My coworker has an Outback, and I agree it's pretty roomy, but it's not incredibly huge. The Outback is pretty much a Legacy that has been made into a wagon. The difference with the seats folded is actually only about 4 cubic feet. There is such a big difference in price though. You wouldn't get the V90 just for cargo space.
EddieX In Germany we say, the better is the enemy of the good. The Volvo is good, but in many details Audi, BMW, Merc. Are better and Volvo is not very cheap. I drive a S90, i like the car, but i also know safety; usability; komfort; weight; are not so good like the competitors. But i want to change, because here on every corner you see the boring Audis, black BMWs and silver Mercs. :D but not a Volvo
I've seen some of these T6 V90 Cross Country fully loaded with the Bowers and Wilkins sound system selling in the U.S. in the mid 50s and some used ones selling in the upper 40s. I love this car. No need to pay $70K.
@@henjoh69 man, new V60CC is available since 2018Q3. I've already seen two in my quite small town. It's not so big as v90, but if you are looking for a car for two, or to drop kids to school is large enough
Here in Sweden wagons are the most popular type of car, especially the more practical lifted 4wd versions like Passat Alltrack, Audi Allroad, Volvo XC70 and so on. The XC70 was the car to have if you lived a bit outside the city. There are plenty of them and I think the V90CC is gonna be as popular as the predecessor. There are already quite a lot of them on the road and the reviews in Swedish motoring press are very positive! They work great in the sometimes rough conditions we have here! I hope you get a lot of them in the US in the future :)
I own a XC60 T8 and it's in between this V90 and the XC90. It sits lower than the XC90 and isn't as tall either. It honestly looks a lot like this car from a distance. I think it's a bit shorter but the back seat still has adequate room. The B&W system is one of the best in the industry and the seats are something I have no problem going on 10+ hr trips. Volvo really has stepped up their game.
I love this car - it looks amazing! And it's Volvo - safety, luxury, practicality, bleeding edge technology and development. These cross country Volvos are my dream cars. Saw a V90 CC here in Europe with gorgeous orange and grey accents - apparently it was the V90 Cross Country Volvo Ocean Race version. I also love all the custom Volvos out there like the police V90, ambulance XC90, etc.
Really enjoyed the review, Eddie! I liked hearing from the perspective of a car guy instead of the perspective of some reviewer looking at how it would fit a parent with two kids, which is what I'm used to. In Sweden where I'm from, buying a V90 (CC), or any Volvo really, is basically looked at as one of the most boring/"sensible" cars available being one of the best selling vehicles right now. Therefore, hearing someone discussing what's actually interesting and exciting from the perspective of a car guy is really refreshing! :)
Just bought one myself, great car for daily drive and some light off road. They are quite easy to find around the Seattle area, several dealer even have V90 (non cross country) in stock!(The V90 are on special order, the V90 cross country are readily available). Looked this up for sale in Michigan and it returns zero!
Great review and content. Always stick to your format and don't resort to fuck boi blogging like...well, ya know. From one RUclipsr to another, subbed.
I added the Polestar software upgrade to my 2017 T6 XC90 R-Design and it's worth every penny. The horsepower increase is modest but the midrange torque increase is instant as well as the turbo lag being eliminated. Mine has the four corner air suspension and switching to Dynamic mode lowers the car and the cornering and handling are unbelievable.
@@kamala80 My wife is from Baton Rouge and we make the drive there a few times a year. I've stopped past All-Star Volvo off of Airline Hwy to run my XC90 through their carwash a few times. They never seem to have fully loaded new models on the lot so I would suggest checking out Volvo dealers in New Orleans or even Houston if you decide to take the Volvo plunge.
The benefit value in value in Swedish in Really good value. You can almost get almost any car, except a high spec Mercedes or BMW which is almost the twice in benefit value, while not really getting a real difference in Real value. The S90, V90 or XC90 are a REAL good value car. So, it is really Abundant in Sweden, because it's a Swedish car (fine, many of them manufactured in china, but still, swedish spec and overhead over the manufacturing, so it's GREAT car) So, for the cost of a Skoda, full specced, you can get this, for the same cost, atleast as an employee.
