Hello! A little info on XG for you. XG is a 7 member GLOBAL girl group. They are all Japanese, but their company is based in Korea. They promote like K-Pop groups, but they are NOT K-pop. All their songs are in completely English, except some of their Cyphers. They can rap/sing in English, Japanese, and Korean. 4 main rappers and 3 vocalist but as time passes with each new release, it's 7 all rounders now haha If you would like to react to more please react to their XG Tapes. A lot of the people miss the hydraulic spring squeak on the 64 line too. In regards to the visuals I think I have only seen one person bring up how Maya dropped in with that super hero drop with the cloud of dust. I thought that was hard.

He even had the chance to colab with black producers from Atlanta and they helped him produce one of XG stars called shooting star.

To your point, “why do they sound like this?” - these girls are GREAT performers but they didn’t write their bars. That was done for them by a Korean American rapper-producer out of LA called Chancellor, JAKOPS, the duo out of NYC from Virginia called YOX and producer Shinatro Yasuda who produced Ariana Grande, The Weeknd and others. So all that urban swagger was written for them. Still, to their credit, they can spit it.
They sound like this because these women have been working since they were kids on their careers. Some of them were as young as 10 when they started training. Spent years perfecting their dance, raps, singing, mannerism. Had to leave their families and train 24/7 for years. Went through grueling schedules. They deserve all the recognition!
That's the thing bro', the one who cut her hair of is Cocona. She has been rapping since she was in 3rd grade. Japan has a thriving hip hop scene with some of the hardest hitting rappers in the world. Plus they spit high speed. Check out some of the documentaries on these guys. They are very good at what they do. The rap schemes can be complex and they would be able to keep up with anything coming out over here in the U.S. I don't say this lightly because I cut my teeth on rap growing up in NYC.
Birth of hip hop is the Bronx.. east coast hip hop included so many Asians from rappers to dancers. Japan also has some of the best b boys and girls. ❤️
Appreciated your comments here. I’m not well-versed in hip-hop or rap. That said, I have always been into mainstream r&b, and a few rappers (primarily Doom and Kweli tbh). Folks around me were more into specific rock-related genres. I wish I had been exposed to more hip-hop and rap tho, because I gravitate towards these sounds a lot. Plus I have a lot of respect for lyricism that is more clever and/or complex, whether or not I enjoy the music itself.
I'm as old school hip hop as it gets. I love these girls. They got a old school feel to a lot of their stuff. Hip hop, RB, pop. They can do damn near any genre. They listen to music. They know artists from different eras and they love 90s and 2k stuff. You'll see a lot of their stuff has that flavor sprinkled with a little new XG spice. The rappers are elite spitters. i really like what you said about how even though the bars aren't necessarily super complex or intricate, it's the delivery that really counts. i honestly didn't expect any of the writing to be remotely good since english integrated into japanese/korean pop (or xg's famous XPOP) is a little bit tricky sometimes. i find that english bars in most of these songs don't always hit the way they're meant to, but every single line hit here. some of them i was genuinely impressed by too. while not all of them were super difficult or creative, it's the way that it's presented. these girls put so much effort into their work and it truly shows.

@@meleeee720 Not everyone is a native English speaker or has the same level of proficiency. Also, everyone has different accents. So, subtitles always help. I've seen many reactors miss some bars which is normal if you don't read the lyrics. My English is really good and I work for a company in London, however, I have a really hard time understanding Brits or even other nationals speak English since everyone has different accents. Stop making everything a big deal.

These girls dedicated years of their life to essentially a “boot camp” where they trained in singing, rap, dance, etc. They’ve studied old school rap, r&b, hip-hop and everything in between; and they’re always giving respect to the ones that came before them. Not many rappers can flow like this, regardless of where they are from. You're right, they don't have the most complex bars, but they've got style and swag for days, and the rapping is on point. There are a few lyrics where the double entendres and analogies are fire af, but I agree, the lyrics are little simple. But it’s the DELIVERY. It’s the CADENCE and that FLOWWWW baby. If some below average rapper made this song we’d probably all laugh at it. But it’s the performance quality and the dedication to that American rap sound that makes this song such a bomb ass hit. As some had said they're an all Japanese group located in Korea. The thing with them is while they were training to become idols (2017-2022) they were told to listen to a lot of hip-hop and R&B to find and flesh out their tones. Cocona (the buzzcut one) has been a fan of rap and has been rapping since she was in the 3rd grade.

That was done for them by a Korean American rapper-producer out of LA called Chancellor, JAKOPS, the duo out of NYC from Virginia called YOX and producer Shinatro Yasuda who produced Ariana Grande, The Weeknd and others. They sound like this because these women have been working since they were kids on their careers. Some of them were as young as 10 when they started training. Spent years perfecting their dance, raps, singing, mannerism. Had to leave their families and train 24/7 for years. Went through grueling schedules. They deserve all the recognition!
That's the thing bro', the one who cut her hair of is Cocona. She has been rapping since she was in 3rd grade. Japan has a thriving hip hop scene with some of the hardest hitting rappers in the world. Plus they spit high speed. Check out some of the documentaries on these guys. They are very good at what they do. The rap schemes can be complex and they would be able to keep up with anything coming out over here in the U.S. I don't say this lightly because I cut my teeth on rap growing up in NYC.

