Dan - we appreciate your comments. We follow International Society of Beverage Technologists (ISBT) Cleaning Guidelines (see link for instructions in video comments above) Per the instructions, it's important to note that we submerge the bar gun for only 5 minutes, and you're right if you submerge a bar gun for a period of time longer than that, then problems can occur.
...Continued....If the procedures are followed properly with sanitizing and cleaning on a regular basis then under the "button table" will not be a problem. The reason for the soaking in sanitizing solution is to kill any bacteria and prevent anything from forming under the "button table". Hopes this helps clear up any misconceptions. -- The Team at Sea Breeze

you don't ever put your gun in club soda, in 2 minutes it will be just plain cold water..cold water cleans or loosens nothing! you need to but the gun in some nice warm water to clean it! you ever try to clean up syrup with cold water good luck.
Yeah that bar gun should never be submerged in water.
read the Wunderbar owners manual..its states to swish it around in warm water than put it back in the holster, for reals
Never put the gun in any solution. Moisture will get into the gun and expand the washers causing the gun to leak.
washers? you must mean the o-rings
