Well if we ignore the plot of every movie being "make shit up so we can blow shit up", I doubt the Decepticons even knew Unicron existed until The Last Knight. Yeah. Quintessa, Unicron and Cybertron (yes the planet) are literally gods. Unicron wants to destroy, Cybertron wants peace, and quintessa she's on whoever's side is winning.
Nearly all transformers villains (apart from lockdown) try to “destroy earth” in one way or another, but megatrons intentions changed all times, it’s so weird!!!
Unicorn didn't exist until The Last Knight. I doubt Sentinel knew about Unicorn being Earth, he was focused on rebuilding Cybertron. He knows about Unicorn (The Prime Knowledge), but I'm sure he regarded it as a myth. Chances are in the Bayverse only a select few know about Unicorn, and even to a few of those, it was regarded as a myth.
It’s an interesting thought. The issue I see with this comes from the fact the films really developed their story as they went along and didn’t have a plan from the start. I think the idea of unicron being the ultimate villain the series was building up to would’ve worked better with a more forward thinking plan to begin with. Each of the films introduces unique magoffins to try to compensate for the all spark and also elevate the states to a more cosmic scale. I think if they planned to make the second and third film about sentinel the later films be about the fallen and unicron it would’ve worked. I think another important detail would be to make the allspark’s loss appear more significant with the All-spark’s shards play an important role and explaining intentionality for the all spark to land there with unicron in mind. Focusing on sentinel’s actions appear much more intentional, those being destroying earth and subjugating the decepticons. The first kills unicron and the second basically prevents the fallen from ever getting revenge and having his entire forces turned on him. It would allow for Optimus to grow as a character because he has to deal with the dilemmas sentinel was solving previously in a way that is much more heroic while realizing how benefit and loss from killing sentinel was since he was very close to saving cybertron.
The line Nitro Zeus said, proves that NItro is also a cybertronian Decepticon, who already knew about Unicron. He was not made by KSI as most fans think, that he is the recreated version of Shockwave made by Humans.
My theory about The Fallen is that he was going to use the Harvester to collect Energon from the sun and awaken Unicron to destroy Quintessa while Sentinel was going to do the opposite as for Megatron he had no idea Unicron was even in the Earth he wanted the Allspark for himself like any other greedy villain