I'm as old school hip hop as it gets. I love these girls. They got a old school feel to a lot of their stuff. Hip hop, RB, pop. They can do damn near any genre.

i really like what you said about how even though the bars aren't necessarily super complex or intricate, it's the delivery that really counts. i honestly didn't expect any of the writing to be remotely good since english integrated into japanese/korean pop (or xg's famous XPOP) is a little bit tricky sometimes. i find that english bars in most of these songs don't always hit the way they're meant to, but every single line hit here. some of them i was genuinely impressed by too. while not all of them were super difficult or creative, it's the way that it's presented. these girls put so much effort into their work and it truly shows.

This is a 7-member Japanese global girl group ( 4 rappers and 3 vocalists but they all can do it all ). They operate in both Korea and Japan but they are not a K-pop group, they almost always sing in English. They can speak Japanese, Korean and English and English is their 3rd language. They mostly do Rap and R&B stuff but they are really versatile, you will see all kinds of songs from them.
These girls have bars actually. COWBOY REACTS has a 35-minute breakdown video on this song and has another 1-hour video of him breaking down GALZ XYPHER which is the rap song XG blew up :D Other reactors have breakdowns of their other rap songs, especially the TAPE's which they use the beats of "known" songs and sing their own lyrics. They pay homage to OG's and show respect all the time. They have tons of references etc.
They are basically a shape-shifting alien wolf pack from another galaxy and they have a lore. The eye thing was always prominent in XG music videos. You can see them keep changing and evolving etc. If you watch all their music videos in order you'll see the through line.

Their different songs/MV's represent different ERA's of their arrival to Earth ( not Earth per se but planets in general I assume ) and taking over. You can check the zoomed-in eye shots in these MV's and see the differences. They used those eye thingies in other songs like Shooting Star as well. I am not 100% sure what eye represents but my interpretation is that it shows their evolution or it basically shows they are aliens in a cool and visually pleasing way. I am sure they have a more detailed lore but we as the fans don't know much details yet.
They also have tons of references and easter eggs in the videos. For example, in the first Maya verse, it is like a court scene and Maya says "I'm the judge and jury" and she is addressing the "haters". There are people around in wolf-heads who are the witnesses ( which are the fans - their fandom name is Alphaz, WE are the witnesses ) and a guy is being judged with the upper half of his head missing. He represents the haters so they are no-brain, only talk. Also, you can see there is a building at the start and at the end and, a guy approaches it. He is the CEO of XG's label. Basically, he is XG's boss, but in the video, he is their commander. So while Maya taking the haters to the court, the other girls are coming in from the multiverse to attack the haters' """"head-quarters"""". You can see in the end it is in the shape of a head. It also blows up, so it means they take down the haters but it can also mean, after you finish watching the video, your minds are blown.
EXTRA : Cocona shaving her head can be interpreted in multiple ways. Saying F U to the beauty standards of the industry? Also, XG got some shade because of their outfits, hair styles, lyrics etc. ( Coco had braids for a lil while, so basically saying here, I cut all off, what now ? ) saying that they appropriate black culture ( they actually don't, they love the culture and they pay homage all the time. They don't pretend, they grew up with those songs, and their inspirations are the biggest old-school R&B, hip-hop, and rap artists mostly from the USA, they sing their songs, they use their beats, they shoutout and everything ) also, it appears she already did that when she was younger and wanted to do it again. The label didn't want her to until now since it fits the concept and MV so she did it in this MV. That can mean a lot of things but it's a bold move either way and it is fun, it is swaggy and it suits her personality. She is one of the swaggiest , coolest people I have ever seen. She is so badass.

I've seen many reactors miss some bars which is normal if you don't read the lyrics. My English is really good and I work for a company in London, however, I have a really hard time understanding Brits or even other nationals speak English since everyone has different accents. Stop making everything a big deal.

If you liked this I highly suggest listening to their XG TAPES. XG TAPE #2 is the most popular, it has the 4 rappers of the group in it. The one who shaved her head in this, Cocona, was 16 when they made the tape and she sampled Surround Sound-it’s actually amazing. These girls dedicated years of their life to essentially a “boot camp” where they trained in singing, rap, dance, etc. They’ve studied old school rap, r&b, hip-hop and everything in between; and they’re always giving respect to the ones that came before them. I’d love to see you react!

The thing with them is while they were training to become idols (2017-2022) they were told to listen to a lot of hip-hop and R&B to find and flesh out their tones.
