld. There are many different types of welding, each with its own set of advantages and disadvantages. Some common types of welding include: Arc Welding - This type of welding uses an electric arc to heat the metals to be joined. Arc welding is one of the most common types of welding, and it can be used to weld a variety of different metals. MIG Welding - This type of welding uses a gas-shielded arc to join metals together. MIG welding is often used for light-gauge metals, and it produces less spatter than other forms of arc welding.
When it comes to making your own homemade transformer, many people think that the most difficult part is winding the coils. In reality, the most important part of building a transformer is making sure that it's properly insulated. This means that you should pay close attention to the insulation on the windings and on the core of the transformer. One common mistake made by DIYers is to neglect to insulate the primary and secondary windings of the transformer. This can lead to short circuits and electrical fires. The best way to avoid this is to use a good quality insulation tape, such as electrical tape or heat-resistant tape. Make sure that you wrap the insulation around each wire several times, and be sure to overlap the ends of the tape so there are no gaps. Another thing to keep in mind when building a homemade transformer is the type of core material you use.
Not that smart when it welds the poles inside together because of arcs !! Good luck with this shitty build! If you do it do it right!! The complete timing board the right way cost 10 bucks! This Homemade 1000 Amps Welding Machine with Microwave Transformer is a high current welder. It is made from a microwave transformer, some copper tubing, and some other materials that you might have around the house. The transformer can be found at any electronics store, or online. I'm not sure of the cost, but it shouldn't be very expensive. The construction of this welder is very simple. All you need to do is cut the copper tubing to size, and then attach it to the transformer. The welding machine can be used for both MIG and TIG welding. I have used it to weld aluminum, steel, and brass. It works great!

When he connected the small cable, the high resistance in the small cable limited the amperage, so it wouldn't be 1000amps at the tip.

Do you know safety? 1000 Amps is a real wild guess. From such a transformer you can get 80-90 Amps max.
No man, I got 700
Agreed. Looks like 20 - 30 amps
