Hey bud just wanted to say thank you! This was the most straight up and honest video about the potential of being a RUclips creator. I dealt with everything you mentioned involving negativity and no one believing in what you're trying to do. And because of that I gave up about a year ago and just started getting back into it again recently. I'm not looking back anymore I'm getting better and faster at editing everyday. The problem is EXPECTATION vs. EXECUTION. Most people come into this thinking they're owed something. The entrance fee is ZERO therefore you need to bust your butt to make something out of nothing. Successful YTers just make it look easy. Im having a blast with my new channel but man it's tons of work and WELL WORTH IT. It's my creative space and I think im on to something amazing. It's a combination of passion and execution that drives me. :)
You are one in a million. Making money on RUclips is HARD AS HELL! I have one video that has 300,000 views but then all my others have like 500 views and I can't make a living off this site. It's great that you got lucky with your series but the majority of kids shouldn't focus on this site and should stay in school.

I'm 44, graduated with a film degree in 94. Never used it, and in my 30's started playing paintball. I invented a new way to film the sport, and today I have 25,000 subscribers, and 3,800,000 views on my channels... Just playing paintball. And I rarely make videos, but I have over 250 done so far. It is a TON of work, but I haven't paid to play paintball in the past year, EVERY game I've gotten to play for free because of my youtube "fame". It is a really fun second source of income!
You should keep posting videos man. Back in your days in the 90s, there wasnt crazy video software and the internet was still new. With all the info out there, you can do a lot.

He left one thing out though. He only gets payed 70 cents - 2 dollars on every monetized view (Aka the viewers that get ads in the video) not everyone gets an ad when they watch the video.
Mirich Teny you realize that was factored in right? you definitly do NOT get 70 cents to $2 for every monetized view, you get that per 1k views... thats also why he said certain months are better, because theres more adds being produced (higher add budget = more monetized views because an add that might only play 10k times/day in one month, is playing 50k times per day a different month, so more adds to select from, so more monetized views)

Your videos are decent but if you want your channel to grow you should do something that people want to see, like what's popular right now (pokemon go for example). A lot of people talk about Pokemon Go so you have to do something special to stand out tho

I've been wanting to do RUclips since i was in 5th grade. I used to make videos and show my classmates but my teacher shut me down. I stopped doing videos and i just barely started making videos again. I just graduated highschool and im finally doing what i wanted to do. I don't know why it took me so long to return to RUclips but im so happy i did. I decided to follow my dreams, yeah the money would be cool but for the time being i enjoy making the videos. Thanks for making me realize that this dream could become a reality. Having the job of entertaining others is what i want to do. Disable adblock on the domain of RUclips, I was thinking about it during this video and I realized this is peoples job this is there living, so why are you taking away from that just because you don't want to watch an advertisement, especially when watching youtubers you love cause even tho liking their video is supporting them turning off adblock is supporting them just as much if not more

this is so motivating, i do youtube for almost 2 years, since the last 2 months i have been uploading daily and livestreaming daily. I dedicate my life to it. 2 weeks ago i went viral with pokemon go and gained 8K subs. 400 views a video now but yeah i surely do see that it is possible. I have 13K subscribers and I find the youtube money doesn't quite pay the bills, as I have to buy the products I review, and that costs money. I'm not giving up, I just recently started some affiliate programs which should help.

Top 1000 youtubers make 100k+ salaries. Compared to 7 billion people on the planet, 1000 is not a lot...... You have to be extremely extremely EXTREMELY lucky to make it big on youtube.
Well, you only have to be lucky to make it big on RUclips if you're successful QUICK. But, you can still be successful by making videos and growing slowly. My other channel is successful with viral videos and it took me about 2 years to get my first viral of 2 million views. But that's something completely different than my new channel non-gaming related.

