You purchased a great sled Steve. I currently own a 2015 Ski-Doo Renegade X 600 H.O and I just love that machine. Have fun this winter !!!

You are going to love it.
    I have two. 2016 Grand Touring 1200se and a 2014 Grand Touring 900le.
    1200 is a fuel hog. 900 is a sipper.
1200 requires setting suspension up properly to make it handle well.
The side cowl flairs create a snow swirl in powder, dumps it around the bars and your lap.
100% on changing the secondary spring. Front E-drive primary is a good clutch. Just keep it clean.
Keep a couple spare relays on sled for when the reverse doesn't work.
Beware of deep powder. Things are submarines.
Put some ice scratchers on that rig. Will help with cooling and lubricating the hyfax. Ski-Doo tunnel mounted are the best option. You WILL need them.
Welcome to the old farts club.
    Enjoy your ride.

Really appreciate all the tips! Haven't sunk her yet, but after riding yesterday for a bit, I feel exactly what you mean. This is a trail rig for sure.
Scratchers and studs will be coming soon.

  • @Ultrafrozen

Great deal on that sled, you'll love it on long trips. Although they start well enough in the cold, get yourself one of those little booster packs if the Northern Corridor starts calling you. Nothing better than a 400 km day on a comfy sled during a crisp bluebird day up north.

Great overview of the 1200 Steve! I'm sold on this model! I had a 2004 Grand Touring 700 2 stroke when I was working in Iqaluit, Nunavut from '05 to '15. I absolutely loved it. Lots of power for those long stretches on the sea ice. I'm in the market for another Grand Touring at the moment! I really miss riding since moving back to NL in '15. Perhaps its time to move up to the four stroke. Too bad we don't have more snow all the way out here in St. John's on the east coast of Newfoundland!

You’ll love the sled. 1200 is a great motor with good power. Decent fuel mileage and great suspension.

congrats, nice sled. I bought the early 4 stroke Arctic Cat with the 660 non turbo. It was respectable at low speeds but would top out around 60 mph (give or take), but it was so quiet & amazing on fuel. I believe I use to get 25 mpg, which is "was" good for a sled, but don't take that beast off the trail..lol, you'll regret it. They are heavy. For the trail, you have the perfect machine... enjoy !!

1200 great sled, can easily put 25 000kms on it with little maintenance. secondary clutch spring usually gets weak, make sure rpm is 8000 to 8300 at WFO. get some snowtrackers semi-aggressive. front a-am bushings dont last long, get some from mainway solutions.in southern ontario

Thats great, I've just put a deposit down on a 2018 Ski Doo GT SE 1200. will be picking it up next month from Sarnia. I too have now become part of the old fart crew owning this sled at just 34yrd lol. I liked my Renegade enduro I had before with the air ride and for this one will be great for the added back seat for the gf to come with and for the extra storage capacity as I do a lot of volunteering with my clubs both snowmobile and atv etc.
If your coming Parry Sound/Muskoka way next time, let us know and we'll have to get out for a rip both summer or winter powersports ! Stay safe bud.

When you consider that the engine in this SkiDoo is a Rotax, and that Rotax also makes engines for light aircraft,..that should tell you something about Rotax reliability.
You 'made out like a Bandit' with what you paid for this great Touring model Steve.
    Enjoy the winter!

@@MichaelArtelle Yes, and started from a man who wanted to invent a machine that would enable travel over the snow in his Canadian province of Quebec.
I've been using and owning Bombardier snowmobile's ( SkiDoo ) since back in the 1960's. They do indeed make fine machines.

I love my 2-stroke mountain sled but that will be much more reliable and give you years of solid trail riding with your family.
On a side note, can you please go to Colorado this winter and take the TFL crew riding in the mountains? I think it would be very entertaining to watch Nathan and Andre get stuck all day😉. You could even get some work done by reviewing the new mountain sleds.

One thing I would do if I were you with that sled is familiarize yourself with doing a belt change. It's not like your old Yami where you can just open the secondary with your hand and pop the belt off
