Simon was a member of DMTN (formerly Dalmatian). He’s half Japanese and half Korean. When he left the idol world, he got into producing and this group became his pet project. He’s been nurturing the growth and development of XG for over five years. He clearly knows what the industry wants and because of his connections in Korea he’s using that to his advantage. He knows the business well and clearly what he’s doing is working.
I love how you mention how he’s taking advantage of his connections in Korea. I love how XG is an all girl Japanese group that identifies themselves as a global group. It’s refreshing and almost freeing. The Asian representation and breaking of boundaries in that technicality is so nice to witness and as an Asian American, can’t help but feel really proud on how they can be considered in the same field as other western artists because of their wider scale aim.

Left right is what sold me on XG. I remember them debuting and also listening to mascara … but left right just hit right, spot on. Just took a second on first listen, even after shooting star and I knew that’s gonna be it! But I’m also really vibing with shooting star. This comeback is just wow! I hope they continue with this musical style. I’m sure left right will be my most listened to track on Spotify this year.
I'm old skool and XG is my ride or die. The talent & charisma these young queens have is just insane. And their sisterhood is so genuine. "Left Right" has been charting #35 on the U.S. Pop Charts for the last 3 weeks. Shooting Star & Left Right are both 10/10 could be SOTY contenders. You still need to really check out XG's now legendary rap xypher that blew up and went viral "XG TAPE #2 GALZ XYPHER (COCONA, MAYA, HARVEY, JURIN)" that is going to blow you mind. Even OG's who react to it are blown away by the fire they spit. Love your reaction brotha and thx for supporting XG

I had the same reaction the first time listening. I do honestly believe it is just a little bit above Shooting star. What surprised me the most is how good they already are and they seem to keep getting better and better.

3 weeks ago XG debut on the US mediabase top 40 at number 40 making them the first Japanese female artists and first Japanese group to make the top 40 charts. The past 2 weeks they been at number 35 but still getting more plays.

Such an incredible stylistic homage to 90's/early 2000s pop R&B. There's a shot near the end of the video, a star pattern set shot from above, that's 100% Damaged by Danity Kane. The fisheye lens, the tunnel sets, the bright theater lights, very PDiddy/Missy Elliot Hype Williams, etc. This is not in any way a complaint, I'm saying they aimed for a thing and nailed it.

There's some heavy influence from *2001: A Space Odyssey* in here. From the ship design, to the octagonal hallway, to the colored lights shooting out of the screen. LOVE IT!

Another of their Producers, Chancellor, too helped put together Left Right, and was also a 2nd gen idol. He was Chance from One Way. Their song Magic has like a million views on youtube, and he's also one half of producing duo Duble Sidekick behind popular tracks like MBLAQ's This is War, G.O.D's The Lone Duckling, Sistar's Loving You, and Baek Ji Young's Good Boy.

FINALLY!!! Thank you, PD! I thoroughly enjoyed your reaction and analysis. "Left Right" solidified XG for me. 25:43 - It's definitely them. Check out the first 'live stage' version of this song and you'll see how amazing they really are (the dance practice video is BLAST to watch).
Left Right is my favorite song by them. The choreo is as perfect as the production. And their execution of all aspects of the performance - dance, vocals, presence, persona, rap - is unbelievably smooth and clean.

I listen to this song at least 3 times a day bcs it is THAT good✨️
Idk what it was about it, maybe it was the R&B, but this song felt thematically like the antithesis to Red Velvet's Bad Boy. If Bad Boy was a person's first experience in falling in love and enticing others to have significant relationships, Left Right felt like that same metaphorical person matured and is figuring out life.
I keep hearing people placing XG and New Jeans in a similar category because of the R&B/Y2K feel of their latest songs. I can hear the R&B influence in both groups, but it is hitting really hard with Left Right. And the lyrics and the story line is a far more mature theme when it talks about the kind of relationship being described. This is straight out 'Let's get it on' territory. XG is an older group by age so none of their songs reflect the high school, young love feel from New Jeans despite three of XG members being under 18 years old when they debuted.

PD! Glad to have you back! Wishing you nothing but happiness and success in moving back to Korea! XG has captured my heart and attention in a way that NO GROUP HAS (regardless of genre) since, well to be honest, since BLACKPINK debuted. Everything about Shooting Star and Left Right are perfect! Their talents are SO perfect for this late 90's early 2000's R&B/Hip-Hop vibe they are riding. In my opinion it is a segment of music that has been sorely lacking in recent years and I hoping they continue to fill that void!
i've been loving the directors they got for their mv's too!! it suits their style and these directors just know how to make the group pop and highlight choreos and the members correctly, if in shooting star they worked with Rigend Film, for this MV they worked with Jinooya Makes!! (worked for NCT U's Make A Wish and 127's 2 Baddies, they have that specific art style, with the lights/flashes, match cuts, frames using shapes)
More and more reactors are Jurin stans and it makes me so happy. That's my girl!

Listening to k-pop was also my form of therapy for my mental health, been suffering deep anxiety for years now, k- pop seems to be my happy pill for that mental issue, Keep it up with your channel, not much help but just to like this video and finally subscribe to your channel as well as my sort of contribution somehow. Fan fact though, it took a B-side song to finally get in the grace of this girls, me too, this song finally solidifies their spot in my top k pop female groups out there. This song is so good that management decided to make it a video to it as well, I'm suprise how good it came out given the short time they need to make a video for this one, since this just came out same as shooting stars did

Welcome back, PD! This song hooked me immediately. I feel like TLC could have made this song in the 90s. Love the swing to 90s R&B kpop is taking lately.
100% !! Thought of the same thing after I heard this the first time especially with the TLC vibe.
Their sets are mostly real. Especially in shooting star. Some are CGI but not as much as you think. The helicopter, snow and fireworks are all real in shooting star. The spaceship, ship interiors are real in left right. I have to give it to the producers and staff for the hard work. They did a great job. Their fit also is on point.
Their concept here is, they are aliens from different universe. The 60’s-70’s style fit shows that concept. It’s been mentioned before, the aesthetics feels like a Stanley Kubrick movie. Then the y2k fits are the giant aliens. You can see them standing on top of the ship and dancing on the deck of the ship. It’s quite interesting. Then when they landed on earth. Remember the scene in shooting star where they are surrounded by sky scrapers?. That’s them as Kaiju’s lol. I guess it means they’ll be giants in the scene.

Left Right is my favourite XG track. At first I was disappointed that we won't get a video for it because I like it a lot more than Shooting Star (though I understand why that song was picked as the title). Then someone told me that these songs are Double A-Sides which I didn't really believe and thought that it just meant they'd sometimes perform both songs on music shows, ONLY FOR THEM TO RELEASE AN ACTUAL MV FOR LEFT RIGHT TOO AND PROMOTE IT LIKE A SINGLE. I am so blown away by these girls and their music. Jurin and Chisa are always killing me. I can't wait for the full album because I am definitely going to preorder!