Just found your channel and subscribed because of this video. One thing that my family keeps telling me is that I am doing great for a small RUclipsr but I need to make my videos shorter in length. If a video is only being watched for 5 minutes then I need to make the video between 5-10 minutes. Then I look at my content and I say to myself, how is that even possible? When your knee deep in a game and really enjoying it, but your viewer & watch time report says you need to slow down, I really don't know what to do. These days it's all about the watch time and subscriber count to re enable monetization again. It sucks because one day your gaining a lot of views then RUclips comes along and says out loud the little guy sucks and we're going to promote professional youtubers instead. That's how I viewed the entire monetization changes and it's hard to imagine differently. Now imagine your playing Minecraft, Rising World or some other survival crafting game. You want your audience to be immersed in the detail but not so much so as to where they get bored and leave. How do you edit a video such as these or even Fallout 4 for that matter where the audience really wants to see what your next decision is. How would you shrink a 30+ minute video into something an audience will enjoy it and remain there long enough to leave a comment or even subscribe? These seem to be the biggest problem with gaming channels we don't know what to cut or where to cut let alone when to cut back in to make the video enjoyable. Do you have any tips for gaming channels?

You could render the video files with a editing program. Or use Handbrake, it's a free program made for compressing videos, look up a few tutorials for the best settings for it

I've been wanting to do RUclips since i was in 5th grade. I used to make videos and show my classmates but my teacher shut me down. I stopped doing videos and i just barely started making videos again. I just graduated highschool and im finally doing what i wanted to do. I don't know why it took me so long to return to RUclips but im so happy i did. I decided to follow my dreams, yeah the money would be cool but for the time being i enjoy making the videos. Thanks for making me realize that this dream could become a reality. Having the job of entertaining others is what i want to do. Planet Chucky I personally knew someone who worked 80+ hours a week at a convenience store; he bought a motorcycle, a ranger rover (leased) and went on a trip to Dubai, all at the age of 19, before he sadly passed away from a motorbike accident. He was one of the hardest working people I ever met; whenever I meet/hear about hard working people, I always get a feeling of respect and acknowledgement for them

Well, you only have to be lucky to make it big on RUclips if you're successful QUICK. But, you can still be successful by making videos and growing slowly. My other channel is successful with viral videos and it took me about 2 years to get my first viral of 2 million views. But that's something completely different than my new channel non-gaming related.

Just found your channel and subscribed because of this video. One thing that my family keeps telling me is that I am doing great for a small RUclipsr but I need to make my videos shorter in length. If a video is only being watched for 5 minutes then I need to make the video between 5-10 minutes. Then I look at my content and I say to myself, how is that even possible? When your knee deep in a game and really enjoying it, but your viewer & watch time report says you need to slow down, I really don't know what to do. These days it's all about the watch time and subscriber count to re enable monetization again. It sucks because one day your gaining a lot of views then RUclips comes along and says out loud the little guy sucks and we're going to promote professional youtubers instead. That's how I viewed the entire monetization changes and it's hard to imagine differently.
Now imagine your playing Minecraft, Rising World or some other survival crafting game. You want your audience to be immersed in the detail but not so much so as to where they get bored and leave. How do you edit a video such as these or even Fallout 4 for that matter where the audience really wants to see what your next decision is. How would you shrink a 30+ minute video into something an audience will enjoy it and remain there long enough to leave a comment or even subscribe? These seem to be the biggest problem with gaming channels we don't know what to cut or where to cut let alone when to cut back in to make the video enjoyable. Do you have any tips for gaming channels?
Honestly, there's alot more to RUclips's adsense and ad payments but most famous RUclipsrs use a lot of shady tactics as well to gain views.

You could render the video files with a editing program. Or use Handbrake, it's a free program made for compressing videos, look up a few tutorials for the best settings for it

Hey cool dude! I loved the vid. I got started in vid making in 2014 when I created a course and put it out for free on Udemy. I now own a couple microphones and some lights. The thing about kids is very important. A few young cousins of mine asked me questions about how could they get a job and what's the relationship b/w GPA and a job, I think I can answer their questions in my naturally casual way.
I'm also thinking to put out some more programming videos as well.