As an owner of a Volvo V70R, one of the best Volvo sport wagons ever built, I love the V90 (standard, not CC) for its looks inside and out. But the double-boosted sewing machine engine is a deal killer for me. Our V70R, with its 2.5L 5 cylinder generates 300hp/tq and has that awesome sound that only an inline 5 can offer. With great Brembo brakes, all wheel drive, an active suspension and literally enough space in the back to hold 2 small kids in the jump-seat, it was unlike anything else out there. I'd rather see Volvo move more quickly to an all-electric powertrain instead of this transitional 4 cylinder they're offering now. It's going to be nothing but problems as it ages. And as much as I think the large screen entertainment system looks great, but again worries me what it will become after 60k miles on it.
I agree with many things you say, I wish they had reworked the five pot engine, maybe make the diesel version a tad more refined at lower revs, rather than introducing the four pot diesel and gas engines, but depending who is reviewing this car, most reviewers say the diesel engine is quiet enough, unless you rev it out, which is totally pointless on a diesel anyway, simply because of the power band on a diesel, so many people don't know how to drive a diesel powered car ! usually drive it the same as a gas engine, which is completely wrong, for a start, you don't rev a diesel engine to pull away from a standstill as you would a gas engine ! I would guesstimate around 90% of diesel drivers don't know this! I am referring to a manual gearbox now, the torque from a diesel allows you to engage the clutch without revving it ! the clutch on my Ford Focus 1.8 TDCI lasted for an astonishing 152,000 miles before having to replace it because of the dual mass flywheel gave up the ghost, so had to replace the clutch at the same time ! probably would of lasted even longer if not for the dual mass flywheel !!!
Eddie, almost everybody makes wagons outside of the US - popularity is declining a bit but I'd much rather have a 3 or 5 series wagon than sedan. The Audi RS6 wagon is my favourite.
Saw one of these fully opted loaners (10k miles) for sale at $41k, MSRP is 68K, B&O sound system, air suspension, napa leather etc.. Wish I had pulled the trigger.
I've been looking at (used) E63S Wagons along with the V90. In my area there just so happens to be a V90 (non-CC) at the dealer...which is essentially unheard of. I think they (the CC as well as non-CC) might be even more scarce than the aforementioned E63S.
This car is a perfect lease, itd be interesting to see how long term reliability is. I do really like Volvos as ive gotten older this one looks great, i too like wagons and hatchbacks
There are more on european roads :)' And about winter performance, this winter i was driving along a unsalted/gritted road, and we had to pull cars out of the way as they were not able to get up a steep hill, we drove right up without even giving it any extra throttle
It's a late comment but don't be fooled by yellow drivers and machined grill..the magic of the sound quality in this (and more brands, BMW and Rolls-Royce to name two) is spelled Dirac. The components (amp etc) are just "good enough" stuff. The magic is in a custom, per model's cabin tailored DSP. The originally home- then studio (now headphones, VR and more) audio sound correction system ("room eq" in layman's terms) is the currently (2021) best regarded correction system. Sad to see Volvo stooping so low as to not fitting their cars with Polestar directly and making it an option on the car. Why can't they make the car as good as can be from factory? It's not as if the car, after getting fitted with polestar, becomes a super agressive sports car or anything.
i think i actually slightly bumped into an assclown driving in that one that was pretty much on my half of the road trying to cross it he actually should have let me pass, so yea, those are not rare at all.
No one buy it because of the devaluation. Here (in Europe and i talk specially for my country, Italy) German cars hold very well theirs value. Volvo unfortunately not. So people prefer take Audi, BMW and Mercedes.. I have a Volvo XC90 D5 2017 and i love it but i know that his value will decrease very fast
Emil Ahlberg speak for yourself... and where i live your salary will need to be in the upper range to lease cars with this pricetag... and also that has nothing to do with my comment, i just wouldn't think of a volvo when spending 70k on a car... i do like that they're different from the germans though.
Janis S i was just joking around, here in Sweden it’s probably one of the best choices for that price tag, my parents have one each and they for sure are amazing cars. But in the us where other cars are a lot cheaper it would not be worth it.

Yup, except for at my driveway. I am a Mercedes guy. Can't follow the neighbours here in Volvo land.
Swedish car sells well in Sweden? Shocker!
Seriously though, I'm a big Volvo fan - I'd take this spec but as a normal V90.
i see them everyday here in sweden
Yes but probably 70 %of them are private or company leased
Seriously nobody buys those? Probably they fit more the European taste because a lot of those are here.
