Even though Tchaikovsky's one of my personal favourites, and even though he plays on the same league as them... he just wouldn't win the Oscar "this year"

Nutcracker suite always reminds me of my elementary music teacher. In-city school full of gangs and deliquents, she never gave up on us. Near Christmas, she always put on the Nutcracker Ballet for us to watch. She died of cancer one year before I graduated to middle school. Mrs. Gardner, thank you for making me join choir and helping me become a better person.

@TyTimeIsAwesome Very inspiring story! I'm sure your music teacher was proud of you, may she rest in peace❤️I attended elementary school in a similar environment. Many of the teachers were of Slavic and German heritage, and they absolutely baptized us in classical music, from kindergarten to 8th grade. The upper grades went to see the city orchestra perform The Nutcracker every Christmas, and concerts in general throughout the school year.

Your words resonate so deeply; the passion of this music guides me through bad times and good. And each time I feel alone, for what I am, I think about how his life was, the torment of being misunderstood, chased down like a criminal, the injustice...Tchaikovsky brought us a world devoid of such ignorance. It does make me feel that way too. Even more, I feel the excitement, enchantment and beauty of it. I was privileged to be in a ballet company when in school, and take part in The Nutcracker more than once. It is very magical to be backstage, doing your make-up and getting ready in your costume, then come up and wait in the wings for your music and parts. Then the dancing is rewarding!! It becomes more natural as time goes on, but still takes lots of work!! My ballet teacher was Russian and a very good leader for us. We always had Michael Graham I think from the New York Harkness Ballet, come and dance with us. He used to sign our programs, “Keep dancing!” It was a fun time in my life, and I learned to value the discipline. That’s what makes it so rewarding. If you want to see the best Nutcracker in the U.S., come and see Ballet West in Salt Lake City. You will come out feeling different, very uplifted and happy!!

Friend: I wish for you to know this: Christ is the people's savior, and no one is their own savior; Most people ( including “Christians” are not on the straight and narrow path that leads to eternal life, but on the broad road that leads to hell; Good people do not go to heaven, but forgiven sinners do; those forgiven sinners are only those who are in the faith of Christ Himself, not those who live by the "bible rulebook", but those who obtain their righteousness in the One who makes righteous, through faith-
Friends BELIEVE in JESUS to wash YOUR SINS CLEAN- and then REPENT your sins! Faith and repentance come in the same basket, or there is no salvation; Only by the name of Jesus the Christ the Son of God do we have a route of entry into the kingdom of Heaven. Enter into that perfect peace and oneness with God through Jesus the Narrow Gate, the Life, the Good Shepherd, the rock (foundation). We acquire righteousness unto salvation, through our faith in the Savior Christ ( roughly can be swapped out with the word trust ) alone. But faith that is true, and saves a person, is not fruitless ( non-productive ). That natural fruit of an apple tree is an apple, the natural fruit of a pear tree is a pear, and the natural fruit of saving faith is repentance and the Holy Spirit indwelling a true believer ( being a believer is not just believing in the existence of God, or in the existence of Jesus and going to Church on sundays, but being transformed and renewed as a creature by the faith of the Gospel ( the Gospel is the “good news”, of Jesus's death and resurrection to win salvation for believers )
This is no game, and this hopefully was a very convicting read; this is a very summarized version of what you can read in Matthew, Mark, Luke, John-
May Christ be with you 🩷

I'm 74 in 2022. During my childhood, from about 10 years of age or so, I, too, used to listen to this album all year long, as well as other classical music and jazz music. In spite of the album art, I never gave a thought to it being music just for Christmas. I guess if it sounds good to you and calms your spirit, then that is all that matter. I would listen to it whether I had homework or not. . I have not listened to this album in many decades. What brought me here was that I was listening to the Star Wars album, a few nights ago, and something, a few notes, struck a memory and here I am. I never saw the Nutcracker live, only televised so many years ago. Look at the childhood memories this music has evoked and those who are new to it, are caught up in its magic.. Are we not all a lucky bunch?
