honestly it's really rare to see a company let idols express themselves like xg's been allowed to lately. just this comeback we've had cocona shaving her head, jurin getting a septum piercing, maya getting a belly button piercing, and chisa getting a neck tattoo. like, i hate to say it but i gotta give their company their tens

Maya is very underrated. She is the most consistently amazing rapper and has an incredible singing voice to top it all off.

Yes! Cocona actually shaved her head. She has appeared on stage and showed it off just before the album dropped. Also, Maya and Cocona are probably the most natural rappers in the group. This is not to take away from Harvey and Jurin, since they are both still incredible.

This mv had me gagged lol. Have you seen the choreo? INSANE. They just keep getting better and better. Say what you want to XG but you have to respect their grind. The confidence, commitment to craft, the artistry… just so inspiring. I love their experimental nature and going against the grain. AND!! Harvey’s pitchy voice is improving. She sounds so much better here too. I can imagine how much of a powerhouse they’ll be in a couple of years.
what surprised me the most in this comeback was when chisa came in during that verse. i had a wiplash and was like "WOAH, THAT'S CHISA?! RAPPING LIKE THAT?!" bc im more used to her magical ethereal vocals and not much of her rapping + the visuals the mv had like omg she made me fell frfr
XG is utterly bonkers, I swear. Simon is a creative genius and the group is the absolute perfect lineup to make that vision real. This is the kind of artistry you only see once in a lifetime.

I've heard way too many people say this so it's a broken record at this point but XG isn't afraid to be weird. They're really breaking every gg stereotype, whether it's stereotypes associated with kpop or jpop. Obviously the wolf costume, grills, Cocona shaving her hair, etc. in this MV, but we recently found out Chisa got an absolutely beautiful tattoo on her neck, and Jurin always wears a septum piercing, as well as Maya's navel piering (idk if these are real, but at least the fact that they wear them publicly). They said they don't give a fk about societal expectations and I'm so here for it.
Ppl also need to give props to Chancellor, the Korean-American genius from LA who is behind their best songs

The level of filmmaking here is next level. Hinata's multiple eyes part is a homage to the 1927 silent film "Metropolis' - about a futuristic dystopian society. respect
They’ve said it from the beginning. They’re a hip hop rnb girl group! That’s what they are. Lol not jpop and not kpop. They’re Japanese singing in English. And of course their dancing is elite. Going global has always been their goal! XG stan for life right here!
The one thing that makes XG stand out is they can do anything at an elite level. Rap/HipHop, R&B, Pop, dance. A group of 7 aces. Being a hardcore music fan i haven't seen a group as well rounded or have as much raw talent, stage presence, swag & charisma in a "very" long time. Even the hardcore Rap/HipHop reactor channels discovering them for the first time have been losing their minds over XG
Also, they don't add any sexual contents like US rap culture

XG's "Woke Up" has officially made its debut on the U.S. Mediabase Radio Chart at #46. It's "extremely rare" for any Asian girl group get their music played on rotation in the U.S. This is XG's 2nd song to do that since their huge old skool R&B hit "Left Right"

the costume and editing of this video got me screaminggg, another amazing detail is their nails, they all have wolf-like nails
YO the details, costumes,lyrics, the flow of the rapping even the dancing. Were straight up fire. First group I've ever seen do anything like this. The producers and editors and even the stylest need these praises they all NAILED everything. Even watching that one dance move cocona was doing with her neck, the kinda fast tik movement, is very similar to wolves and dogs, and they made that a fucking dance move..HOLY SHIT its so fricken good

Transcendent is right. KPop diehards were so hellbent on rejecting them, but KPop would be lucky to have XG considered part of the genre.

Japan was the first country in Asia to embrace hip-hop, and it's amazing to see XG excelling in the genre. I haven't seen any Korean singers who can rap and perform hip-hop as well as XG. Shintaro Yasuda is Japanese, and I also recall there was an art director from Japan.
