Hello! This time I covered one of my fav songs!
If you are a fan of this song, you probably already know there's
an AMAZING English cover of it already by Caitlin Myers! Her
version is the one that I used to listen to all the time! I was thinking of using her lyrics when I realized her translations were a bit different in meaning from the original Japanese lyrics. So I just decided to make a new version of it more true to the japanese lyrics.
I'm still skeptical if I did an okay job at it, since I'm such a big fan of how Caitlin's sounds. Anyway. I am a rambling chatter-box today! Even while I was editing this video, the whole thing ended up being over the top haha.

Wholly crap you re-wrote the english lyrics better than the original. I dont think you'll ever see this but Roku you have made my favorite Japanese song into my favorite English song and its perfect! You truly have a gift and just wow wow WOW wow... Im in awe and thank you for making this its actual bliss.
The English lyrics you composed are the definitive translation as far as I'm concerned. I did stumble across another cover on RUclips that featured an approximate translation to the Japanese lyrics that went untranslated. Here's my translated English lyrics that could be incorporated into the rest of the translated lyrics:

This is what the internet was made for. I'm so grateful to live in a time when I can hear masterful songs from another langauge sang in my language. By the way, you're one of the only women I've heard who sounds good at both low and high notes. Thank you so much!

I agree. I'm curious if the reason why she incorporated the Japanese lyric in by replacing the part hinting the way she act like a woman of cold heart is a reflection of the unforgettable love to a past boyfriend. For Japanese, it deepen the sympathy to her purity and innocent efforts to forget about him by wearing icy mask. A kind of Enka concept.
I thought this writer dropped the part as it confuses non-Japanese listeners as it makes the character too passive and wet.
That part of the song is the most emotionally charged, whereby Mariya Takeuchi made herself very vulnerable by revealing the secret behind her nightlife pursuit
I think Ren sang that part in Japanese to preserve the raw emotions associated with the original verse. Translating that bit into English may filter out some (if not all) of the emotional expression
I love the low/mature tone of your voice. Really fitting for City Pop, and very similar to singers of that era too. Subbed. Plz do more City Pop when you have time. I suggest September by Mariya Takeuchi.

He had never watched anime before, nor cared one bit for Japan. Now he's a huge otaku, learning Japanese in college. It's been several years and he hasn't relapsed. Oh, his favorites from those he watched during his WDs? he told me Clannad was his #1. Tied for 2nd was Death Note and Code Geass. Close third was Nodame Cantabile. He said he loved Evangelion too.
