    Thank you for being honest in a way other RUclipsrs aren't about this product. The fingernail scratch test was so telling, as was the bleed through on the wood. I have learned the hard way to always scuff sand and use shellac-based primer.

      Oh thank you for your feedback! Yep I’m the same way.. I learned the hard way that you just gotta do the prep.

      I am new to this. I’m using the silk on my kitchen cabinets. The paint gets much more durable after it’s cure time of 21 to 30 days. I am adding an additional element of slick stick primer which increases the adhesion. I am really loving the built in top coat. It has a lovely soft sheen. It’s a beautiful product.

    This is excellent. Thanks for the candid review, I have to say I like this paint but get frustrated at the claims because best practice is not to skip steps, like scuff sanding and top coating. Great video 👍

    I painted a dresser with this paint and it turned out beautifully. It was very easy to work with and did a wonderful job of self levelling. I brushed it on and was left with no brushstrokes.

    the dings and dents show character to the piece of furniture. I just purchased this paint after researching several other all in one and chalk paints. Yes, it's probably best to wait a week or so for the furniture to cure. I plan to clean and sand first for best adherence. Nice job and great tutorial!

    Really appreciate this thorough review! I've used this paint a couple times myself and I think it works pretty well, but it's not as "simple to use" as they say it is. You have to scuff your piece really well or prime it to get it to adhere properly. And the brush strokes are inevitable. I personally would rather just use a chalk paint, since I have to do the same amount of work.

      Hi….I use Melange One paint and it’s amazing! No brush strokes and a beautiful satin finish! They also have the best color selection.

    • @shelleyrochelle7596

      I do as well. It’s my go to and I love Melange! No brush strokes and it comes out amazing every time! However, I do prep really well as I would using any other paint.

    • @ARayofSunlight
      @ARayofSunlight  2 года назад +2

      That’s a great idea! I did use melange ONE, and thought it was great! I did a video on it (a black dresser, a few months ago) but it wasn’t a review like this, it was more of a makeover, with only a few thoughts about the paint.
      I’ll keep your idea in mind though!

    Not sure if it is a recent add or not, but the DB website now has a video which shows step #1 as a scuff sand. Plus, I would expect for the scratch test to fair a bit better after at least a week or so.

    • @Jade_902
      @Jade_902 2 года назад +2

      @Bob StL most paints need 30 days curing time for a true scratch test.

    • @ARayofSunlight
      @ARayofSunlight  2 года назад +4

      Yes, the true result is best shown after 30 days. But honestly, a lot of time you can see if it’s going to do well or not within the first few days- the first week.
      Good news though! It’s been longer than 30 days and I can’t get it to scratch off!

    Thank you for doing this review! I love the color, but I don't think I'll be buying the silk paint because in having to do all the added work that already has to be done before applying chalk paint, it's just cost effective to stick with chalk paint. I love reviews and they are much appreciated!

    • @ARayofSunlight

      I personally think you still need to do all the prep work and I would topcoat it... so no, I don’t think it’s worth the extra cost to me.
