Hey guys, this is a Pentland Hills dorm tour at UC Riverside. UCR has three residence halls: AI, Lothian and Pentland. I also added some college advice from first years students for you guys. Hope you guys enjoy it.
My name is Makhlouf. I am a first year biochemistry major at UCR. My goal in life is to be a doctor and I welcome you to join me on my journey to fulfilling my dream. - Хобби
A well done video! I like the fact that you gave your peers an opportunity to relate their experiences and their advice! That is very considerate!
I’m so excited !! I just went to Highlander day today and I submitted my SIR, so I’ll be attending there come fall :D
@@emmabearkisses Session 6, for CHASS
Great video, I was wondering what was your opinion on ZIP Car. Is is available frequently or are they hard to obtain.
Yay I’m committing to UCR for fall 2019 for microbiology 😇 so excited
Best of luck Emma, you will love it!!
Good luck and keep it up 🙏
Emma Nevaeh Congrats! I will see you there!
Katie Love Aw congratulations to you as well!
Emma Nevaeh I’m going too! For a different major tho.
Bruh... we could make a small meet up with each other lmao.
Do you have any advice for on how to move in if you're out of state?
Awwwww I’m just seeing this video right now and I miss y’all 😭. Y’all were such a good set of residents. Also this is such a quality video and a really great resource for students wanting to attend UCR so great job!
Best Ra ever 🙏
IM SO EXCITED XD I committed to UCR and I am going into Biochemistry!
Brooke Johnson congratulations! 💫 see ya there, what orientation session are you going to?
Emma Nevaeh the Aug 8th - 9th orientation 😆
I applied to ucr and tbh I feel like I won't get accepted to other uc's so I'm looking forward to going here (maybe)!
I LOVE IT!!!
That is a really pretty campus!
the messy hoes Thank you so much. I really like it here. Thanks for watching 🙏
I'm coming to UCR this fall! Excited 😆😆 by the way, what dining plan do u have? Which one do u recommend??
Phyu Htet good luck you will definitely enjoy it. I highly highly recommend the 120 plan it is the best with the most card money that you can use in places other than dining halls. However 120 comes with the least meal swipes si if you know that you need 3 meals a day get the 150 plan. 120 is enough you won't eat as much as you expect. Good luck on whatever you do. Hope to see you around 🖤👊
A House of Learning Doctors. I hope to see you too. Thanks! 👊
Oh my... your campus is beautiful!
Thank you so much !!! I LOVE it here :)
I’m attending here this fall! Staying in Lothian with the “ ingenuity” learning community, do you have any advice about the learning communities on campus?
wildefriend1 I'm attending this fall too! What's your major?:)
wildefriend1 I'm in the honors community and I like it a lot I'm sure you will like yours as well. My advice is to spend as much time as you can with your mates the first week because the first week you will most likely find the group that you fit in and feel comfortable with and doing that early is much easier because everyone would be open for a new friendship.
Good luck and hope to see you around
yessss calligraphy !
yesss!!! I love calligraphy it makes me happy. thanks for watching :)
A House of Learning Doctors no problem 👌 attending UCR upcoming fall ! Glad to see there's pen junkies out there 😭💕👏
West Lothian (my Dorm), and Aberdeen & Inverness (A&I) were the only ones a long time ago when I was there way before the newer East Lothian and Pentland Hills you have now! Fastest growing UC of ANY for a reason! Great people and programs at UC Riverside from this Highlander alumnus!!
Yes I love the school here and it makes me happy that people who graduated from here still love it. people here are amazing 🖤. Thank you so much for your comment and for watching.
Hey, I'm gonna be attending this fall also in Pentland for Honors! Would you recommend doubles or triples and are all triples lofts like that? Thanks!
Hey Brandon
I would recommend a double however you might get a triple regardless. Not all triples are lofts but you can't choose. Honestly a triple is not bad. I got my roommates randomly and it turned out great. Just be positive and nice and everything will be just fine. I'll see you soon since I'm an honor ambassador now. :)
Have a great year 🤜🤛
See, I thought that being up at the loft is pretty cool, but then I saw how there's two beds. Now I rather get the bottom one as there is only one haha
I agree, however it feels like a sleepover everyday up there so if you're close to your roommates you'll love it. Best of luck! : )
You're doing amazing sweetie!
dat1neguy thank youuu 🤘
Ten people wow!
Cool! How many people live in Pentland in total? Only 10 people? Or is that 10 people on each floor?
It's 6 to10 people per hall so it's about 35 people per floor and each building is 3 floors. Let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks for watching 🤘🙌
Awesome video! Thank you so much! How’s the dining hall food at UCR? Also, I applied to the honors program. Is it helpful? Can you give any advice about. I did some research online and many people say there’s too much students have to do to stay in it, and the only benefit is priority to classes. Thanks again :)
Hey Hope your day is going well, I think the program is underrated. In your first year, there are three classes that you need to take which are a seminar and religious studies and a history course. you have to take these classes even if you took the AP version of it. many people do not like that but in my opinion, it is worth giving it a try because you can drop at any point. I also met some of my best friends through the program so it means a lot to me.
Stay safe :) and good luck in all that you do

Thank you!!! I am planning on attending UCR next year, hope to see you around some time. Also, do you know why so many students join frats and sororities? I know it’s expensive and it’s not something I’m interested in, but will I miss out on things if I don’t join one?
Mayzio's Toy Store Greek life organizations can be really fun and it’s great way to make a lot of friends however at the same time it can be very distracting at times. Although I am in a professional fraternity it was still distracting at times. But at the same time it provided me with a lot of benefits and knowledge. For social fraternities/Sororities the reason is usually making friends. And for professional fraternities the reason is usually friends and knowledge about the field. For example my fraternity members told me about most of the activities that I am involved in. It is definitely not necessary and anyone can find these Extracurricular activities even if they are not in fraternities. There are many other ways to find these resources.
Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions in the future about organizations to join especially if you’re interested in science :)
ayyyy 100th sub!
ItsAllABlur thank you so much this means a lot to me ✌🖤
How is the biochemistry major?? I have applied to ucr as a biochem major as well and I’m curious about how it is like.
I'm a second year now so I haven't taken any biochem classes yet I'll be taking my first one next quarter. I have heard that introductory biochemistry classes are very fun but it get much harder later on. I know many people that switched out of biochem and I know others that love it. I think it's a good idea to start as a biochem major then you can change if it wasn't your favorite.
Good luck and hope to see you around :)
Also I heard biochem has more labs than other majors if that's something you care about.
@@makhloufbannoud644 thank you so much! i hope to see you around in the future as well :)
I got into UCR,UC Davis and UC Santa Cruz. I am majoring in Psychology and don’t know where to commit does anyone have any advice?
Ayssel Tarek what were your stats?
Jonathan Pham 26 on the ACT , 1180 on the SAT, 3.8 unweighted GPA
Ayssel Tarek have you made ur decision yet? congrats btw
Emma Nevaeh i committed to ucr :) and thanks!
「明確なメッセージ、明確な構造、理解しやすい、ありがとう」、
I would really like to attend here !! I applied but haven’t heard anything from here yet. Hoping for the best
PC Principal Good luck man. UCR is a beautiful college. Hope to see you here next year.
A House of Learning Doctors thanks a lot! 😃
Of course, if you have any questions about the school let me know.
I miss you❤️

I got accepted into UCR as a bio major and was also invited to apply to the honors program! Do you have any advice for the application to the program or just about the program in general? I was also wondering that if I get into honors, would I still be taking normal classes along with the smaller honors classes? Is is cheaper to live in Pentland if you get into honors? Or are tuition and board prices to same regardless? Also, how hard are the honors classes and is it worth it to be in the program?
AAH sorry for asking so many questions but I am really debating between UCR and community college. Your input would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!
Allie P HI Allie, Congrats I’m happy for you :) the honors program is a good program it can seem like a lot of work at times and many people decide to drop out of it. However, it is very rewarding because you get priority registration and some scholarships as well. You will be taking normal classes like anyone else. But some of the classes are going to be honors courses. Usually you will need to take 1 honors course a quarter. Most of the honors courses will count for your general requirements so that’s good And honestly they’re not harder, a lot of them are even easier than normal classes. I definitely encourage you to join because you can always change your mind later. Advice for the application, focus on how you would like to serve the community and focus on the pillars of the program ( which you can find on the website). I met my best friends through honors. Just know that being in the program will not change your college experience too much. I would go to UCR it’s a very good school and people are very nice and very helpful. for the price it’s almost the same price as the other residential halls and if you get into honors you usually eat a scholarship for living there. Good luck you will do great whatever you decide. One advice would be get to know the other students early on and don’t be afraid of making as much friends as you’re comfortable with also take school seriously at the same time please because having a good start is very important. Stay safe and hope to see you around :)
@@makhloufbannoud644 thank you so much for the advice! Also, is it easy to get the scholarships offered through the honors program or is it actually very competitive? And if I don't get into the program, would UCR still be a good choice for someone who is pre-med or pre-PA (as a bio major)?
Allie P the honors scholarships are not very competitive because they tend to give them out to many students. And if you perform very well in your classes you’ll have a much higher chance of getting a bigger scholarship. And yes UCR is still a great school even if you don’t get into the program. UCR has a school of med and they favor UCR undergraduates and they have an early acceptance program for UCR undergraduates as well. UCR also has a lot of research and volunteering opportunities. One last thing there are two professional Coed fraternities one that is strictly pre med ( phi delta epsilon) and the other one is pre health ( delta epsilon mu) if you’re interested.
@@makhloufbannoud644 once again, thank you so so much for your input! It's really hard to get advice from ucr students because i don't know many so I really appreciate it!! I was also wondering if it gets expensive to be in the program since you're taking extra classes every quarter
Allie P The price will be the same because you will need to take those classes regardless. For example you will take honors history and honors religious studies. These classes are required for all students but you will be taking the honors version of the classes. The honors version of the classes will not be harder. And no worries I’m glad that I can help feel free to ask at anytime :)
